I contacted Enchanted Garden because I was looking for a contractor to plant an alternative lawn of low-growing thyme in my front yard. I left a message and Nancy quickly called me back. She was so helpful. She told me upfront that creeping thyme lawns don't do well in the hot and humid DC weather conditions and that it would basically be a Sisyphean task to try to grow in my front yard. She recommended installing a drainage system and said that even then I would probably be patching the yard nonstop. She then spent quite a long time talking to me about the conditions in my yard and eventually suggested that I try to plant a flat and see how it goes - and very helpfully suggested some interim strategies that I could use to fill in my front yard in the meantime. It was tremendously useful conversation for me, and Nancy was very generous with her time. (I think many garden contractors would have very happy to take the contract and worry about the fallout later, so I appreciated her asking me to try a small patch first.) I will take her advice so I didn't end up hiring her - but if the planting goes well this fall, I most certainly will give her another call in the spring. I was very impressed. read more
