    The Pumpkin House

On a beautiful sunny day in October, which normally one might think it would be in the low 60s, turned out to be in the mid 80s..... only in Texas. My daughter and I went to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. This is the second year we have gone and last year was well, actual Fall weather. Cloudy, a bit nippy and in the 60s. This is a good place to take young children. Bounce houses galore, hay bale mazes, face painting, hay rides, barrel rides and of course pumpkins. Great photo opportunitites at all turns. All sorts of colorful cuts outs all over the place from Sesame Street, to Star Wars, to Yo Gabba Gabba to The Peanuts. The smell of fresh kettle corn permeates everything and you can't beat the food from Texas Roadhouse or a good funnel cake or corny dog. It only cost $5.00 to park and all rides and face paintings are free. The pumpkins got a little pricier this year so we opted for the small $3.00 varieties. But all in all, it's about my daughter having a good time, and me spending some great quality time with her. And taking lots of pictures of her.

We really enjoy this pumpkin patch. You only pay a fee entrance which is $5 during the week or $10 on weekends. You get FREE hay rides, FREE jump houses which they have plenty to select from, FREE hay maze, they have tons of wooden cut out characters your kids can take pictures with again FREE, a gigantic chair your whole family can sit on to take a picture on and tons and tons of pumpkins to purchase. They have food booths and an animal area with ponies, turtle, goats and pigs. A play ground for the kids to plant on and so much more. We drive an hour out of our way because you can't beat what you get for the price you pay.

Only have to pay to park. $10 on weekends and $5 on weekdays. Very nice pumpkin patch! Wagons on site that you can use to load up with pumpkins. A lot of fun for kids to go hunting for the perfect pumpkins and plenty of variety. Plenty of fun stuff for toddler age kids. I didn't try the food, but it smelled delicious. Didn't feel too crowded on a Sunday afternoon. Heard this property may be getting sold, I really hope that is not the case. Beautiful outdoors area.

Worst experience we've ever had at a pumpkin patch. PARKING: - Expensive parking with no options for anything otherwise ($10 per car on weekend and $5 per car on weekdays) - Cars were getting stuck in the mud - Huge divots in the parking lot, so if you have a sedan or small car, it's easy to bottom out - Parking staff does not communicate well. They had young teens directing traffic and one almost got hit by a truck trying to stop him after another told him to go that way BUGS & INSECTS: - Bees and wasps were EVERYWHERE!!! - Flies were everywhere too, especially around thbathrooms BATHROOMS & BABY CHANGING: - Portable potties only, so no place to change a baby easily and certainly disgusting if you need a restroom PUMPKINS: - Many pumpkins were rotting or were in poor condition - Pumpkins were oddly spread around the property, so it wasn't easy to see them all in one area - All the little pumpkins were at the check out counter, which was busy and very hard to access - They has a lot of wagons, but many were broken or were in poor condition PLAYGROUNDS: - Playgrounds were run down and dangerous - Jungle gym had nail heads sticking out - Make-shift graveyard area had broken glass - Self-push merry-go-round was unstable and one kid fell off and nearly got stuck under it because it was in a slope CHECK OUT: - Lines to purchase pumpkins were confusing and it was hard to determine the cost up front... pumpkins were $1 per pound and the minis were $0.50. Again, other pumpkin patches have scales so you can check before waiting in an epic line to check out PHOTO OPPS: - The wooden cutout characters, which I doubt were legally licensed, were cute and in good shape, but they were cluttered together around the house, so it wasn't a pretty background for photos MUDDY: - It was muddy and they weren't doing anything to help. Most places we've been to in the past would lay boards or hay to help NOT RECOMMENDED: Overall it was just a miserable experience and I've been to so many other places doing it much better. We will not be back and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Taking photos by some of the cutouts!

We been looking for affordable places to take our 5 month old this holiday season. Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch is the perfect place to take your fall photos! It's a pumpkin patch made for kids and full of things for them to do. The best things about it? It's FREE! All you pay is parking, which is $5 during the week, and $10 weekends. But considering you can be there all day... is a great deal. They have picnic table and food for sale, which makes it possible to enjoy the whole day. You can even rent a wagon! Yay! The reason I gave it 4 stars is because they only have porta potties and an open out house for changing babies. The baby changing area was very small, and dusty but considering you're outside the dusty part was a given. Besides that, it's a great place to visit and take photos :) They even have free hay rides!

They also had a corn maze (included in the ticket price), ice cream shop, gift shops & vendors, and hay bale rides (additional cost). Value: I felt like $15 per adult was a bit steep, but it did include a corn maze! Everything was a bit steep inside the farm as well. I don't think I would come coming again, but I think this is a perfect place for families with a bunch of kids because there are so many activities all in one farm!

The prices for the pumpkins were very reasonable and seemed to be lower than most grocery stores. Everyone working at Hall's was also so nice. From the ladies working the pumpkin stand, to the lady in the gift shop. I bought an excellent pumpkin soufflé candle and some jam. The lady was nice enough to keep our bags while we enjoyed the happenings, and then we were able to retrieve them when it was time to leave. There were also lots of portable restrooms onsite- they called it "potty town USA" Also, there were booths for food and drink, so you really could make a whole afternoon of roaming around here. I was bummed that I didn't get to go on the hayride since people in my party petered out before we had time to do it, but this just gives me incentive to go back again next year!

We loved it then, not sure if its the same owners, but three more kids and 14 years later, it was as fun as we remembered. The kids are all old enough to appreciate a real tree more now, and they all enjoyed the activities on the property--maze, fun props for pictures, giant hay mound...and best of all, its FREE to go! The only thing you pay for, is your tree. They had free beverages, snacks & treats. And, the tree we chose is beautiful. A 7' Fraser (so soft, you really can hug it!) cost before tax was around $130. Well worth it. My family had a great time! Most places that also offer food and activities charge to get in. We have four children, so even a low entry fee of $15 ends up being $90 just to enter!! So, to me, the cost of a much better quality tree than Costco or Home Depot offer, was completely worth it. They have a wonderful selection, the nicest and most helpful staff, and you and your family will have an experience beyond just choosing a tree.
