I had heard of the The Estheticians for several years but never made my way over until last week. I was reserved with Mary who had an opening the day after I called. I was excited to say the least. Reception greeted me and escorted me to the lounge. I had my back to hallway. Behind me a bit later, a woman introduced herself and said she would be seeing my today. I thought it strange that the person speaking to my back didn't come around the chair to look at me when she spoke. We briskly walked over to her small room and she told me that I could put my things at the bench. Almost right away, Mary looked over my intake sheet and started firing off her questions. None of which I had the right answers to because even under her mask, I could see her facial expressions challenging my recollection. But seriously, WHO CARES who I saw at Spa Luxe and if I saw them five or ten year ago? And who care if they closed yesterday or ten years ago! How will those answers give me a wonderful facial today? They won't. I told her I wasn't feeling like this was going how I wanted it to, and she said "well I feel the same but let's move". Um no, let us not. I put my hand up and said I was done and this was a mistake to come. I don't care what reviews they have or will get (or who gives them for that matter) or what reputation they have, businesses lose their integrity with one encounter, as happened that day for me. I walked out and as Mary followed, and literally I had tears in my eyes and my voice was cracking from her making me feel so uncomfortable, I stopped in front of reception and had another exchange telling her that her behavior is atrocious and that I was done. I walked out the door and she followed me, closed the door so no one else would hear, and then when I explained that her demeanor was strange from the moment I walked in, she had the audacity to spew some babble ... something to the affect of "I think you're confused and seeing in me what you're actually projecting on to me". Are you serious? Who even speaks like that and what are you even saying? I got in my car and collected myself (still was crying and quite frankly in incredulous) and I drove away. I stopped a couple miles away, called and asked to speak with the Manager who was not on site but I was assured would call me Saturday. Crickets. Mary was unbecoming, graceless and a immensely inferior representation for what I I expected. read more

I don't often wax, so when I do it can be overwhelming. Not here! The staff here are so welcoming and friendly, and my esthetician, Demitra, was so kind, respectful, and gentle. I got an extended bikini wax -- and I'm so happy I chose The Estheticians. At other places, I've had bad experiences having to disrobe in front of the esthetician, or be left uncovered while waiting. 5 star experience at The Estheticians. I booked the Diamond Glow with Jeannette and I couldn't be happier with the results! She used the Skin Analyzer machine which allowed me to see how congested my skin was before my facial and how much clearer it was after the treatment. I have had Jeannette twice, and it is obvious that she is the acne expert.... Not to mention is super chill and very funny. I came out of my appointment with clear skin and in a better mood. Alicia is AWESOME! Went in today for my second time ever getting a facial (both have been with Alicia) and i felt amazing. The location has been updated since my first visit in October and it's beautiful. Her room is soothing with low playing relaxing music and a nice fresh, clean smell to be able to enjoy and relax. Today I had the Alpha Beta original strength professional peel to target my sun spots since I have recently began noticing them so much more now that I'm not getting any younger. I have scheduled my next two appointments to keep on track to get my skin glowing as it once did. Alicia also was there to give me recommendations on which moisturizer and sunscreen I should start wearing as I have never been one to use anything. I don't wear makeup so having a routine for moisturizer and sunscreen just was never incorporated in my time. I left there feeling fresh and relaxed with glowing skin. Thanks Alicia! My 8-year struggle with adult acne ended at the Estheticians under the guidance of Jeannette. She accurately assessed my skin and gave me product recommendations that improved it (rather than making it worse or not doing anything at all) and she tailored facials that helped to clear it out and heal it (rather than making my face feel nice for an hour with zero long-term effects). What I'm saying may sound simple, but anyone who has suffered long-term, painful, moderate-to-severe cystic acne that defies all logic knows how much of a miracle it is to have something work!  Every esthetician and dermatologist claims that they'll fix your skin; Jeannette is the only one I've ever come across who delivers. Acne is her specialty, and she truly cares about improving the quality of your life by improving your skin's health. She gives sound advice with empathy and kindness, and she's just a wonderful human being. After 6 months seeing Jeannette, I no longer had cystic acne. After a year, my acne scars are almost invisible, and the indentations on my cheeks left by the big scars have filled in. My skin is now healthier than most of my friends! I want to say it's a miracle but it really isn't - it's the advice, products, and treatments provided by Jeannette and the Estheticians. I was referred by my former coworkers who all said this was a great place to go. This was my second time having having a Brazilian wax here and my first was time went well so I had no issue commuting from Fremont for quality service again. However, my experience was not at all what I had anticipated. The one star is merely because the woman, Natalia/Natalie, was pleasant and talked to me the whole time...but to get home and find out that I had welts on my bikini like was not okay. I figured the irritation would subside over the hours but the following day it was clear that I had been burned. It was chafed and red as if I just got a bad sunburn on my vagina. I don't know whether the temperature of the wax was too hot or if her technique was off, or a combination of the two, but this information needs to be known so that this type of thing doesn't continue to happen to people. It's very uncomfortable and even now, over 1 week later, I still have a chafe mark and my bikini line and a portion of my labia are literally peeling! So I know for sure that I was burned! I'm very disappointed, I'm irritated that after paying good money and tipping well that this is the result! I will NOT be returning. I'd rather have a bush than go through that discomfort again and possibly do damage to my skin!!! To the people who are considering getting waxed, please keep this in mind. I'm writing this review based on business practices alone not services. I had received a Gift Card from my husband & kids for Spa Luxe. When I realized Spa Luxe closed down a yelp review said to contact owner to redeem un-used gift cards. I left two emails a few weeks apart and no replies. I then contacted their new location "The Estheticians". I was told that they would look into it and get back to me. No one ever called me back so I followed up. They had record of my GC but told me they would only honor 50% of it. Why? I am not sure as they could not tell me. How easy would it have been to honor the total amount. Customer service is just as important as the service itself. It's what business owners have control over. Too bad the owner doesn't understand this. read more

So I've been on the hunt for the perfect brow lady for the longest time and every salon I've been to, I've never gone back to until I heard about The Estheticians. I found this place from a friend who checked in here and thought, I have nothing to lose if I end up not liking it...I can always look again... But alas, my search is over! Alicia is awesome and I am completely happy with the way she was able to shape and tame my brows (my brows were all over the place...uneven...just an overall mess). She was also great in communicating with me about what she can do to help them and what I should do to maintain it. I got an enzyme facial with Alicia, and I swear, she's a magical fairy. My mom had asked me to go see a dermatologist because my skin's been acting up and I have been stressing over my skin, but the facial made my skin so much smoother and not as oily. I'm a lot happier with how my skin looks and am seriously considering getting the alpha beta peel thing she recommended. (I use Dial bar soap to wash my face so this is a huge investment that I don't ever make). Alicia is so wonderful! She's very attentive and just pampers you like none other. She makes sure to give you your space but also provides you with really important advice regarding whatever problems you're having with your skin. Stopped in this day spa in San Mateo to check it out. The ambiance upon entry is very pleasing. Love the colors and elegance here. Whoever designed it did an amazing job. The lounge is gorgeous and relaxing. It feels good to be here. They have a full make bar with Jane Iredale cosmetics and offer a great selection of skin care products including iS Clinical, Dr. Dennis Gross, Jan Marini Skin Research, PFB Vanish and more. I do like Aquiesse candles so it's nice that I can get them here or through their online store. I bought a honeysuckle scented lotion that I've never found before and love it. Smells so good. Aside from the SilkPeel DermalInfusion they offer every kind of facial you can imagine depending on your skin type and goals. I really like the fact that they offer high quality lash extensions. It's important to note the QUALITY of their lash extensions. There is a huge difference between your average walk in nail salon lashes and The Estheticians lashes in both quality and application. It's noticeable for sure. Also, they are really, really clean here. I haven't tried massage yet or their spa packages but intend to. Though they offer waxing (eyebrow waxing, Brazilian + more) I have a spot I go to already but that might change. I'm glad I found this place as I did visit Spa Luxe for massage and spa treatments and they are closing. This will be my new go to. They have men spa treatments too fyi, something my bf might enjoy. I recommend making an appointment prior to coming in. I personally make it a point to schedule time for myself so I can truly enjoy the experience rather than trying to squeeze in a last minute treatment. Overall the amount of pride and perfection the owner has in her spa is top notch down to every detail. I rarely visit a business that covers all bases from beginning to end so impeccably. I recently moved up from LA and was in desperate need of a new Esthetician. My friends recommended this place and my first experience with Demi was amazing!!! Best Brazilian I've ever had. But every time after I havent been able to book with her and no other Esthetician has been close to meeting my expectations. My most recent experience was the worst. Brenda was not only unfriendly but after 45 mins of pain i was left tweezing all she missed. She left me with burns and I have never dealt with so many ingrowns. My 18 year old daughter went by herself. They were courteous and professional at the reception desk. My daughter said it was clean and pretty and easy to get to. She had an acne treatment for teens by Jessica. She said Jessica was professional and attentive and was very good at educating my daughter on her skin type and what to do to help treat her acne.
