I rarely leave five stars. Five stars is basically saying you've reached perfection, right? "As good as it gets" etc. Jackie is where it's at. I came to her first for makeup and hair for a family photo shoot. I'm in-ept at taming my mane and she handled it (and plucked out my grays! Ha!). Quick, easy, cost effective, and in my house. Fantastic! She tells me she is finishing up her licensing for skin stuff and lashes etc, I told her I was interested and next thing I know I am making an appointment for lash extensions. (!!) They took a couple hours to put on but well worth the wait. I fell asleep anyhow, lol. They lasted about 5 weeks before they started falling off and I came back for a fill. Well worth it. No more mascara? Yes please. Then I came to her new spa spot in san mateo for a facial. It was great and she totally recognized the issues I had with skin spots from too much sun. And today i just got my very first chemical peel. Fully expected to be in pain, looking like a freak show after -- but i wasnt! Everything was good! It took only about 20-30 minutes total and I'm loving the results so far! I cant wait to come back for my second in the 3 series I purchased. Well worth the cost!! I had several sessions at Aspira and was very happy with my results. But a pattern started to develop with the front desk. I was contacted by the receptionist and Lydia as well many times to see if I would change an appointment to accommodate another person's wish. At first I was willing to go along with it because I know how things come up. But then it became more frequent. This annoyed me so much because I work my schedule around an appointment in order to keep it. So when I need to keep changing my appointment time to accommodate someone else, I became very, very annoyed. It was as if my appointment time didn't matter. Unfortunately, Aspira has lost me as a client. They're good at what they do, but I need to focus more on how a customer feels. read more

Lydia is very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm very happy with my first facial. The only reason my I'm giving them 4 stars out of 5 is because of the wait time. My appointment was at 4:45 pm and I was not seen until 5:10. I was slightly irritated because I made an effort to be on time as noted on their website. I'm giving this place a single star despite the SWEET ESTHETICIANS that works HERE simply because there hasn't been too many reviews out there about HYGIENE. I came here for the first time for a Brazilian several months ago because of the excellent reviews by fellow yelp.*ers. I've been back here 4 times since. However, I was quite disappointed. The sheets although covered by single ply of paper shown traces of previous customer(s) hairs. The STICK used to apply wax is used repeatedly throughout (DOUBLE DIP, DOUBLE DIPPING, DOUBLE DIPPED). I've seen Linda Price several times for my upper lip wax. Each time she was friendly, careful and meticulous. All was well until my last visit. I hate to give a negative review but I want to at least share my experience. When the wax was applied to my skin and removed with the strip, it felt different. It was more painful than usual. At the end of the visit, I was told my skin had an irritation right underneath my nose and sent off to use Neosporin if persist. I went about my day without looking at the mirror and the "irritation" gotten worse. My skin was burned and torn off!!!! It was raw for several days; no amount of makeup would conceal. I had to hide my face for a week! Rookie mistake a professional shouldn't make. Fearing it might happen again, I'm going elsewhere. I had high hopes for this place. I have been going to Nadia for probably seven years (I've lost track!) but it was before she was at Aspira. I adore her and recommend her any chance I get! Her brazilans are as close to comfortable as I think you're ever going to get. She also does my brows, and whatever else I think needs to be waxed that week. I had a peel before our wedding and left the treatment up to her, she was conservative in not doing anything that would take time to heal, and it was amaaaazing. I can't wait to go back for another one. Personality-wise, I echo the reviews on here....for an awkward treatment it is somehow not. I am so unbelievably lucky I found Aspira/Nadia Baroni. A couple of months ago, I wanted to have my first Brazilian and since I had recovered from my horrific (and botched) experience doing it myself at home, I called up Aspira and, unlike the other salons I called, the person on the phone was very nice to me and allowed me to leave a message with Nadia in the event that she had an opening. Turns out she was able to fit me in last minute on a Saturday. The only problem - my hair wasn't actually long enough for a fully clean wax. But Nadia went through it anyway and did the best she could, all while letting me know that she wasn't going to charge me full price since it wasn't going to be a completely clean wax. I really respected her for that - she could've easily shrugged, blamed me for not having the hair to yank out and charged me full price. But she didn't and I love her for it. Which is why I went back today after months of growing it in. I definitely had enough of a bush for her to deal with and even thought she might have to trim it beforehand. She didn't but gave me a perfect (and mostly pain free) wax anyway. Seriously - I don't know how she pulls off a nearly pain free Brazilian wax. She has to be a witch. I went in for my second waxing and I am sad to share that the services provided to me wasn't as good as my first appointment. While I was getting waxed, time flew by like a breeze but I didn't realize until the following day as I looked closely that the "landing strip" wasn't symmetrically even on the sides. Before the waxing began, I did request to have the back leg hairs removed but that wasn't done either - I guess it was b/c Nadia and I were so caught up with talking that she forgot, and so did I. I didn't notice it during my first visit then but noticed it on my second visit that I wasn't comfortable how I undressed and hopped on the table in front of Nadia. May be it's from my previous spa experiences but the estheticians always leave the room to give me a moment to get myself ready before the services start. Then they knock and come in. This doesn't seem to be a practice of Nadia or Aspira itself? I don't know. I really miss the quiet, relaxing, not-so-bright of a room to get waxing done at - it helps me to just ease down and relax. I have had uneven eyebrow shape for the past three years. No matter how desperately I tried I could not even out the shape. Finally I have even, gorgeous, eyebrows. This yelp review for Linda Price is way overdue!! I have been going to Linda for facials for over ten years. She is the absolute best and the only person I will allow to touch my face! Linda takes her time and is very meticulous about her work. She is gentle and thorough with the extractions. Linda is also very professional and knowledgeable. She is also very fun to chat with during the facial as well! I get a ton of compliments on my complexion, but I never accept them without crediting Linda! Worth the drive from the city. I'm a total snob about skin care, waxing & the like. I was lucky enough to find Nadia when I moved here last year and I would follow here anywhere she went. She is solid and knows her stuff. And entertains me greatly :) It is only enchanced by the atmosphere & continual evolution @ Aspira. The proprietor does sound therapy (not sure if that's the accurate description) and they also have an acupuncturist. The last time I got a Brazilian wax I swore I would never do it again. It was so painful I was writhing on the table, which was not padded mind you. I could not believe how easy it was with Nadia at Aspira. She uses the best wax and has excellent technique. She also was able to throw in a eyebrow wax at the last minute. And she was very entertaining as another reviewer pointed out, which was also totally distracting! Now that I've had such a great experience I plan on keeping it up and will try other services there! This review is primarily for Nadia (who by the way is AWESOME). She's officially my west coast waxer. I've been on the search for a good waxer in the area for months now. I've had a few awful experiences (if you read my reviews you'll know exactly where) so it was SUCH a relief to finally find a waxer that knows what she's doing. I've had both brazilian and underarms done here and both had the speediest recovery out of any other waxing I've had done in the area. Although I don't really think Brazilians are painful Nadia's technique (for those who are scared sh**less about this experience) ensures that it is as painless as possible. In addition - the second you get into a room with Nadia you feel like you've been buddies for years. She chats, you chat, and somehow time flies by and next thing you know you're out the door fresh and clean. For the reviewer who said she ended up leaving with some extra hair - that did happen to me once but I called Nadia and asked for a touch-up and she was on top of it! It was no big deal - I came in and she was super friendly and made sure I walked out of there completely satisfied so next time just give them a call back and they'll be glad to retouch :) Why not 5 stars then? Honestly it is such a minor thing but still - every time I call I get an answering machine. And being that I hate having my phone on ringer I end up playing phone tag with Aspira. A total minor thing but for me it really helps to have someone to speak with when I call. Lydia does my facials and Angela does my waxing. I book the appointments together on a monthly basis. I love the space, it quaint, quiet and not a salesy-spa place. Lydia takes great care to do a thorough job. What I love most is the relaxation she provides. Between various skin treatments, she provides massage of the neck, shoulders, arms and hands. then she'll just step out of the room and I usually doze off for about 15 minutes. I love it!! Nadia is the absolute best for brazillian waxes!! I found her while she was working at the Estheticians in San Mateo. I stopped getting brazillians for about a year while I was in school and just recently started up again. Thinking I might save 10 bucks, I looked on craigslist and found what was supposedly the most painless Brazillian at Trenz in Burlingame. That experience was way more painful, and then I remembered Nadia and how great she was! Luckily, I was able to find Nadia on yelp. Aspira is super clean and easy to find with plentiful parking. She is so fun to talk to that it seriously isn't even weird that she's waxing down there! Besides being fun to talk to, its quick and almost painless, and she really makes it smooth. Im addicted again and will be back every 3 weeks. I have seen 4 other estheticians for this same service and by far Nadia is the best. I would like to give them 10 stars if I can! I changed my appointment 3 times, and I was late. When I meet Nadia, I was surprised, she looks different from the photo on this site. She is pretty. But, beside her beauty, her skill is fantastic! The second time having brazilian, but first time with Nadia. That first time wax wasn't bad....but the wax with Nadia, it's perfect!! She uses high quality wax, and chat with me. We talked about the weather, the business, and also about marriage life, etc.( girls-talk) you know. And I hardly feel that my hair is being pulled. it's nice and clean, no burning feel at all!! She is amazing! Strong recommend everyone who needs brazilian to see Nadia! Especially the first timer! :-) oh, they have parking lot in front of their store. So, easy parking! The inside is nice, quite, and clean. I had a early appointment, so I haven't had a chance to sit in their nice waiting area yet.... The price is normal, but considering her skill... it worth more than what they charge! I found out about Aspira through all the great reviews left on Yelp and I asked for Nadia since most of the yelpers recommended her. When I first walked in, the front desk was very friendly and you can smell the chocolate baked goodies on the table. The decor is very minimal but cozy and I noticed that it is very clean. Nadia introduced herself to me and right off the bat, I felt very comfortable with her. She is cute, spunky and talkative, kinda like a friend you've known for a while. I told her that I wanted to grow my sparse brows out and I just wanted them cleaned up. She was really helpful, and knew what I was talking about. I've been waxing my brows since I was 14 and over the years, I've had to try out a lot of different beauticians since I move around a lot. This left me with thin eyebrows and it doesn't help that my hair doesn't naturally grow in thick. Nadia waxed, plucked and trimmed my eyebrows in 15 minutes. While the end result was not quite different from what I came in with, she showed me that my arch was starting too soon and that in a couple months my hair should grow fuller and then she can go into shaping my brows better. I'm only giving three stars, not because I don't love Nadia or Aspira. The customer service was impeccable and even though my wax was a minimal one, Nadia gave me undivided attention. I just think that I have had better waxes at lower prices. The $20 eyebrow wax + tip was a bit much for the end result and I'm used to a cleaner trim. But please don't let my review deter you from Aspira! If you have cash to spend, go get the 5 star treatment here. Being a recent college grad, it's not exactly affordable for me. FYI- Nadia told me that tinting your eyebrows are only $15! That's a steal compared to other places. Also they only used vegetable based tints and not chemical ones but the downside is that they last only 1 month or so. If I try tinting I will tell you how it goes! read more

I have been to a few places for facials and Aspira gives one of the best. Other places just massages your face, neck and shoulder, but Aspira actually addresses your skin and facial issues. My husband also had a facial and he has a completely different skin from me and they gave him a different treatment. It's nice that they cater to the person's skin needs. My usual lady in the city was booked so I called Aspira on the Tuesday before 4th of July for a wax and was able to get in on that Wednesday! I had tried a few other places and didn't have the same luck. I got an appointment with Nadia and she is really awesome. I felt really comfortable with here which when getting a brazilian wax in hard to do. She was really nice and her room was pretty calming too. She did a great job and gave me tips on how to get a clean wax. I can't say it was painless because let's face it having hair ripped from that area for me will never be painless but it was very close and she was super nice. I've been seeing Lydia since May of 2011. I went in with adult acne (especially on my jawline) that I couldn't get rid of. After just 2 treatments (peels) my skin was remarkable better. I continue to see Lydia for maintenance about once/month. My skin looks fabulous and I finally don't have skin that looks like a teenager. I'm amazed how Lydia finds the "recipe" that your skin needs and knows when to vary it for better results. Lastly, she just moved a few doors down into a new spot. I love it! Lydia completely redesigned it to have a retro-modern feel. The colors are soothing and the furniture is really fun. I find it refreshing to be in this environment vs. a typical spa. Thanks to Yelpers, I found Nadia. It may really be hard to believe that a bikini or Brazilian wax could be almost pain free... BUT IT IS! She has her own technique that makes it a very pleasant experience. Mind you, this is coming from a person who thinks paper cuts are a form of slow death. It is also worthy to mention that Nadia is warm, personable and makes you feel at ease. I had to find another person as the last one just made my eyes tear up alongside the occasional yelps (no pun intended). I also used to walk out of the salon feeling wax sticky (ugh!). Nadia makes sure that everything is cleaned up. The salon is very neat and no double dipping at all. I will now be one of the regulars and since I owe it to other reviewers here that I found Nadia, I thought I'd "give back" and let everyone know of my wonderful experience with her. Her amazing personality and accommodating attitude make it a pleasure to visit once a month for a Brazilian wax, which in general is not the kind of appointment that one looks forward to. Not only is the service as "pain-free" as it can get, but Nadia's strict attention to detail leaves me completely satisfied with the results and completely assured that everything is done to the highest standards of cleanliness. So I've been to a lot of places to get Brazilians, and the fact of the matter is no matter where you go, you're gonna have to deal with some minor uncomfortable sensations in your whoohaw. That being said I would HIGHLY recommend going to Tatiana! She makes you feel totally comfortable despite the somewhat precarious situation you're in. She is so sweet, does a great job, and gets it done quickly! If you're looking for a quality Brazilian wax, with someone who knows what she's doing and who is great to talk to look no further. P.S.
