Best place to eat for lunch, highly recommend this place, healthy food with a good staff that know how to treat their customers

Yes 5 stars for tofu! I am so happy that flame boiler decided to remember that not everyone loves to eat meat at every meal. The tofu is seasoned well and is delicious with the all you can pump teriyaki sauce and hot red sauce ( sort of vinegar based hot sauce). For those concerned with portion control the small bowl is plenty but if you go big get half veggies they go great in the bowl and make it more interesting than just rice ...rice..rice.. Wait time was like 10 to 15 minutes and no one was in there. . Not sure if I'm happy it took that long because I could assume they are whipping everything up fresh. So this place has gone severely fucking downhill. Asked for more broccoli and she threw one piece on and flinged carrots off when she put it down before placing meat into the bowl. My family and I are regular customers at this family broiler. The first two weeks we spent over $200. The proteins, vegetables and rice are always fresh. If you like it cooked a certain way they will gladly cook it. I have always got great customer service and the staff has great professional. The music played varies, but that's colorful and it's the way the world is. Never are they unprofessional and the price is very reasonable. I had visit food establishments where floors and tables are dirty. Where I was turned away due to rude service or certain foods were out of stock. My family is a variety of food diets such as gluten free vegan, vegetarian and of course me the traditional meat eater. This place is wonderful for everyone of all ages and people can come no matter what time and feel welcome. I continue to keep coming back because of the food and staff. I am now interested in owning one of my own Flame Broiler franchise because of this wonderful establishment. If you ever have a problem talk to the staff instead of just holding in your anger. They are happy to please their customers and are always respectful. read more

I stood in line for 10 minutes patiently waiting my turn and the kid at the register asks me if I'm picking up an order. I say no and he doesn't hear me so I tell him I'm here to order my food. I'm waiting in line. I'm literally behind the person ordering before me. I'm not sure how that was confusing to him. I finally order and it's almost $25 worth of food. I go to pay him and he says oh we don't take $100 bills. What the heck? It's not even 6pm when I ordered. Is business so bad you can't break a $100 bill? The owner of this location has told me that it will be open Monday July 2nd. If you haven't already tried flame broiler you should def. give it a try. The quality of meat is wayyy better than yoshinoya. As for the meats they have chicken, beef and BBQ ribs. depending on the location some give complimentary kimchi and some give jalepenos. I hope this location offers jalepenos. :) Everything is grilled not fried, there's no skin, no MSG and you can choose between white rice and brown rice. I can never get tired of Flame Broiler. It's healthy, delicious and good for you. Service is always great and the wait is always short. My favorite is "The Works" bowl or plate depending how hungry I am at the moment. Make sure to get the Magic Sauce aka Teriyaki, the hot sauce is a bit watery for my taste. read more

Wow! Why flame broiler? Why did you move the food to the front?! We have been regular customers for years but now I will probably not return. This gentleman at the front was so unorganized and had no counter space to serve. He had just been on his cell phone before I walked in then I saw him get a quick squirt of hand gel and barely rub it in before he served the lady before me. He then continued to handle her money then serve my food. His serving teqnique was so poor and his portions we even worse and so inconsistent! The cook looked lost like what do I do next there was no meat cooking for 6pm on a weeknight that seemed really odd. The food containers looked sloppy and made the food seem unfresh!!!!! Please make adjustments and return to the old system. I don't see how this can work during busy lunch time because this employee was so slow and unorganized! read more

Flame Broiler is always a good fall back from the convoluted menus of dine-in restaurants and the plain sandwich shops around the neighborhood. And when I say "fall back" I don't mean that in a negative way, but in a way where we run into what we already know. To our comfort zone. And to me that means tofu. Since they started offering their tofu dish a few months ago, or maybe longer than that, perhaps years ago I've been hooked. It's firm and cooked in a way where the firmness still has that gentle chewiness, without that firm crisp you'd see in most Asian restaurants, the fried oily ones. Cooked to a crisp, which alters the flavor altogether. Theirs is firm. Firm in all the right places, firm in your mouth, firm in every bite as it mixed along the brown rice it is perched upon. There are other dishes here too. And I've tried them, and loved them. But my favorite is their firm tofu dish. Sided with steamed vegetables, fresh, and not overcooked still firm like the tofu. It doesn't mush in your mouth like baby food. If you have denture problems, then I'm sorry. These vegetables might not be a good idea. But they'd tell you that. The servers are friendly and I've always enjoyed chatting with them. Their personalities adds to the experience here. Like when Lakisha told me how she slipped in the bathtub dying her hair with peroxide, and when she backed her car up on her neighbors lawn ravaging their sunflowers and daisies. They smile. They always smile, while I drizzle sauces on my dish. Different sauces; the spicy, the Teriyaki, and their very own Magic Sauce all mixed up in a sauce and soup cocktail. On top of the chopped onion leaves of course. The fresh greens sprinkled on top of the glistening tofu, perched on top of a steaming brown rice. They'd ask you how you are. I'm a vegetarian. And there are many options everywhere - from pizzas to Thai foods, to Subways and the neighborhood Italian delis. Most of them do not have very good vegetarian options. Most falls back to the classic food bait of salty greasy rich foods. Foods that will bloat you for hours, foods of questionable origins - particularly these Asian shrimps. Where, from what I've learned, is imported from other countries with dubious standards on fishery and agriculture. I don't eat them. But what if they get into my food? The pots they use, the cooking utensils. So I avoid them. They don't have good selections of vegetarian dishes anyway. And if they do, it's always just a side show, a gimmick to conform, to be able to say "see, we have vegetarian dishes too". Sure, but salty greasy and fatty. If you want simplicity, a minimalistic approach to dining. Something that won't confuse you, something where the focus is eating to live rather than the cliched "living to eat", then go have yourself a simple bowl of tofu over rice - with vegetables. This place is healthy and delicious with great customer service; however, I can't give them an extra star because I'm suspicious of the fact that they always "forget" that I want the white meat and sneak in dark... My family ate this last night and we ended up in ER for my 3yr old son. Food poisoning for a little man is not right. Obviously the food was contaminated. I will not be feeding this to my family again. Seeing my little guy in pain was not fun. Now mom and dad are feeling yuck. I don't recommend this food! Panda Express next time! this is the worst Flame Brolier ever! I normally go to the one by my office in Monrovia and the food is hot and fresh and the service is great. I order the plate and get steamed veggies instead of rice and have no problem. When I try to get veggies instead of rice in Upland they charge me 50 cents; reallly???? And they have some guy there who is the cashier and he is soooo rude! I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS LOCATION AGAIN!!! The beef tastes like it is old and re-heated too many times! read more

This location is under new management and they have made many great changes. They have the sauces ready in the containers for you. They serve you quickly and the food is always fresh. I absolutely love Flame Broiler but this is probably the worst location I have been to and most likely will not be back. At my favorite Flame Broilers, they pile on the meat where you can barely close the lid. This location gives you a less than generous sprinkle of meat and sends you on your way. And don't even think about getting a lot of sauce their dry rice. There's a limit on how much you can take. And they'll watch you to make sure you don't go over. I know Flame Broiler's are far and in between in this area but I suggest to either go to Waba Grill down the freeway or Flame Broiler in San Dimas. read more

Got the all white meat chicken. Tasted a little weird. Got home my stomach was so bloated. Got very sick that night. In so much pain I couldn't sleep. Then the diarrhea started. I DO NOT advise eating here. PS only gave 1 star b/c I had to. I will never go here again! I used to love this place, and eat it 3 to 4 times a week! I went there last night and ordered something for 12$ , the main computer acted up he then used the 1 next to it after 6 min saying he already closed the other one. Daniel the person helping me told me Don't worry if they charged you 2 times come in with a statement from your bank and he will reverse the charges. I went the next day and showed him the statement and proof of charges and receipt , he told me i have to wait a while after the charges clear my account! To be such a huge buisness i'm really surprised to see them handling situations this way! I knocked a star because now the food is in a vat in the front. Why?! It used To be so nice that they made the food but now it's just sitting there. My husbands chicken was dry probably from sitting out. The tofu was great though. I just wish the food wasn't sitting out. After waiting months for this FB to open I can finally say it was worth the wait. I like the idea of a frequent customer card, and that they give you a stamp for each bowl. The meat was good but could've been juicier. Also the jalepenos were sparse, mostly juice and seeds in the container. One more thing, they wouldn't take another FB location coupon. This is lame! Love this place! The food is amazing and they've made some good changes inside..I am giving it 3 stars only cause they have upgraded the bowls to bigger size which is great, but they add more rice and less serving of chicken or steak. They used to pack it in there which was the main reason I used to come here. I am in no way promoting or bashing anyone but I stopped by waba grill and they fill the whole plate with steak or chicken. I still come to flame broiler but not as often. I am usually starving after a workout and want to pack on the weight. The service is great and they are super professional always going out of their way. Great job to the staff.. read more

I have been to several Flame Broilers, but the best one of all is the Upland restaurant. It is a pleasant experience when you first walk in, with Christine B behind the counter! She welcomes EVERYONE as if they were family, and has known you forever. Besides the food being fabulous, she keeps the place super clean. I live in Covina and I would rather eat at the Upland store, because of the atmosphere. Let me start off by saying the owner is very sweet. Even the 2 hispanic girls I always see working here has a pretty smile everytime I walk in. Sometimes I feel a bit embarrassed when the owner calls my name out to say hi across the packed restaurant but hey, I'm a loyal customer here and I continue supporting them for the delicious chicken and vege bowl with brown rice and green onion. I used to eat at this place like 5 days a week. One tiny cup of hot sauce and one magic sauce. Did you know that you can order white meat for $2 more? It's a secret menu I suppose. read more

I eat at Flame Broiler a lot, all over southern California, and some are better than others. This one has great food, great portions, wonderfully maintained facilities, and they even have sauces dished out in to-go cups for you in case you're in a hurry. Most importantly, this one has Christina. Every now and then in life you meet one of those people on the top of the list of people, a person who gives you faith in humanity and makes your day better no matter how good or bad it's going. Christina is one of those people. She's a shining star. You should meet her. read more
