My husband and I are having our very first baby and we are so excited. My very best friends threw me the best baby shower to celebrate this joyous event. Since everyone was so busy, they wanted to hire a professional event planner to help them with the planning and coordinating for the day of the baby shower. So after hearing great things about The Event Plan and through a recommendation of a friend, my friends decided to hire them to ensure everything was perfect for our baby shower. Helen & Christine are amazing! Even though I just hired them as my DOC, they were with me every step of the way. During the planning process if I had any questions like "what order should we walk down in?" they'd always reply back promptly with an email. They truly went above & beyond their services. About a month before the wedding I started emailing them how I want all the decor to be and let me tell you, when I walked down the aisle & into our reception area I extremely happy. They made everything almost exactly how I wanted...the things that weren't done exactly how I'd asked were done even BETTER. They had assisted me with the timeline for the day and we stuck to it to a tee. That's practically unheard of for weddings! Everything ran so smoothly (except for the DJ playing our entrance song as our MOH & BM started walking) which totally was not the gals' fault. We hired The Event Plan for our day-of wedding coordination and general wedding preparation (ie: site visits, preparing separate bridal party, vendor and guest time lines, wedding rehearsal, and vendor coordination). We are blown away by their outstanding service and would absolutely recommend them to our friends and family. Leading up to the wedding, we met with Helen and Christine in person and over the phone on several occasions; they took care to understand our vision and they did a fantastic job bringing that vision to life. They were always prompt in returning our emails and phone calls before the wedding. We were working on a serious budget and decided to hire each of our vendors separately (instead of a typical package deal offered by wineries and hotels), which meant that Helen and Christine had many vendors to coordinate. On the day of the wedding, Helen and Christine arrived several hours early to the venue to oversee and coordinate all of our vendors and to help set up our candy bar, sign-in table, slide show, and centerpieces. They did a fantastic job coordinating and communicating - we got compliments from our caterer and DJ on how easy Helen and Christine were to work with. They seemed to always be three steps ahead of the event - and conducted themselves with the utmost calmness and professionalism. Helen and Christine gave special care and attention to the bride and bridal party, always keeping an eye on things from a respectful distance. They made sure the vendors had everything they needed, and that our photographer captured all of the family and group photos that we specified ahead of time. They kept our time line running smoothly and made sure we got through all of the "formal" stuff so that we could get onto the dance floor to celebrate! We've received numerous compliments from our bridal party and guests who saw Helen and Christine in action - they were all very impressed by how friendly and professional they were! Bottom line is that Helen and Christine did an excellent job for us from start to finish. None of the inevitable "surprise emergencies" seemed to phase them, and we always felt well informed. The process of getting married in general.. is very stressful. As long as you have the right people to help you, things will go as planned. That was why we had wonderful event coordinators like Helen and Christine! In the beginning my husband and I weren't planning to hire event coordinators, Soon things became so hectic that we ended up hiring The Event Plan and I can genuinely say that it was the best decision that we've ever made. On wedding days there are so many things going on that you won't even know what to do. The Event Plan was very thorough and organized. They made the whole wedding run smoothly. At first, I admit, we were a bit hesitant to meet with them, but then again who wouldn't be? When we first met with Helen and Christine they were super friendly and very easy to get along with. They are such sweet people! We knew right then and there that we'll be able to give our trust to them one hundred percent and to make our wedding day the best day of our lives. They set up a very detailed wedding day time line that showed what would happen every ten minutes! They even emailed all of our vendors the same time line and confirmed what time the vendors would arrive on the day of. Helen and Christine were ON POINT from start to finish. They took care of everything so that we were able to relax and enjoy our big day. They told us what to do and when to do it which made our day go smoothly. I don't know what we would have done without them! On the wedding day, they were our guardian angels! These girls are amazing! I just had my wedding this past weekend and Helen and Christine truly rocked it out...without them my day would not have been such a success. So, my first experience with wedding planners in general was very negative. I had signed a contract with another coordinator prior to meeting with The Event Plan. My relationship with the other wedding planner went downhill fast and I needed to hire someone else to plan my day ASAP. This time I would do my due diligence. I met with numerous event planning companies and in the end, my husband and I went with The Event Plan. These girls mean business! I could tell immediately that Helen was quite the ass kicker and I liked that. Now my wedding was probably not the easiest for these girls to coordinate and there was a lot of communication throughout the months. Our vision was unique...rustic, antique chic...and my husband and I are both very particular and type A. We were on a budget, and because of that did everything a la carte. We purchased our own linens, bought our own place settings, and hired our own serving staff etc. So Helen and Christine had A LOT to coordinate. Not to mention two bedrooms filled with wedding boxes that they had to pack up into 2 cars (one being a van) and the fact that they had to make our flower arrangements for us at the site, since my wild flowers were to go in vintage apothecary glasses. On the day of, they did a fantastic job setting up and making sure everything came out perfectly. The Event Plan, you guys raaaawk!!! Christine, words cannot express our gratitude to you and your team. You turned our wedding vision and dreams into reality and more. Your professionalism and experience in this line of work is evident in how you planned and executed our event. We were the FIRST event on Sept 28 at the newly renovated Ortega Ballroom at the Officers' Club, a historic landmark in the Presidio in San Francisco. So of course we had to make sure our event was of EPIC proportions. Thanks to you, it was definitely epic! For those reading and looking for an event planner, look no more! We picked The Event Plan to manage our wedding from start to end. Planning with the Event Plan started 6 months out. Christine presented us with options for caterers and when the plan switched from buffet/sit down dinner options to heavy passesd hor'dourves (due to venue's change in room capacity AFTER we signed the venue contract). Without skipping a beat, she started the whole process over again for comparing catering vendors and options. Other than reading the catering packages that she assembled for us (med hi and low price points, Asian fusion v. American v. Italian cuisine, etc) and then attending a tasting, we didn't have to lift a finger or make even one follow-up call to the potential caterers. Not only can Christine and team deliver, Christine has THE BEST connections!! When our original choreographer flaked 4 weeks before the wedding, Christine was able to find us a new choreographer that fit our budget. The new choreographers not only prepared and instructed a dance routine intro for my entourage and me and my wife, but also a first couple's dance-- all still within our budget! Christine was also able to connect us with a videographer that filmed our SF city hall ceremony on Friday and completed the edits so that we had a video to show at the beginning of our reception on Sunday-- again, all within our budget!! And, and, and... Christine also took on the decor and theme for our reception. The venue has a panoramic view of SF bay on the Golden Gate side, so an elegant decor theme was a must! Christine provided proposals (with pictures) on how to decorate and all we had to do was pick (and pay!!) which one we wanted to go with and she procured and prepared the rest! I'd like to note here that she kept our decor WELL below our budget because she was able to secure the most amazing deals which she passed on to us (but we did pay for labor to put together center pieces, signage, etc.). Throughout the planning process, people kept asking me if I was feeling stressed out or overwhelmed. I always answered I was fine, and looking back I know now that I have Christine to thank! Needless to say, The Event Plan's execution day-of was seamless! She managed all of the vendors without us ever having to her involved or deal with issues. My apologies for this delayed review! My husband and I hired Christine and Helen for the month-of and day-of coordination for our wedding back in March. Because we decided to find individual food vendors instead of going with the traditional caterer route, the planning of the event adds a new level of complexity on top of the fact that it was held at Lawrence Hall of Science which had extremely strict time and event policies. The girls were very organized and went the extra mile in planning, setting up, working with various food and non-food vendors and the cleaning up. Given the fact that I was planning most of the wedding in Boston, the weekly phone meetings were also helpful in coordination and making sure we're all on the same page. I had contacted several other coordinators/planners, Helen and Christine offered extremely great service for what they charge and even had extra helpers when needed. I will be amiss if I didn't mention that Helen even sent her husband to pick up food from one of my food vendors who didn't deliver to Berkeley in order to make sure the food got delivered during the very tight time frame that it must be delivered. One last example of great follow-through is when some of the cake support pillars went missing the next day, Helene and Christine followed up on my behalf with the baker. It would have been such a headache to do that myself! Helen and Christine's help was key in my coordination and they were truly a pleasure to work with. read more

Over the past few years, I have been to a fair amount of weddings with coordination services and for the most part, I have been underwhelmed by the services offered by these so-called professionals. While I have been unimpressed with most coordination services, this is NOT the case with The Event Plan. I have actually had the pleasure of attending two weddings coordinated by this company. They did such a great job with the last wedding I attended that I felt compelled to share their talents with the Yelp Community. Earlier this year, I went to a wedding for a friend who was getting married on a budget. However, the way the wedding was planned and designed, you never would have known it was done on a budget. The Event Plan helped her with creating the overall theme of the wedding including wedding colors, invitation/favor packaging and design, flowers, and venue as well as providing coordination services. The wedding ceremony and reception were both very lovely and executed exceptionally well. The last wedding I recently attended was also coordinated by The Event Plan. With this wedding, I was actually asked to assist with Guest Help duties by the groom, so was able to formally meet the ladies who run this shop as well as get a closer look at the actual activities behind running a wedding. With this wedding, there were multiple curve balls thrown at them, which could have made things very disorganized, but they went above and beyond to ensure the wedding went smoothly. They set up the ceremony room (flowers, runner, reserved seating, DJ area, etc.), cocktail room, and reception room (flowers, table decorations, cake table, etc.). The guest cards and table designations were not completed by the groom/bride, so they quickly devised a way to seat guests in as organized a way as possible. The number of tables were below the total guest count so additional tables were set up during the cocktail hour. In addition, The Event Plan Team oversaw the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception - ensuring each event was on schedule and organized. I was thoroughly impressed with their quick thinking and responsiveness as well as their organizational and coordination skills given the curve balls thrown their way. Overall, The Event Plan provides top notch party planning and coordination services.They are experienced, knowledgeable, organized, quick thinking, flexible, and very talented. Christine was so helpful as our day-of coordinator! We had monthly calls for a few months leading up to the wedding just to make sure we were thinking of everything and on the same page, and when it came down to executing on the ceremony, she was flawless.
