Best brunch in town! Best bloodys, best service, and bomb ass people! God I love a good poached egg!!

I'm struggling between 3 or 4 stars here, but I think I'm going to settle with 3 stars. I came here twice during my trip to Oberlin - once for dinner aka burgers and once for brunch. For dinner I had the bacon portobello burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and I got it with a side salad, mango-lime vinaigrette. It was really tasty and portions are huge! If that was the only item I ate, I'd undoubtedly give this place 4 stars. My sister got OT fries, and that was quite tasty as well; it's really unique and the flavors were good. OT fries are fries with coleslaw and pulled BBQ pork over them. 4 stars for the OT fries. My parents got the bacon avocado burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and we forgot to say we wanted cheese so it was missing a flavor. The meat was a bit dry and it just wasn't great. 3 stars for it - waiters should ask whether we want cheese and condiments/vegetables on our burgers, which our waiter did not do. We got tater tots on the side and they were good but pretty ordinary, nothing special. Service was okay; they came by to refill waters but it's pretty difficult to flag down a waiter. The ambiance is nice; there's a bar and maybe 12-15 tables in the restaurant for seating. It was full when we came on the weekend night. As far as pricing goes, it's pretty fair I suppose. Because portions are huge, the higher prices are acceptable. Each burger was around $9.50, and the OT fries were $7.50. For the two burgers we got and the OT fries, it comes out to 4 stars on average (3.67 to be exact). For brunch There was a wait, so I gave my phone number which they texted when they were ready for us. She originally said 20 minutes, but we waited almost 35 minutes for our table. We got a plate of blueberry pancakes, a plate of normal pancakes, and a lamb omelette. We got the pancakes with whipped cream on the side too. My parents and sister said the menu was just okay that day, not amazing, as they have gone there numerous times for brunch. The pancakes were really buttery, and they were quite thin and small for the price. The omelette was big, but the way they make it is basically have a really thick sheet of egg, and then put stuffing (in this case, slow roasted lamb and cheese) inside it. It wasn't super tasty or flavorful. The potatoes were okay; there were a lot of small burnt pieces, and the salad was fresh. The baguette was quite chewy and delicious too, especially with the pieces of roasted garlic they tossed in. Omelette portion is worth the price ($9), pancakes are not ($7 for blueberry, $5 for plain). It's pretty difficult to flag down a waitress, as we were seated near the entrance and they didn't really pass through often. 3 stars each for the pancakes and the omelet. So I guess on average, it comes out to be 3.33 stars (4 stars portobello burger, 4 stars OT fries, 3 stars avocado burger, 3 stars blueberry pancakes, 3 stars plain pancakes, 3 stars omelet), so...round down to 3 stars. If I come back to Oberlin, I'll probably end up here again because it's one of the few places to eat. read more

It's a darling cool place as far as atmosphere and presence go. Bar/restuarant style. Wait staff are all very nice. Food is good too. We just had to wait forever to get our meal. Not sure what was up with that. But most people want a quick lunch because of work or whatever. 45 minutes is too long to wait. I'll try again though or just get it to-go. read more

Food and service were great. We loved the burger selection and they served our Christmas Ales in pint glasses rimmed with a cinnamon/sugar mix! Ordered coffee after our dinner and they brewed us a fresh pot. Really cool interior with the brick walls and stamped metal ceiling. I like Covid hasn't stopped them from serving up their delicious menu. This has always been my go to place for a good burger. You had Bar145, Red Robin, and a handful of other places. But nothing compares to the Feve. They are falling the Covid protocol for eating in. Hand sanitizer available, limited seating, masks by staff and customers, and sanitizing the tables after each meal. Plus take out and I am pretty sure delivery is available. Also, the menu is online so no passing of germs or wasting of paper. Since I live a few cities over I set up a family dinner date and out we went. The waitstaff was very friendly and responsive. When the waitress came over she informed us where to find the menu. Menu, who needs a stinking menu. I been dreaming of a Feve burger ever since I set the dinner date. We started off with appetizers of mozzarella sticks and pretzel bites. Both were yummy and we held on to the extra cheese to dip my tater tots in. Everyone got a burger of some sort except for one of us who got wings. I wasn't disappointed the burger was excellent. The tater tots was nice crispy and hot. I have always loved the atmosphere of the Feve and with covid some of that has gone away. But this place rides of the reputation of good food and service. Would describe this place as having very upscale bar food and a great brunch. We also enjoy sitting at the bar for drinks.

I feel like a lot could go wrong with a place that offers everything from ahi tuna to spinach pie to burgers, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you're dining in, they have plastic guards separating tables. We went for carry out, but it was pretty busy on Friday night when we picked up our food. The pretzel bites were delicious -- my favorite part of the meal! My husband got the Jimmie (?) sandwich and tater tots, the latter of which he gave an enthusiastic thumbs up. He expected more of a sub than a ciabatta sandwich, which is what the Jimmie turned out to be, but he said it was a solid sandwich overall. I got the ahi tuna salad and was a bit surprised that they didn't have a specific dressing for it. I chose the mango lime vinaigrette and would say that was the best out of the options. The only real downside was the tuna itself -- it had a rub that would probably have been better on chicken since it totally overwhelmed the tuna flavor, and it was cooked a bit far past the "seared" style advertised. Not my favorite, not the worst, just fine. I would happily go back but would skip the tuna and go for a burger next time (they can swap out vegan or chicken patties with the beef for free!) read more

First time here, although we live in a neighboring town. 6 of us stopped for a bite and got the last table and it was 3:30. It took awhile to have a server help us, but from then on it was perfect. We started with a fried pickle appetizer, which was spicy and hot, served with a dipping sauce. Yummy! I had the turkey Reuben and fries and it has to be the best one I have had in eons. Perfect quantity of all ingredients so no one flavor overpowered the others. It came out fresh and hot and was super. The fries are close to fair fries but not nearly as greasy and are very good. Others got burgers and they were large and juicy. Another person got the Carmelized onion and mushroom sandwich and enjoyed it. The portions are large and we could easily have shared a sandwich. A great local spot with a fun and hip atmosphere. They have a huge upstairs and downstairs for seating. This place is great any night of the week. I love the beer selection and the food is great too. They have a lot of healthy options as well as a lot of vegetarian options. This is where the college kids come hang out for a fun time. With that being said, there is always a very diverse crowd there which I love about it too. People of all ages come to the bar. The Feve has been here for as long as I can remember and it has always been a hot spot. The Oberlin downtown is such a cute area and this bar fits right in. I got the danimal hot spice on my perfectly fried tots ... there was 4 options of what type of seasoning you could pick and than like 20 different sauces you could top with ... if i went back i'd try the Honey Siracha ! My salad was so incredibly FRESH .... it tasted like the ingredients were picked from a farm in the back of the restaurant ... this charming restaurant had impeccable service !! The food here is top-notch and could rival some of our better brunch spots in New York. I had a lobster pancake here a couple months ago and it was tremendous-- chunks of fresh lobster embedded throughout a delicious, flavorful pancake. The pancakes are the way to go here. One time I came with some folks for drinks and tater tots up on the second floor. Tasty and cheap. The atmosphere was pretty laid-back and the bartender was friendly. All in all, probably one of my favorite places to hang out in Oberlin. read more

No-nonsense ordering flows with the smallish simplistic dining area. The Feve serves up a sizzling selection of both traditional comfort burgers and divine works of art. Seriously this place is just fun! Once you get your food you can enjoy a truly great burger. Its the perfect size, flavorful and is accompanied by a fantastic side of fries, tots, or hummus (yes I said hummus) if you so choose. GREAT BRUNCH We stopped in Black River Cafe for brunch. We were promptly seated & then completely ignored for 15+ minutes. So we did them a favor: we got up and went across the street to The Feve. It was a good decision. We actually ordered fairly plain breakfasts (i.e., eggs, sausage, toast, coffee, etc), but everything was just perfect, as was the friendly service. Very good pub food, nice draft beer selection, and a fun atmosphere, make this a great choice.

First of all, props to the bartender and staff, who accommodated a group of 15 or so of us for a late night dinner after my friend's Junior Recital at Oberlin. They moved tables and chairs around upstairs for us, so we could all sit together. Even though the wait staff was gone for the night and we had to go up to the bar to order, they brought our food out to the table for us. Second, I had the signature "Feve Burger," which is a big, beefy patty topped with grilled red onion, house pickled jalapeno, bacon, and cheddar. It was possibly the best burger I have ever had IN MY LIFE! And I've had some seriously good burgers in over half a century of dining. It had more smokey, seared, juicy, beefy wonderfulness than pretty much anything I've tasted. Also, a side of their famous tots. Special trick one of the students taught me: take that red plastic ketchup dispenser and inject ketchup directly into each tot by jamming the nozzle into the tot and squeezing. They also have a nice selection of beers, both on tap and bottled, including local craft and micro brews. The Feve is a jewel in a liberal island of rural Ohio. It is reminiscent of a neighborhood bar and kitchen in a trendy part of Americas larger more visited cities. The menu is surprisingly diverse and affordable for Ohio pockets. The coffee is welcoming, the food is attractively plated and delicious with more than enough to satisfy. The interior has charm with intimate tables and chairs, it has a long curved copper top bar that is inviting, making it a good place to strike up a conversation with the local college crowd. Oh my Burger! This place has an awesome menu. I ordered The Breakfast Burger and oh boy was it one of the best burgers I have had in a long long time. I actually purposely did not eat all of it in one sitting so that I could have it again the next day! Let's also talk about the chimichurri sauce they put on that specific burger...YOWZA is it delicious! Make sure you get a side of this sauce for the delicious tator tots that you can order as a side. I was only in town for a couple of hours and stopped in for a quick dinner. I happily soaked in the sleepy quaintness of downtown and equally enjoyed the Feve's ambient lighting, exposed brick, and eccentric-contemporary-farm-esque-homages. I was an awkward party of one dining on the first floor. When asked about where to sit, the waiter seemed rather frazzled and never made much eye contact the whole evening. For such a chill and small place, I was curious as to why it seemed so high strung? Even when he brought my plate, it seemed like he just plopped it down with my silverware. I wasn't in the burger mood and got the avocado melt with megan (herb seasoned) tater tots. I immediately grew jealous-- why isn't there a place like this on my campus? The tots were done oh-so-well. Hot and crispy. As I mentioned before, I'm not a vegetarian, but the avocado melt was DELICIOUS with slightly caramelized onions, sweet peppers, oozy muenster cheese, and of course-- hefty chunks of avocado. It doesn't sound like much, but I was super full by the end of the meal with tots to spare. Including tip, dinner came to $9. Score! I was pretty sad leaving such a darling little place. I have been going to the Feve since I moved here in 1994. The people that work there are always the most amazing people you will ever meet. The food is the next food ever, and they support local. The weekend brunch... we'll needless to say our family who is now grown, we go there every weekend. Now they have added on Taco Tuesday! Damn! Their tacos are badass! We make the hour drive over to Oberlin once a month. This place is worth extra effort. Great brunch and excellent vegan selections too. The vibe is also special. Best thing about the Feve is the Oberlin Kitchen across the street where they greet people, give them menus and take their dinner orders. We arrived at 8:15pm, was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. We asked if bar seating was open. The hostess said it wasn't. By 8:40, no table. We asked about the seats at the bar that opened up, and this time, she said we were welcome to sit at the bar if there were seats open. What!? Sat the bar for 10 minutes while 5 people working behind the bar ignored us. I mean -- not even eye contact. Having no menu, we pulled it up on our smart phones. Tripping over my feet, nalgene bottle fulled to the brim with cheap pinot grinot - the Feve is where I would haul my drunk A$$. And it was always so welcoming. There were the charming towny bartenders that always hooked you up with at least one drink on a slow night,, the drunk - butt pinching townies who tried to corner you at the bathroom, and the La Grange - wasted limo driver - that would drunkenly promise you a free ride in his 'luxory vehicle.' Hell, on a Friday or Saturday night - there's all of Oberlin crammed into a tiny space known lovingly as the "Feve." The Feve has so much nostalgic charm, that as I write this, I'm craving a whiskey sour and a plate of tater-tots. Many a night was spent crammed into a Feve booth, bitching about the 'oh so cool' server that rolled their eyes, when you asked for more silverware. Or the lame party packed with freshman and loud jocks. Many a casual date (wait - who am I kidding - no one dates in Oberlin) ended up at the Feve for some hot wings, or warm chai. The Feve has undergone so many changes - some good, some bad; but it's still immortal. Everyone has a drunk embarassing story that begins or ends here. From patting down guy's crotches after spilled wine- to tripping down the stairs head first. I can't wait to revisit for commencement sometime, and down some PBR upstairs, in a hazy room full of smoke..... read more

My company is doing work at Oberlin College and the first time I visited, I was amazed at how nice the downtown area was and the interesting named restaurants that were there. I had the intention of eating at the Asian fusion place but the place had higher reviews so I decided to stop here in my way back to the office. The place nice and the service was good. The food was even better. I didn't get too fancy but I ordered the Cuban Burger. Don't recall all that was on it but it was delicious. I added avocado to it and a side of onion rings. Upon receiving my food, I was a bit disappointed at the amount rings that was served. I don't think they batter them there either. As it turned out though, I couldn't even finish the rings after my burger so it's not a deal breaker. The burger was amazing. I've had Michael Symon's favorite burger at in Kent and I think this one was way better. I remember it had dry rubbed pull pork on it along with something else. It certainly pleased the taste buds. Wasn't too greasy and was manageable to eat. I wish I lived closer to try more stuff off their menu. It's about an hour and a half drive for me since I'm coming from Akron.
