Few places in the vicinity offer a nice well thought out menu hat brings together land, air, sea items into a very delicious concoction menu item. The service staff is very attentive and I believe the owner who works there is very hospitable and really knows his food, coffee, etc. We ordered several items ranging from oysters, smoked salmon, beef ribs, fish of the day, scallops and dessert and we thoroughly enjoyed all of the items. Recently opened for a few weeks, i have been meaning to try the restaurant. So a friend and I decided to stop by. You can choose to sit inside or in the outdoor courtyard which we opted to as the word heaters were mentioned. The courtyard is beautif Since they are still relatively new they menu is currently limited to two pages but they keep adding specials every week. The first page consists of tasting plates - Antipasti plates and the second consists of mains. We were advised that they encourage people to share all the dishes. We decided to get 4 items from the tasting menu so 2 cheese and 2 cold meats which came to $30 and bread was included for free! We got a basket of assorted crisp bread, crackers and multigrain to have with out tasting plates. I would have to say it may not look like much but the tasting plates can get filling so if you are getting mains as well best try not to eat all the bread! Staff were very attentive and helpful when it came to the selections on the menu. Overall, good first time visit. Looking forward to going back to try some of the mains. They also serve breakfast from 7am to 11am - I also would like to try this. read more

I ended up here by accident after the queue at another place was too long - and I'm glad we did! First of all, if you come on a Sunday for brekkie make sure you take advantage of the 3hr free parking directly behind The Emporium in the parking station. What first really hits you about this place is the appearance. They've really gone to a lot of trouble and expense to give it a european feel and it works. There is a bakery and cafe window on one side opening out onto a small paved area with seats if you just wanted a coffee and a small bit to eat. If you head inside its divided up into three main parts; inside, upstairs, and the covered courtyard on the side. Just look at the photos - the place looks amazing. I'd read other negative reviews about their coffee - I usually go a latte with an extra shot and the coffee I got was as good as anything I'd had anywhere else. Foodwise I had the truffle oil scrambled eggs with parmesan on sourdough. I have to admit when it came out I though the serving was a bit small. But as I worked my was through it I realised it was just right. The staff were amazing too. It was almost like the service you get in the US - always topping up your water, checking on you, etc. Nothing was too much trouble. About the only downside I saw were the prices on their wine list - if drinking there doesn't earn you the Yelp high roller badge I don't know what will! They're great for a lazy breakfast and I'll definitely be back to try out their lunch and dinner offerings! read more

Came here after our first option was a no go with my girl. Service is actually top notch. No one here is rude or unaccommodating. Water refills, questions asking whether everything is ok and food coming out quickly. (Approx 20 people in the place this morning) Ordered Clean and green - drink 10 aud Detox - drink 10 aud Both drinks were refreshing and nice. About 400ml each but a little pricier than anticipated. We both enjoyed them though. Brekkie burger 14 aud Brekkie burger was amazing. Id get this everytime. Great balance in flavours, just lacking portion. I think ill eat lunch in 2 hrs! As far as cafes in Parramatta go, this is pretty much as good as it gets. Really nice decor and ambience as you can see from the photos. I enjoyed their brunch menu with a glass of white wine and was well pleased with everything including a most helpful waitress helping me with the menu items and the choice of wine to match my meal. Best place I've been to in Parramatta in teams of hipness - it's like the smaller Westie version of The Grounds of Alexandria. Beautiful rustic feel with a semi-outdoor dining area with greenery and fresh air. The food menu is diverse though not too large. I had the spanner crab pasta which was a bit rich in terms of butter but very delicate and tasty. We first came here when this restaurant was so fresh from opening the dust was still present on the furniture. The interior reminded me of a rustic French-Italian inspired sett. At first, they didn't have a complete menu available, only a "tasting menu" which consisted of cheese & cured meats platters. We tried this and thought it was well enough but we figured we'd return when the restaurant had enough time to develop a full menu. Next time we came back, they finally concocted a dinner menu together. They weren't busy yet but we still booked a reservation and were seated indoors from the cold. Our waiter was very attentive and very friendly, almost like those waiters you'd experience in France. He seemed to recognise my partner even. He spoke of many things I couldn't pay attention to about the menu. I know some people like to be reassured whether their food choice is going to be good but really what waiter would say otherwise? So Mr talkative aside, we made our dinner selections. I gave this restaurant 4 stars because the pork belly I ordered that day was bloody fantastic. I don't know if it's still on their revolving menu but order it if you get the chance. The waiter recommended their potato gnocchi so we went with that too. I will be honest, as always and say this restaurant is not cheap. I don't know if its the location or the effort involved when they built the place but I don't think it needs to charge the prices they do. It would be a great contender if they lowered the cost a little bit. To match the quality of food. Perhaps they're trying to define themselves as fine dining in Parramatta, who knows. Still noone wants another Crinitis style dining experience. They have a side bakery opening near the carpark serving baked goods, pastries and coffee for on-the-go. A few French treats as well. We've dropped by to buy some more often than going inside to eat lunch. The last time we came here was for breakfast, the aforementioned restaurant weren't serving it anymore (at the time) so we wandered along to here out of curiosity if they would be doing a brunch of some sort. It was very busy at this point but they were able to seat us. Brunch was intriguing and tasteful. We ordered simply for ricotta pancakes and breakfast burger which were satisfying. I would most likely return here for breakfast/brunch again than dinner. read more

Parramatta needed a really nice place for us locals to relax. So I hoped it would be good. But that was not the case, but it's early days. The waitress girls were very nice and very happy to help. Breakfast menu was too short not many options and if you are a vegetarian bad luck. No hash brown no mushrooms for ordering extra! Coffees don't have any syrups, probably Italians dont approve it, that's alright. I can take all of these, that's alright. Now Comes the breakfast, toast and scrambled eggs. Toasts were burned and charry, the nice waitress replaced it. Seasoning of the eggs were done by the chef!! Probably to save space on table! Don't have to keep salt and pepper. It was too salty I couldn't eat, sure if I told her she would have changed it, but didn't want to be a cry baby. How was the breakfast sir? Really good thank you! Will try dinner next time read more

Had a wonderful evening with a glass of Australian vino. Our table was sat next to the owners and they were very welcoming and provided us samples of their meals! Everything tasted wonderful.. It's a cute little hole in the wall. No seriously, we parked at the parking garage next door and as we were walking out we realised that it was the ideal place to have our coffee to take on the ferry to the City. And it was. The coffee was creamy and quite yummy - obviously they had people there that could make a good coffee with soy milk, totes approved. We also got some pastries which hit the spot too being that it was breakfast time. The pastries weren't out of this world, but then it's pretty hard to go wrong with croissants right? Right. Took my family here for dinner, excellent dinner. Share plates are encouraged and we ordered about 9 or so, fresh oysters, scallops, salads and heaps of others, all but the lamb was exceptional. Lamb was dry and tasteless. Inside it beautiful, a very very nice place to eat. Only downfall was our server who has no answer to the three questions I asked him About the menu which was disappointing since it tasted so good. Definitely worth going to. The food came out gradually which was excellent so it was almost like we ordered entree mains and desert rather than having everything coming out at once, and I suppose it would not have fit anyway! read more

My husband and I had dinner here midweek. The atmosphere is relaxed rather than fine dining. The serving staff were friendly and attentive although they don't seem to assign a dedicated waiter, we had 4 or 5 different people. We had a mix plate of two cheeses, prosciutto and hot salami to start. This was delicious and unexpectedly came with crackers, large slices of bread and garnished with slices of fig, olives, quince, chutney, peppers and a random piece of cauliflower. Already filling up on the entrée we decided to split a main - the ribs with maple glaze - and a side of fries. Both of these were delicious, the fries were on the chunky side but I like that. The ribs were actually one enormous rib and the meat was so tender and got eaten very very quickly. My one complaint is that for $40 you don't get a lot - a more substantial salad or some veggies would be nice. Dessert was the chocolate hazelnut delice and it was amazing. Very very rich but we loved it. Overall we had a lovely evening with great food, but I thought it was a bit pricey for the casual style of the restaurant read more

The emporium is a reasonably priced fine dining restaurant, not overly pompous but fine dining none the less, the chef has skills and it shows. The menu is reasonably priced, they have chosen to do a few things well rather than a 10 page menu. I had the chicken and it was delicious, many different taste elements all tie in to make a great dish. Others in my table had the steak and gnocchi and everyone was pleased. The fit out is unique and well done, and the staff are professional and friendly. Beers are limited but alcohol is there for the drinkers amongst us. The coffee was nice, not the best I've had but again it held its own. Overall the emporium pleases, doesn't blow your mind but definitely somewhere I'd go regularly I'd defiantly go back and recommend a visit read more

This place is gorgeous; inside and out. Walked past after midnight from a concert and the trees were lit up which looked charming. Inside has beautiful light wood tones, exposed brick and hanging plants. Perfectly chosen tables and chairs. I'm in love! Stayed directly across the road at a hotel so this was very convenient for a pre check out breakfast. Safe to say I felt underdressed amongst business types and women in heels and dresses at a meeting but the staff were friendly and unpretentious. Took a little while for our order to be taken as the first waitress came over before having a chance to pick anything and then got sidetracked cleaning up after said meeting. I veered waaaaayyyy left and ordered the chai-coconut chia pudding. Sadly I did not enjoy it but I will put that down to personal taste. It certainly looked beautiful and the lime honey was something different. My partner ordered the breakfast burger which had a nice wake up call of chipotle mayo to kick start those taste buds. The breakfast menu in general is quite modern; offering things I wouldn't normally see. The Emporium breakfast for instance at only $23 includes luxury ingredients like salmon and avocado that you'd normally have to order as extras. The breakfast in bed (served in a wooden tray) also looked great. Hot chocolate was delicious with a flavour I couldn't work out. Initially has a liqueur taste. If you are a group with any special needs. DO NOT BOOK HERE. They only do set banquet menus and do not give patrons any option not to have this. In this day and age it is disgraceful. They try to say it is because they cant get food out altogether and other excuses but a real kitchens have no issues with it and it says more about the place if they can serve an entire restaurant different meals but cant offer it to 1 table. The Emporium has been beautifully set up, it's in my opinion the nicest place in Parramatta. The food was disappointing. I ordered Avocado/feta toast. The bread had not been toasted well, and it could have had more feta cheese. My coffee was not great, it lacked texture and flavour. There was no salt and pepper shakers on the tables. The was one gentlemen, who could have been management, who tried very hard to ensure we received good service. This place has so much potential only if they stepped it up a notch or two. read more

We had to wait more than 10 minutes just to get a menu. After the waiter finally took our order (about another 15 mins) he came back 20 minutes later to reconfirm our order!. When the food finally arrived it was cold and horrible. We complained to the manager but it was obvious he wasn't really interested. Terrible experience. We won't go back there. read more

Nice place for a cheeky drink on a sunny day in Parramatta. Great range of drinks, ranging from reasonably priced right through to top end fine wines. Staff were very attentive and friendly despite the unusual time we arrived. Must come back for a meal some time. read more

I really want to like this place. I think with a few changes it could be great, they are just not quite there yet. I've been in twice now, first time after dinner out elsewhere for coffee and second time for food. The first time I was struck by the inappropriate and very loud music. Their decor suggests somewhere between industrial and Italian (which in itself is a bit odd). Their music suggests nightclub. There were seven of us and I was struggling to hear anything anyone was saying. Looking around at the evening crowd the age was twenty and thirty something's - maybe the twenty something's were ok with it but our table of thirty something's found it too much. I don't drink coffee but a few ordered mug sized coffees.. Which came out in a cup that definitely wasn't mug sized. I was after a cake, but their limited menu only had one choice. I understand they on their introductory menu at the moment, but maybe that should include more than one type of cake (which, from memory, was not really a cake but a coconut thing, obviously not memorable!). Second visit was myself and my husband for dinner, and they were still on the intro menu so choices were limited. We chose entree sized meals - which weren't actually marked as entrees on the menu and only found out when the waiter told us. Which again I had to strain to hear over the extremely loud music (this time a mega mix of the Rolling Stones or something equally inappropriate for the surroundings and the clientele, who at this time of night were mostly elderly!) I asked if I could have it as a main size. Apparently I could not. In the end the meal size was probably the size of a main at a hatted restaurant in the city, so the mains would probably be on par size wise as most Parra restaurants. The food itself was very good, I had grilled calamari on rocket with a corn purée and my husband the pork belly. I didn't stay for dessert as I had Messina on my mind But I assume it was still a limited choice. I think my biggest gripe was where I was seated. It would have been fine, if not for the proximity to the front door. Just outside the door was two smokers, and that's all I could smell all night. The front doors are enormous and I assume never closed while the restaurant is open, so stopping the smoke coming into the restaurant will forever be a losing battle. As I mentioned I think with a few tweaks the could make it great. There were ample staff, fairly attentive. It's early days so hopefully they iron the kinks out. read more

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. So much potential, so little substance. First, we were advised that there was no rhyme nor reason to the order the food would be served. Almost an apology. When we asked if a side order could come with a specific meal, the answer was 'no'. The first dish was lovely, but within 5 minutes the second dish arrived, and within a few minutes the third dish arrived. Upmarket fast food is how my husband described it. We weren't able to savour each dish, the whole lot was forced upon us. It wasn't a dining experience, it was an assault. The food itself was just okay. Nothing to write home about, and, at $40 for the cheapest bottle of wine, the place is too try hard and expensive for what you get. I would not recommend trying it out. I visited the restaurant with my family. The staff was courteous and friendly; the decor is really beautiful. But, sorry to say the meal was horrendous. I ordered a steak and was not as one would expect. The food was cold and the flavours were off. And the order took a long time to come to the table, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. There is a possibility that we ordered the wrong food that day, but one can't go wrong with a steak. I paid over a $120 for that meal and sorry but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone nor visit it again. read more
