There was 6-7 people cooking on Friday night, one people at each station. Thus the food come out very quickly! We learn the hard lesson by making a mistake of ordering everting at once. Sure enough all the 8 dishes were delivered within 20 minutes.... make sure to place your order one to two dishes at a time. Food was good. Yakitori juicy, Hotate was fresh, seaweed salad, grilled mackerel, all dishes we ordered were pretty good. Old fashioned fries are a good deal (for Aussie price). Plenty of sake choices. You can choose from 100ml or 300ml so you can taste a little first, to see which one you like. I'll come back here again.

Yebisu Izakaya has this nice and friendly vibe. Full of energy and the service was excellent! We…read morewere here on a weekday every for a light snack so the wait for table was around 10 minute. The ipad ordering system is well designed with detailed descriptions and wonderful photos. I did have a higher expectation with the food after reading all these 4/5 star reviews but nothing we ordered was really memorable. Maybe I did not order the right things? Good as a place to meet up with friends and have a drink but if you are looking for higher quality of Japanese fare, you might need to go somewhere. Just be careful the portion is tapas style and your bills can quickly added up if you want to have a full meal here.

They use a touch screen pad for the inside tables and a normal menu for the outdoor tables. Staff are friendly and efficient and happy to help you choose items off the menu if you are stuck. To start we got a few specials including the pork belly bao and the deep fried sole fish, then onto some grilled salmon and by this stage our bellies were getting full! So we opted to get 2 small desserts which was the banana split and the green tea cake roll. Overall, good food with lots of flavour. If you visit do try and get a seat inside because its pretty fun to order off the menu.

I tell Melle that the last time I came here that the sushi and sashimi were so tasty and fresh. She nods but it's not until she starts eating the salmon nigiri and sashimi that her eyes light up and says ohhh wow this is really fresh and tasty. Yuri then explains which tuna is which. There are three grades of tuna available on the menu tonight. Melle prefers the medium grade and we all enjoy the usual tuna grade sashimi and nigiri which is typically served in restaurants. The usual tuna grade is a deep purple. Yuri explains that the lighter the tuna, the higher the grade. The highest grade is fatty and delicate. I love it!

So it's been 2 years since my last review. I still love this place as much I have the first time…read more My most recent visit was on Sunday post Mardi Gra. I was happy to see it not packed. To ease into a Sunday. But noticed lines for brunch places which I deem sub-standard. Social media has a lot to answer for crap places that cost too much and too much hype. As time passed, more patrons rolled in. They close at 5pm in Surry Hills. But Barangaroo is open everyday. Btw, they do sell that yummy Unami sprinklings on their chips these days in a bottle. My biggest gripe is that the only dessert on offer is a mochi. But now they also have soft serve ice cream. White chocolate and rose flavour. But for me, I wish they had their old desserts. But not enough patrons. So I understand that.

I don't understand the fanfare. The food relies on established taste combinations and brings…read morenothing truly new or inventive to the table. I had the ebi burger which, in my opinion, is a western friendly burger that borders on being adventurous but is just shrimp cutlets, a dairy based sauce, and burger buns. Nothing new in the taste and tasted exactly as expected. Also ordered the naked ume burger with an extra patty and found it dry, almost muted and kinda a waste of a meal. The fried brussel sprouts were decent but not good enough for me to return just for them. I think not...
