Their mission is specifically to advance an equitable and restorative regional food system. So all of the events I've attended there have been on that theme (a CSA Fair, Urban Gleaners Summer Supper, etc). They also do private events like weddings. As an event attendee, the space lend itself well to a clear check-in and a good layout both indoors and outdoors. I find the interior inspiring, with very tall ceilings and a rustic/industrial vibe honoring the history of the inner SE industrial area.

There are lots of options in terms of vintage clothing, jewelry, household items, etc. The vendors I encountered were friendly, helpful, and offered great deals ( I assume it's because they were about to close and wanted to get their stuff sold). It's small. The food is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE and the bartender didn't even MIX the drinks. OMG what…read morea s$&* show!!! I am SHOCKED that they would be a venue where weddings happen. The black walls made it seem dark and small. I'm not sure WHAT our PTO saw in this space but I did not have the same vision. Location is the only good thing going for it. Location location location. But we had a 90's GALA there, and y'all this place was stuck in the 90's everywhere from the decor to the uniformed staff. It was small. We had less than 100 people and it seemed busy so I don't know how they accommodate more than that. I also don't know where the photos came from online because it did NOT look anything like that. Okay so that's looks...taste. AWFUL!!! We were told we would receive a "plated" vegan meal. What we got was a "buffet..." "Wood fired vegetable medley" which was ICE COLD squash, zucchini, onions and red bell pepper. It wasn't even cooked. It was crunchy. NOT good. And our vegan "main" was unseasoned acorn squash covered in quinoa. Nothing had flavor. Our friend's had the chicken and mashed potatoes and said it was terrible. I figured that at the very least they couldn't screw up basic cocktails. WRONG. I ordered an Old Fashioned and she put all the ingredients into a glass, added ice and an orange wedge and handed it to me. O....kayyyyyyy... Well I was there to support our school but goodness was this a TERRIBLE and depressing spot. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

What a gem we stumbled upon when we found The Village Ballroom!! Connected to The Oregon Public…read moreHouse, The Village Ballroom is a nonprofit event space where 100% of the profits are donated to a local charity!! Pair this with the fact that it ended up being the most reasonably priced venue in town, and my husband and I were absolutely sold. The space is beautiful, with very little need to decorate because it is so lovely on its own. The entire event staff was so helpful and responsive, getting us answers right away and clarifying with us along the way. All the costs were explained very clearly and they were up front with us in how cost might be affected whenever we wanted to add something or change something. For a very reasonable fee we opted to use their staff for bartending, as well as the purchase of non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, we chose to pay their staff (again, a very modest fee) to take care of clean-up after the event, as we didn't want to burden our parents and friends with that task. The venue has very nice chairs to use as well as a good variety of tables of different sizes (included in your rental fee). They also have linens which can be rented through them, saving the hassle of renting from another company and paying for deliver/pickup fees. The venue coordinator even worked with my wedding coordinators, offering suggestion for ways to expedite setup and the flip (we did both ceremony and reception in the ballroom). I really feel like this space is an under-appreciated treasure, and can't imagine why more people haven't caught on. Because my husband and I met working with a homeless community, we felt so good about our choice to go with The Village Ballroom, considering their direct connection to social justice and giving back to the community. It was the absolute perfect setting for our perfect day.

I added the Photo Booth which was a great addition, we all had so much fun all night with it! There recommendation on DJ's were wonderful, I worked with Danny & so should you!
