Lū'au dancers

Absolutely the best Lū'au I've been too. It's smaller, more intimate & authentic. The food is made at Andaz hotel and is modern take on traditional Hawaiian feast. It's a plated sampling menu, NOT A BUFFET; so your server brings you a Bento box for appetizers and a large main course plate where try a little of everything. 3 mini desserts were delicious. We have kids ages 5-13 and they were all satisfied & entertained. Enough space for the 5yr old to run around, and the 10yr old to copy the dancers. The service was excellent and the open bar was a huge plus. They have a photographer with free downloads of your family pics and the highlight was Hawaiian tattoo station where you can get traditional temporary ink.

We attended the Andaz Resort's Feast at Makapu Luau and absolutely loved it! Tables were set up on the lawn with a great view of the beach, and we had front-row seats to the stage. Before the actual luau began, we were treated to temporary Hawaiian tattoos and photographs with the beautiful ocean background. The dinner - with outstanding server Steven - featured a wide variety of traditional food, such as ahi poke, pa'i 'ai, shrimp & pohole, grilled Maui gold pineapple and pua'a kālua, along with braised beef short rib, jasmine rice and pineapple upside down cake. The magnificent show included historical stories of the island, Hawaiian music, hula dances and incredible fire dancers - all adding up to a beautiful night we'll always remember.

Perfect evening! This is the second luau I have attended on Maui. The first one was a very "Grand" event. This one is more my taste. I appreciated the smaller audience size as well as the private table. Our party of 6 had plenty of room and freedom to converse as we pleased. I loved the lack of a buffet. More time to just sit and enjoy the open bar and lovely scenery. Our waitress was excellent and attentive. The kukui nut lei is a nice keepsake! Food was plated, with smallish portions of each item. The beef and salad were standouts, as were all 3 desserts. Beautiful dancing. Music that wasn't too loud. No gimmicks! No vendors! Just relaxation and enjoyment. Free photo shoot too! Valet parking only. Book with confidence.

A good combination of entertainment and food. Bring your sunglasses for the first half-hour to an hour but the view is nice otherwise. A solid ending to our 2021 Maui Vacation.

Performance- 5 stars, food - 3.5 stars. I give this luau 5 stars based on the show/ performance! The performance is absolutely spectacular with sunset in background! Fire show included!! We learned about the history of hawaii and immersed in a great experience. We were greeted with seashell lei, drinks, had a couple stations for tattoos and stamping. Thought all of this was so cool! Andaz hotel is so stunning so come early before start of luau to take amazing pictures. The package also comes with professional photo free to download. Parking is included with valet. Oh and of course, unlimited drinks! I do have to comment on the food. I would unfortunately give food 3.5 stars. Although it was mixture of hawaiian food, I thought the main meal portion - meats/ fish were dry. Food came out a bit cold too. We were however full at the end because if unlimited drinks plus the 3 course menu. Drinks were decent. Overall, I do recommend this luau for the at remarkable performance!

Hmmm... would not do this again. Why? -the meat dishes were SO salty. You'd think that since the tickets were so expensive, the food would be reasonable. Nope-you're paying for the show. -which brings to my next point: the tickets were very expensive. Of course, we went during the holiday season, so it makes sense that the tickets would be more expensive than normal. But we paid $320 per person to sit at the very back. Might have been better for us to watch the show for free from one of the swimming pools. BUT- we loved the show. Though we were so far from the stage, we still enjoyed the experience of watching beautiful dances and listening to Hawaiian myths, historical figures of importance, legends, etc. Tip: book early. If you book the day before the show, unless you pay for VIP tickets, you will pay a lot of money and sit in the way back.

I was bummed to see the Old Lahaina lu'au was booked until October. The Feast at Mokapu at the Andaz in Wailea was my second choice, though, it was much pricier. I must say it was fantastic. The food was descent and the service top notch. To boot, the performance was amazing. We loved it! The performance was focused on traditional Hawaiian folklore regarding the history of Maui and different culturally relevant stories. Everyone had a pretty decent view of the main stage area, though, the tables are communal so you share space with others depending on party size. We were seated next to two different couples and we got along nicely. The food came out in three courses, with the first course being a bento box with different smaller appetizers and the second course being full of meat. The chicken was the best protein of all and the final course is a small sample of different desserts such as cheesecakes and flourless chocolate cake. The bar is open and the waitress was kind enough to bring refills as needed. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a lei made of shells and a welcome drink. Also a free professional photo is included with a nice back drop of the water. Again, I highly recommend.

My first luau, and so much fun! Very professional performances with music, dancing and story telling. You are seated on the grass and will watch and eat with the sunset as a backdrop. I loved the pretty shell leis and the photographer on site that gave us a beautiful memory printed and ready to take home. We bought the VIP seats, so we were seated at the first row at a small table just for us, we had really good service thru out the dinner, no need to run to the bar, just sit back and enjoy! Overall we were very happy with the experience. I would give it a four star, but this was my first one so I do not have anything to compare it with, and the entertainment was worth every second! But the quality of food and drinks where not more than ok. I think we left most of the food that was not really good and also not presented very well, a bit underwhelming. When the bread is the best part of your dining experience that's a problem... So don't come for the food - but come for the show!

The luau experience is amazing. We love the whole experience. Andaz Resort is beautiful and the show is literally on the nice grass area by the ocean. The whole background for the show is the beautiful sunset. The dancing artist and musicians are professional and talented. The host was fun. The foods are not bad. Service is great. We also enjoyed the open bar!

Loved this luau! Comped valet parking if you are not staying at the hotel. Friendy staff, delicious food (differently plated due to COVID), amazing sunset on the back during the dancing & complimentary photos! Such a great experience and we are so glad we got to do this on our honeymoon!! :)

Menu for the evening

TLDR: Venue is gorgeous, show was spectacular, but food was okay.. The evening started with drinks served to you as soon as you check in and an introduction to a photographer who takes a pic that will be printed at the end of the evening. There was an open bar that served wonderful drinks with tropical mixers, though they did get dangerously stronger by the end of the evening. The venue faces out to the water as a backdrop and you watch the sunset as the evening wears on. The show itself was so immersing and educational, truly welcoming you into their culture and allowing you to call it home even for a second. All the performers were beautiful in their own ways, funny, spectacular singers, etc. There was also a fire show at the end! Initially, we were pretty excited for the dinner. The dinner rolls and appetizer bento was actually pretty good but when the dinner bento came out, we were so disappointing. The Kalua pork was dry and most other proteins dry, the fried rice also pretty dry. The huli huli chicken was the best and the sweet potato was okay too. The dessert had a cheesecake that was wonderful but again, the rest was fairly subpar. I think with everything else so wonderfully done, it was kind of a shame that the food wasn't done with as much quality anywhere else. You honestly can find food trucks with $15 plates with way better food. But for a first time luau guest, the rest of it made up for it but with the food being meh, I think a price cut would have made me a happier attendee.

Feast of Mokapu Luau

Great night at the Feast of Mokapu! The setting was fantastic. The tables and settings were outstanding. While serving everyone at the same time can be tricking, way better than a buffet. Food was amazing. Worth the extra money. Steven was an awesome server! The production was great. Highly recommend!

Our go-to luau is always the Old Lahaina Luau. However, when we saw that it was booked for many months ahead of our vacation, we needed an alternative. This was a terrific option. Granted, we're comparing a COVID edition Feast at Mokapu to a non-COVID Old Lahaina Luau, but all things considered this was very enjoyable. The fire dancer was AWESOME, and that's something they don't even offer at Old Lahaina Luau. We also like how the food was delivered in courses. It helped break up the evening and provided something to keep looking forward to. A very nice touch was the free professional photograph. Usually places love to upcharge you for those, but the fact we got an 8x10 for free was awesome. We love the way it turned out. All in all, a great experience! Would recommend.

The venue is beautiful and have plenty of space. We were seated towards the back so it a bit more difficult to pay attention and hear. Food was actually decent. A lot of places are ayce but this was family-style. Service was great and they kept refilling our food to make sure we're never empty. The short ribs were the best. Poke was good and simple, fish was a bit dry, salad was refreshing, but fruits were surprisingly not as sweet as I thought it would be in Maui. It's also aycd at the bar but the cocktails were very sweet. I learned to just order shots. They also have coffee and tea available. They had a cool tattoo and cute flower station too. The first showing impressed me so much I had to go again! Micheal (Kekoa), brings such a special brand of charisma as does the rest of the staff (whom usually alternate). This really brought back my appreciate for magic. The best part is that this is close up magic, so you get a very intimate feel and see things as close as possible. As with all magic shows there is a bit of story you have to buy into, but that's the beauty of it all, is to give that feeling and belief that something can happen. This show and staff really captures all those in the most entertaining and hilarious way possible. Thank you again Kekoa and staff, next time I'm in Hawaii I will surely find any excuse to visit.

My hubby and I have been together for more than 30 years so this has been a great new date night option. We have been to 2 of these shows, different magicians, and left thinking both times, "how did he do that?" We've been to the big Vegas Shows but this was like sitting in a cozy living room with a group of friends while watching everything close up. You would be extra lucky if there are children in the group because they add to the "Wow!" factor. The magicians are top notch and do a fantastic job engaging the audience and adding their own humor to their delivery. Last night we were lucky enough to attend Shoot Ogawa's last show (for now. He made everything look so simple, natural, some were old slight of hand but still left us scratching our heads. We understand that he is going to be back in a couple of weeks). If you share your email address, they also provide you discount coupons to attend another show, no strings attached. They said that they rotate through the top 20 international parlor magicians. Even the most skeptical audience members left with smiles on their faces. The magicians also stick around at the end to pose for pictures with people from the audience. We also received a complimentary drink and free validated parking. I would recommend following the instructions on the confirmation to be there early. They take people in by groups. The staff members are super friendly and funny. They take you into a small room with a bunch of neat stuff that make you ask, "is that for real?" The first group will get first choice seating. Sit in the middle for the best view and get ready for a no - low tech night of old fashioned entertainment.

Had to make my reservations a few weeks in advance since the luau is only on Tuesdays and Fridays! Some limited, ah?! Taking place at the Ritz newly renovated Aloha Garden Pavilion, such a sight when you walk in! Welcomed by staff and given a fresh flower lei and a stiff cocktail (or TWO) right away! Now that's what I call the Aloha Spirit...quite literally LOL! -Blue Hawaiian -Kapalua Mai Tai (fave of the night, strong & vibrant!) Before going to your assigned seating in the covered pavilion, you can partake in the Hawaiian cultural activities in the lanai, and get your pictures taken underneath the beautiful garden backdrop! Then when you're ready you get escorted to your table for the luau pre-show! I gotta say - the highlight of the night is the luau dinner, pretty swanky! Before they call you up to the buffet line by table, they bring out the whole roasted pig for showing off as it heads to the display line for service! I noticed though that the pig is not made in an underground imu as is the traditional Hawaiian method - it is cooked in a Caja China, which can also produce succulent meat! The buffet is stacked well, and you can go back as your heart desires! The Kula Beets with Arugula and Soba Noodle salads were faves! Some crazy flavor combos going there and good starters! Cannot go wrong with a poke bowl with your own fixings as an appetizer as well! The Whole Roasted Pig was nice & moist (especially the belly sections), delicious when served with the mu shu buns, poi, pickled vegetables, and hoisin chili sauce. Like basically an Asian taco! The Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Fish was delectable too, delicate fish with their mild Thai coconut curry sauce was very good! The North Shore Oahu Garlic Shrimp was liked as well, so much garlic and lemon butter! And what goes well with protein? Why, a heaping serving of Garlic Mushroom Fried Rice of course! More of a modern meal take on the Hawaiian luau, but I ain't mad! I made sure to eat enough for my ancestors HA! After the buffet dinner, relax, digest and get ready for the show. The Tales of the Kapa Moe! Great local host, makes you get interactive too, work off some of that luau food! The show is a lively depiction of a day in the life of the Hawaiian ancestors, showcasing the different tasks of everyone in the village. Many tales to enlighten your senses: *Koʻi Honua - A story of the creation of the islands *Pele - Goddess of the volcano and its molten lava *Kanehekili - God of thunder bringing forth rain to start growth *Laka - Goddess of the forest and all earthly vegetation *Ka I ka hoe - Audience participation chant lesson *Huakaʻi Hele - Migration of our ancestors from the south pacific *Ka wailele o Honokohau - Acrobat in the form of a waterfall *Ae Kakou - Men dance expressing their love for fish and poi *Lānaʻi - The beauty of Lānaʻi displayed as our women dance in a cloud *Moea awakens - Fire finale representing that the fire of our people its heritage will continue to live and burn strong And while you're enjoying the history, don't forget to grab some desserts: -Mochi Tart (must try!) -Mango Pudding -Mango Cheesecake -Kapalua Bar -Macadamia Chocolate Crunch Cake What an experience of a luau, very nuanced! Especially the fire show at the end, super LIT is an understatement! My only note is that this luau is a bit pricey for the 3 hour dinner & show - about $260 per person for Ohana Seating, and about $316 per person for the Ali'i Premium Seating (right near the front row). But if you're a kama'aina don't despair - let them know and you can get 20% off with valid Hawaii ID! Awesome time for wifey & I at the Tales of the Kapa Moe Luau Show!
