As we entered, the young man and woman behind the counter informed us, loudly, that they were closing at 6:00. We said hello to the man at the cash register and asked him how things were going, to which he replied "TERRIBLE!" At that point, we noticed that they had put away most of the meat on display, even though it was only 5:45. We felt very uncomfortable and decided not to stay. We won't return. We understand wanting to get home on a Sunday night, but if your hours are until 6:00, why are you packed up before that time and treating your customers like an inconvenience? Change the hours to 5:30, close the doors and you can get home by 6:00!

The variety of restaurants or ethnic food available for purchase at grocery stores is laughably low. So i heard about George's International Market and checked out their website. I was really excited to try it because it gave the impression of being "International" and i love a wide variety of foods. I decided due to this to make the long drive into Fort Wayne to check this place out. My first impression of this place was confusion. Just inside the store you find a statue of a lion holding a shield, a statue of Elvis, and a third statute of Marilyn Monroe in her famous skirt scene. I am unsure what this has to do with a supermarket. I then walked into the actual market and was surprised at how much smaller it looks than in the website. I also discovered as I began exploring that its "international" designation is a bit overstated. It does have food from one or two European countries but its mostly hispanic and really mostly Mexican. Was i a bit disappointed? Yes. That said, i did find a lot of food that my culture also loves in here that overlaps. Firstly, i found actual green plantains! Usually in the supermarkets near my home they sell plantains but they are rarely green. To be able to fry some up and have tostones! Yes!!!!! I also found other products my family and I would love including plantain chips, malta, yuca, tamales, Jamaican patties, and croquettas. The croquettas were of the frozen variety and sadly only in chicken, i prefer ham. I was also very happy when I found Pineapple Nectar for my mom. She loves the stuff and hasn't had any since we moved! So i did end up buying quite a bit when I came here and i will likely come back again. I'm thinking to myself, there's NO WAY. I just went in there and placed a HUGE bulk order for my daughters 10th birthday party. Why tf would they let me come in and place a bulk order knowing they were going to close permanently, and not have the decency to call me and let me know I would need to full-fill my order elsewhere..... no way they would they ever do that! I mean what 20+ business operates on disfunction like that? So I thought...... So i call the maple crest location just to be informed that yes the store on Calhoun is permanently closed, they couldn't call me because they took the wrong number down (I don't believe they ever even tried to call tbh), yes they do have my order form at the Maplecrest Store, everything is in the store, and I can pick it up there, but it cost 3x's as much as I was told the first time and they will not be honoring the initial amount they told me it would be. My daughters party is in 48 hours. I have family otw in from out of town. I have paid over $500 in vendors for this event and now I have no food! How tf am I supposed to find 300 wings and 10 lbs of hamburger an 9 slabs of ribs in this little amount of time. You would think a company would try their hardest to work with your needs seeing as how they were the ones who dropped the ball, but nope, nothing.
