Not impressed. I had to go there because where I usually go the shopping center down the street I will get my glasses the next day and they had an optometrist right next door. And I could pretty much get two pairs for what had to pay to get one pair from this company. And I'm still waiting two weeks. Like I said not impressed. They expressed their quality is probably better. But I get my new glasses every year so if there is a fault with the other brand it does not show up with any year. And I even got friends this time for about 50 to $75 less than I usually spend on frames and still only got one pair. Which I'm still waiting for. I should did a little bit of more research before I just went next door. My neighbor has the same insurance and she went to a place downtown and she got hers 2 days. I miss that one more time that I've done I am not impressed. Shop around. read more

Doctors are good. Staff not so much. They ordered the wrong lenses. My eyeglasses were broken. I requested they expedite. When glasses came in they had the wrong lenses. They had to send back out to get the "correct" lenses. They would not expedite and will not even give me a discount. Even though on TV right now they advertise 1/2 off new frames and lenses. Go somewhere else that cares about their customers. Too, your office is not a bar......please do not call me "hun" when I call your office. I find that extremely disrespectful. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, as is Dr. Harvat. My waiting time was less than 2 minutes even though I was a little early. I've seen Dr. Harvat for several years and am impressed with his knowledge, his professionalism and his warmth and genuine caring. He came highly recommended to me and it was well deserved. When a medical provider dispenses care for your eyes that is above and beyond what you were searching from three previous--that's right, three--Optometrists, that's information worth sharing. Specifically, I'm a patient of Dr. John Harvat. My family has a history of vision issues that are hereditary and he has diagnosed and solved a couple of those of late. Two close friends have also received exceptional care from him. The other Optometrists I'd used in the past I always felt they were trying to sell something beyond the normal service or (for at least one) they were just bored silly with their job. Not here. Little else to say. It's great to have a physician for your eyes who is really at the top of his game. Very highly recommended. read more

I called in because of an eye emergency (scratched cornea) and was told to come in right away, which I did. Once I got there the staff told me the doctor had left. So either the staff did not tell the doctor the seriousness of my situation, or the doctor did not care. Either way, this was the most disrespectful and careless group I have had to deal with. By the time we figured this out, all of the other eye doctors had closed for the night. Now I get to deal with this pain at least for the rest of the day. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FIND A MORE PROFESSIONAL EYE DOCTOR WHO CARES ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS WHO ARE HAVING AN EMERGENCY. read more

I've been coming here for years and always enjoyed my visits. The people are friendly, helpful, and quick. Prices seem fair, and my insurance picks up almost everything. If they don't, I am told ahead of time how much it will cost and left to my own decisions, which I appreciate. Specifically, I stay loyal to Dr. Harvat. He's excellent at explaining things if you have an interest - for example, as a kid, I knew that if I were going to be a doctor, I would be an eye doctor. Don't ask me why, because I have no idea. However, I told him this once, and he went even more in-depth to explain how my eyes work, any issues I may have, etc. etc. I've never visited any other doctor here. The only problem is that they seem to be becoming busier and busier, with wait times becoming a bit longer each time. Otherwise, this is a solid eye doctor to come to. read more

I am blind as a bat, so I need to have an eye doctor that I can trust, so when I started looking for an optometrist in Lawrence, and several friends recommend the Eye Doctors, I was happy to give them a try. That was 8 years ago, and I have not looked back (pun intended). Although their frames can be a little pricy (they are high-end name brands for the most part) and you might have to wait a little while to see the doctor, I really like the personalized care and customer service that I have always received at this practice. Dr. Harvat is great, and very in touch with new procedures and practices in the eye care field (I have super dry eyes so am always looking for a way to keep my eyes as moist as the air on a summer day in Lawrence). read more

Very considerate. They made my experience a good one with the friendly staff and extensive amount of equipment that they use at no extra charge. One equipment piece scans the eye I paid 100 dollars for the same scan at another eye doctor. read more

We were in and out quickly. The Staff was VERY kind and did exceptionally well with my special needs son. Office and rooms are very clean and well organized. Only reason I am giving them only 4 stars is that their frames are a bit pricey. Otherwise I would definitely recommend them! Plus side, they accept state insurance! read more

Do not pay for glasses/contacts in advance here, especially if you have vision insurance. I did so... paying the approx. $280 co-pay for my son's glasses in January and I'm still waiting on the refund in May -- after The Eye Doctors were OVER-PAID by my Insurance. I had to call them & report the overpayment; they didn't call me?!? What type of business is this? I blame the doctors for hiring an outside billing company which clearly isn't handling things well. I've made repeated calls to their staff and I think they've tried to help; again, the doctors need to learn how to effectively manage their business and keep customers happy. Luckily, there's many choices for optometrists and eyewear in Lawrence. Choose someone else! read more

I have some things to say about this place and it's not good. Mostly about how they deliver their prices on glasses and CTLS. But first there are some positive things. First, the Doctor who saw me was very accommodating and nice. The support staff is very welcoming when you arrive. My problem arrived when it was time to pay for my glasses and then again 2 months later for my contact lenses. For my glasses I was given 1 price when but I went to pay. When I didn't want a extra cost associated with my glasses a new cost was quoted, ah WFH? I just went ahead and paid the new cost because it was only $30 extra for a contacts lens exam. Needless to say I got my glasses and had to bring them back because they were wrong!! Still cant see up front and need to take my glasses of so yea. They still are not right but I do not want to fight with them. So now let's get to my contact lenses. I ordered contact lenses from them because the doctor told me I could save money because I have a serious case of astigmatism and a previous provider told me I would have to pay upwards of $200 a lens for contact lenses for my condition so this doctor told me she could get me into contacts that would cost me a much lesser amount. I was so happy bc I wear CTL 65% as glasses 35% bc of my work and day! So I ordered my contact lenses. I was given again 1 price, but then guess again, when I go to pay for them, I was given another price much higher again like my glasses! The excuse is "oh im sorry ("AGAIN" their words)"she gave you the wrong price". Im sorry but how many times can somebody give you the wrong price 2 times. Just asking? read more

Received a call out of the blue today that The Eye Doctors are sending me to collections. This is shocking news to me because I always pay my bills the moment I receive them. I have a great credit score, no missed payments, I don't owe anyone any money, etc. So I don't appreciate being called after a long day of work and being accused of not paying my bills. I let them know I haven't received a single bill and they assure me they've been sending bills. I ask what address they're sending bills to. Some random address I've never heard of. Apparently you fill you 900 pages of paperwork before your appointment and they just throw it in the garbage and make up a fun little address for you 'cause they're in a silly goofy mood. They then proceed to send your protected health information to strangers around town. Then they send you to collections. What a joke. I paid my bill and cancelled all my scheduled appointments. Be aware this company has also been known to submit fraudulent claims to insurance companies so they're certainly not worried about scamming their customers either. The staff and care providers are excellent here! I felt like they were truly glad I was there. The doctor was professional but also personable and listened to what I wanted too. They were very transparent about costs and there was no pressure to purchase anything. I left with my prescriptions without even having to ask for them. Their prices are great so I will buy my contacts there but it's by choice not because I felt like I had to. I highly recommend them!! read more

The Eyedoctors are awful! They don't even deserve one star! The receptionist, office staff, and even the office manager are all very RUDE. I came in to pick up my contacts (which they never even called to tell me they were in) and the receptionist was very rude and seem annoyed that I just so happened to come in right before her shift ended. She handed me off to the office manager to deal with and she was equally as rude. I have never encountered such horrible customer service! Avoid this place like the plague! read more

I have been a patient for over 10 years. My prescription glasses had the coating come off the lens. It has taken over 3 weeks, that is right over 3 weeks for them to get my replacement pair to me. There was no urgency from anyone in their office to get my glasses faster. Obviously I have not been able to drive for 3 weeks and no one in the Lawrence office much cared. I would give less than 1 Star if that was an option. read more

We will not be going back. My husband had an awful experience last week at their Lawrence, KS location. After receiving top quality care from Dr. Harvat, my husband then had to deal with the "Contacts Lady." She was rude, abrasive and incredibly mean. Our debit card has a limit to protect from theft. Without knowing it, my husband tried to charge his contacts without realizing I had just purchased airline tickets. The "Contacts Lady" told him in a very rude manner that she would only order his contacts once he had PAID for them. He told her this wouldn't be a problem and that he would call the bank to extend our daily limit on the card. She made him feel so unwelcome, he decided to leave and think about if wanted to order from a practice that talks to their customers in such a rude manner. He came home and I told him to just order the contacts and be done with it. So, he went back with a check. He was greeted by a very friendly staff when he arrived, they had his bag ready and he dropped off the check. When he picked up the bag, he asked the receptionist if his contacts were in there. She said, "I think but you probably should check." He did and there weren't any contacts in the bag. He asked the receptionist to look into it and out came the "Contacts Lady" who in a very loud voice said, "I TOLD YOU I WOULD ORDER YOUR CONTACTS ONCE YOU PAID FOR THEM!" At this point, my husband asked for his check back. Once the receptionist gave him his check, he was reaching into the bag to get the prescription he paid for. The "Contacts Lady" then violently grabbed the bag out of his hands and said, "You can't have that!!!" He told her he wanted the prescription he paid for. She then reached in the bag herself, grabbed the prescription and then presented the script to my husband. When he got in the car, he realized it was for glasses not contacts. Ugh! My husband is going to order through 1800contacts and avoid this rude woman who should be doing something else with her life, hopefully nothing even remotely related to customer service. We would have gone back to this practice if Dr. Harvat would have called my husband back as he requested. read more
