We try to hit an escape room every so often, rarely doing fabulously but always having fun. Our party of 5 escaped (with a handful of hints) from Grayside Manor on a midday visit last Friday. We all really enjoyed it, ranking it among our top 5 escapes. Multiple rooms involved, some unique aspects we hadn't encountered before, and lots to keep all of our group moving and working the whole hour. Truthfully we missed some easy clues, but we found the room to be constantly entertaining without being too hard or too easy. We decided to try this location prior to dinner. We are huge escape room fans and this place has been highly rated and recommended. Sadly we were running 5 minutes late finding a parking spot. Upon entering, the clock was already running and we were off and running to solve the many clues for the Melville Serial Killer. The game is very linear and the aesthetics feel like what you might find searching for such a villain! Good: - aesthetics - puzzle quantity - puzzle variety Bad: - We missed the video since they started the clock and apparently missed a critical clue - One of the locks was faulty and opened on an incorrect clue which led us on a goose chase - Game Master should have seen this issue when we asked for the same clues repeatedly - too many same # numeric locks where you were entering the same code into 4 different random boxes without any indication of what clue went which which box All in all a little disappointed based on maybe the rocky start and faulty locks. We tried the Greyside Manor room and it was a pretty challenging experience--in a good way! The puzzles were well-designed and definitely kept us thinking. My two little ones (both under 10) weren't able to participate much due to the difficulty level, so I'd say this room is better suited for older kids or adults. That said, we still had a great time overall. The staff member we worked with was incredibly friendly and gave just the right amount of help to keep things moving without spoiling the fun. Bonus points for the full bar onsite--a nice touch if you're looking to relax before or after your game. We'll definitely be back to try a different room! read more

Wish I had pictures of my experience! One the under ground location is not just stairs they do have an elevator! The staff was very polite and super attentive. I came here for a friend's birthday to do my first escape room. There was some confusion when we booked it. Everyone was booking their own ticket, and their website closes the room once one person books a ticket. We just had to call to reserve the correct number of people who were coming, and paid when we got there. We had a blast! Even though we were in what was listed as the hardest room, we finished with 14 minutes to spare. Personally I am not clever or good at riddles, so I thought I would be useless in the game, but even I was able to figure it out. The bar has cute drinks that come with rubber ducks, so be sure to order one! They can deliver drinks into your game. I do want to include, there were no Covid precautions taking place. Popped in for a weeknight nightcap and we were the only ones in the bar. At first we seemed like we were kind of unwelcome visitors, but the bartender warmed up a bit and ended up being funny and wonderful - they even showed us how to play one of the games on the bar we'd never heard of. Drink prices were very reasonable and I could see how this would be a fun bar for a group with all the games they had. My friends and I have done all of the rooms except the cavern. My two favorites were the Greystone Manner and Alcatraz. Alcatraz was fun being stuck in 2 cells at the beginning and working your way out. Greystone was a little spooky, which fits savannah well. We went here on a Friday afternoon. We made a reservation online we had arrived 15min before our time slot. One thing that was cool is that there is a bar where the escape room is so while we waited he had a drink. The bartenders were very friendly. Tasha was our games host and she was very nice. This was the worst room we have ever done, and as a family we have done more than a dozen in many states, the son, who's birthday we were celebrating, has done more than 30 and was SO disappointed. First, I know I reserved the manor room only to find out the next morning we had been moved to the serial killer room. I called and they "generously" agreed to move us back. We now know why. When we arrived the young lady at the desk finally removed her feet from it and asked us to sign in. As we were waiting for our 4th (parking the car), we ordered drinks, none of which had any theme toward the escape room, (so know that it is a bar in the same building but no real contact with escape room). Went into the room, was told a brief spiel about it, including that they would provide as many clues as possible, which was weird. 5 minutes in we discovered the lock to the second room had never been reset, but then told "oops, well, just ignore that until you figure out the rest". Seemed a bit discombobulated, but continued. Second room had no rhyme or reason to the puzzles, the individual who was our "helper" must of left for a period as he turned into the voice of a she and we had to tell him everything we had solved. As with many rooms, very little maintenance so when told to look at the floor to solve a hidden panel, seemed silly. Final room had one small puzzle and we returned to finish. Again, no rhyme or reason to any puzzle, only to be told by the guy who returned to say we finished that some of it wasn't working and show us the "jump scare", which should have been hidden from the beginning but had been fully visible. There seemed to have been about 4-5 missing puzzles, including the final one, no continuation of story. Disappointing and confusing and would never recommend to anyone, too many other options in town. Up side was friendly bartenders, drinks very strong but really not great flavor, but the ladies making them were sweet and nice. read more

3 of us did the grey stone manor escape room. We enjoyed the creativity BUT 2 of the puzzles malfunctioned (even though we solved them correctly). We asked for help Through the walkie talkie but received very little help. Consequently we ran out of time. The attendant came in and gave us the bum's rush. No apology and no offer to give us any additional time. When we asked the him questions, he provided hurried responses and was unfriendly. We were lured in with $1 jello shots which honestly should have been cents because they were so tiny and the orange tasted as if it had been sitting for weeks. I did not know that this bar had an escape room. Those are so much fun to do with a group. The bartender here was nice and drinks were okay. I ordered a Jack and Sprite and a friend ordered the Moscow Mule which tasted, "off". They do have several games here and although my uncle in law and I decided to play on a broken tabletop foosball, it was fun. The men's restroom was in such a odd place and smelled funny, it was also dripping water from a vent right above the urinal. I heard the women's restroom wasn't much better. I enjoyed the experience "Tommy Gun!" We were 2 locks away from escaping! We made it to the final room before running out of time! I consider myself a newbie but I will say that the other Escape Room I went to seemed to be alot more thought out and we really didn't need to be given tons of clues.... walked in and was 2 minutes late and wanted to take a shot before we started, the game master freaked out and walked out and started screaming at us to a co- worker about how we left her and she couldn't handle it. the manager then proceeded to yell at us and didn't even asked about the situation. we are 3 bartenders in the service industry and the way this situation was handled was immature, the blonde bartender, who was super nice, tried to refund us but the manager without knowing the situation yelled at us and denied the refund. there is an escape room down the road however that was super nice! We thought they wouldn't be able to get us in right away, but they made it happen! We did the suburban serial killer room and it was hard and sooo fun. Honestly I would give it less than 1 if I could. I'm sad to write this because looking at all the pictures and seeing such high reviews across the board brought us in with some expectations, but they were all crushed. And while on vacation, too. We walked in about ten minutes early and nobody was at the front desk. It's okay, it happens sometimes they're off being game masters or at the bathroom or something. Nah, he's just chilling in the back watching Task Master on the television. He comes up, has us sign the sheet, and informs someone else that we're here early and to get ready. As I go use the restroom, my partner is brought to the back to wait with the host as he resumes sitting back down and our game master pops out to introduce himself as Antoine and pours himself a cup of beer. We go into the room, he starts giving a spiel and gets distracted by me, thinking I'm an old friend of his. Apparently that threw him off because after that his disinterest was very obvious. He rushed the end of the spiel and went off to start the game. We waited around for a long while before the timer even started, and then we started the room. All the doors were unlocked, some of the puzzles were left solved, and when we asked for some advice for looking for a puzzle piece Antoine suggested doing something else when there was nothing else to do. Conceptually the room was fine, and it would have been a lot more fun for us if the room was prepared correctly and the game master seemed at least slightly more interested in the game and us being there. That last part is so important because as we finished the room, we had zero sign that we finished. We found the thing, and then... nothing. We opened the final door ourselves, which had zero indication that it was the final door because, again, it was unlocked. (In fact, we opened it before even finished the room because it was left unlocked and accidentally scared the next party standing just outside the door). We pop out of the room, look around, and there's the host again sitting on the sofa, surprised to see us. We show confusion saying I think we did it, he asks if the timer has stopped and we say nope. He disappears for a moment, returns, and tells us that the timer should stop soon. The timer does stop and then eventually Antoine pops out says congratulations! ... Have a good night! That was it. No interest in how it went, no opportunity for us to ask questions, not even a chance to take a picture. Just a very unceremonious "have a good night." The entire experience left a very bad taste in our mouths and we've never had to write a review like this before but here we are. We've done over 200 rooms, and we've seen good rooms and we've seen bad rooms. Usually the worst rooms only fault is in the quality of the material, because at least the people make it fun and worth a revisit and the rooms are properly set up albeit with low quality equipment. This experience has the worst staff we have ever experienced who very clearly didn't want to be there, so we won't be either. read more

Fun time for the entire family. You have one hour to escape the scenario, of which they have about three. The business was obviously set up in a location where they used the space available, rather than building the inside to their needs. This limits what they can do. The main space is a bar, which is what you see from the entrance. So it's really a Bar & Games business, but there weren't many drinkers when we were there. Only negative is most of the clues were repeatedly inside boxes or drawers with four-digit padlocks on them, and some of the locks were difficult to open even with the combo. C'mon guys, get creative with some fresh ideas on hiding clues and using your space wisely. Free games in the back were a nice bonus. They have several board games, 2x4-sized Jenga, huge Scrabble, and other options. We actually had more fun playing free Jenga than escaping the room. Check Groupon for possible discounts before coming; we got about 50% off the regular price. read more

We did it! We caught the serial killer and escaped! This was a first time for me going to one of these but was with a group who had done a few of these. There was 8 of us total (family) and it was pretty fun. A little repetitive with the combo locks on boxes and drawers (that was the minus one star), but overall a great experience. I did a review for this place for my Birthday but I can't seem to find it, so I'll do it again. I came here for my Birthday back in January. I told everyone in my party to go online to book their tickets. A couple of my friends and myself went ahead and booked our ticket. But one of my other friends didn't do it until later. She texted me to let me know they didn't have any more books for our date and time. I called the main office and they told me they closed off that time and date so "no outside our party could book it". I thought that was the coolest thing and the smartest thing I have ever heard before!!! When we got there the people who were in charge was SO SWEET! I got a free jello shot for my birthday and I even got a glass cup ($5 extra I think). The lady told us the rules and lead us in. We had a walkie talkie to talk to them or ask for clues. We had a hard corse but we finished with 14 minutes to spare. It wasn't what I was expecting but still had a ton of fun. I went back to the Hideaway Lounge last weekend with different friends and we had a blast there as well! Their jello shots were only $1 so we loaded up on those. They had a ton of people there so they were already out of fun glasses. I ended up getting just a Bud Light beer which was $7 (ouch). read more

I'm from Central Florida and am very familiar with The Escape Co.'s Orlando site. I have done all five rooms there, so I made it a priority to seek out their Savannah site while on vaca. Located in the more touristy part of Savannah, their basement level location was easy to find. I found the interior to be elegant with dim lights, beautiful design, lots of indoor seating, cool A/C on a hot day, and a working bar that serves both alcohol and soft drinks. As of June 2018, there were two rooms available for guests: Suburban Serial Killer and Greyside Manor. Suburban Serial Killer is a replica of an Orlando room, so we were limited to Greyside Manor during our visit which ended up being well-worth the stop. It was surprisingly challenging and we were on the last step when our time was called. So close!! This was our 29th escape room experience and we have only failed four times so that's saying something. The Escape Co. is filled with personable staff who genuinely want you to have a great time. Out of all the escape room businesses we have encountered, The Escape Co. is one of our favorites. Check them out! FYI: Manage your time accordingly: Metered street parking and nearby public parking garage. No private lots in this area of Savannah. Parking is at a premium during certain times of the year so plan to arrive before your game is set to begin. read more
