Straight up, hands down, balls out, one of my favourite Sydney bars. It's cosy, it's intimate, there's booths and giant white wax drippy candles, there's cheap food, great cocktails, friendly staff, snuggly booths, stools at the bar, an outdoor patio with ace Crown Street people watching, there's even a damn piano. A piano! That's pretty much the cherry on top. The real measure of a bar is this formula: (How many times you visit) ÷ (how many of those visits you have a great time at) = (the lower the score the better, with 1 being the ultimate). So my equation becomes (all of them) ÷ (all of them) = 1, which tops out at the highest score possible. I have literally never had a crap time here. From first dates to catchups with friends to solo drinks because you can't always roll with the wolf pack, Low 302 crushes them all. Long may it reign. read more

Don't bother coming here unless (males) you boast a carefully groomed facial hair situation or (females) you're decked out in rockabilly threads and retro red lippy. Ok, so they will let you in if you're not a bona fide Surry Hills local, but be warned you'll stick out in this hipster haunt. That said, it's a reliable little den for a good atmosphere without too many people pushing you about, as well as an impressive selection of spirits for such a small bar. They don't have too many wines on offer by the glass, so go for a cocktail instead. In the surrounding area where fellow small bars tend to shut up shop come midnight (I'm looking at you, Pocket Bar/The Winery/Shady Pines Saloon), Low 302 stays busy quite late and they won't kick you off their street facing sofas 'til two in the morning. read more

This place is unprofessional rude and disgusting and I hope they go out of business they called out a person by name on Facebook for not calling to cancel a reservation yet they had no idea if this person and their party had a medical emergency or someone died or a car accident etc. Its unprofessional for a business to publicly shame people especially when they had no idea what happened to their customer and had zero regard for an emergency that could prevent someone from cancelling such as possibly dying in a hospital bed etc. Emergency can happen all the time. Shame on this place you dont deserve to be in business shame on you rude and unprofessional. Bet you'll feel like true assholes if u find out someone died or was injured or had a stroke or any other emergency. Grow up and learn professionalism. read more

Went here for a friend's birthday on a Saturday night and was really surprised! I was expecting some tiny, loud hipster bar with no where to sit but instead got a really chill little bar instead. Inside was mainly made up of big booths which were great for groups. The service was excellent. The drink by drink table service was great which I really think helped with congestion at the bar because service was pretty efficient. The food was excellent. The gigantic charcuterie board looked fantastic, great to share. $10 pizzas were small but damn tasty. The lamb skewers were a little disappointing. A good spot for smallish groups, to be able to have a chat, have some decent food and a cocktail or two, then consider Low 302. read more

A friend recommended Low 302 and said let's go try it. So we went here on a Sunday night around 10:30 and there was still a lot of people inside and that looked like a good thing. When I walked inside and looked around, I felt the place would be a great place to have a drink and chat. The place inside looks good and when we found ourselves sitting at a table, one of the staff came asking if we were here for food or drinks and then gave us some menus which is I think was nice of them to do. We got some cocktails which were a bit pricey but I guess it's also normal in other places as well. The drinks were great, the atmosphere and the service was good. I think I would stop by again if I'm in this part of town looking for a good place to go after 10 pm. read more

Apart from the fact that Low 302 is open past midnight, there really is nothing appealing about it. Honestly. The only reason I can think that it's still open is because it's in Surry Hills and therefore "trendy" rather than trashy. But if this red-light joint was in the city, it would be easily disregarded as a no-go spot. I kept hearing about the "sexy, 1920's ambiance," but I found nothing 20's nor sexy about it at all! Sure it's dimly lit by red light, and sure there are gigantic black velvet curtains, but the execution just falls flat. The drinks were expensive and the ambiance was confusing - people were chatting away at high tables to the beat of old music hits you'd wish you'd never hear again. Bummer. read more

How many times have you been booted from the cool Crown Street cocktail bar you love at their closing time of 12am, only to be left with much seeder Oxford Street or, worse, Kings Cross as your options for kicking on? Well if you're like me, this has happened to you before. Enter: Low 302. Up near the Oxford end of Crown, this steamy, sexy spot has 1960s jazz lounge written all over it. They can mix you up a MEAN cocktail here, whether it be something from their carefully crafted menu, or something out of your own crazy imagination. I recently ordered my favorite drink, a Sazerac, which is a New Orleans-style whiskey cocktail from the 1800s. I often get sideways looks of puzzlement when ordering this. But no, no... the Low 302 bartender looked like he had struck it rich (I can only imagine that after making the one-hundredth vodka-fresh lime-soda in a night, a real bartender might want to claw his own eyes out). He made the drink perfectly, and much to my delight, finished it off with the proper singed twist of orange peel. Most recently, I went on a Wednesday night for dinner at the early hour 8pm. We grabbed two seats on the front patio and ordered a salmon tartar ($15) a charcuterie board ($23) and two glasses of red. Mmmm, the meats were beautiful; thin, salty, and rich. The tartar was quite tasty as well with a hint of avocado, chili and coriander. I might have ordered one other item if I knew how small the portions were going to be, but after two more glasses of wine, we felt pretty darn satisfied upon leaving. read more

Recently moving the the area, the norm is to go out, find new bars in the hope to find those "go to places" that you trust and love. Coming to this bar for the first time last week was a nice experience and therefore we thought we had found somewhere that had that "vibe" of relaxation and welcoming nature. The dark mood lighting, comfortable seating and relaxing music all add to the charm of this place that helps to ignore the multiple cockroaches walking up the wall and compete for your dinner. When it comes to closing time, the shift/manager assigned that evening (10.Nov.2016) physically came up to us and asked us to leave in such an aggressive manner just because she thought we were passed out but we were just exhausted after working all day. I've only been to this bar once but it's my new favourite because of the vibe and atmosphere. The dancing area is so seventies with velvet curtains on the walls. Makes me want some yay(wink). Disco music and good times. Great for dancing and boozing. I just had vodka but they look like they make good drinks. read more

Stepping into Low on Crown Street, I felt like I'd tripped back in time (or on to the set of Underbelly Razor). This dimly lit bar has a distinct 1920's vibe to it, making me wish I'd come in full Slapper dress every time. There's a big old-school coffee machine churning out delicious coffee, whilst the friendly staff shake you a 'Coco Lopez' (one of many equally cool cocktails on their list), served in a ceramic tiki glass. Low is an experience as much as a venue and is perfect for drinks early on in the night - it's quiet enough for a chat and you're sober enough to still remember the experience tomorrow. read more

Dark, brooding and hip, Low 32 seems like the kinda place Jarmusch's 'Only Lovers Left Alive' vampires would hang. The cocktail list is interesting and the food choices short and sweet. We tried a small selection of both and they did not disappoint. Go late, wear black and feel infinitely cool. read more

Ok first thing - this place does BUFFALO WINGS. Not quite as delicious as in the USA, but pretty close. The leather covered grand piano and the velvet decor is interesting... but it's a fun place to go if you're in the area and looking to keep your night going past midnight. read more

I think the staff here are amazing. They are super friendly and helpful. The food is lacking passion. The mixed grill is great value for money but it was served Luke warm. We sent it back and it still wasn't hot. Atmosphere is vibrant though so if you're just coming here for a drink, then this is a good choice read more

A great little bar with a brilliant enclosed outside seating area, perched right on Crown Street. It makes an excellent people-watching spot, and a great place to relax in the evening sun with a cocktail after work. Inside, the vibe is much the same, smart but relaxed and busy with 'cool young things'. On Friday night it was pretty busy (unsurprisingly) so we sat perched at the bar. I liked to watch the barmen make some fairly crazy cocktails - their cocktail list is extensive and unusual. They also have a food menu which looks great, although I didn't try any. This is a great place to come to start a big night out, or just to have a few more relaxed drinks with friends. It's interesting with a great atmosphere and conveniently close to the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street, without being right next to it. read more

I wish I could give MINUS 5 stars. I don't know what the staff get paid for honestly because it is definitely not for working... Every time I've been there I've had to chase down the waitresses or beg for their attention just to take my tables order and had to end up going to the counter to order it myself. Every time. Worst service and the RUDEST staff I've ever come across in any establishment. They wander around and are more interested in talking to their fellow employees than anything else. I think that they purposefully avoid working(!?) I suggest the owners fire every single one of them and start the place anew. read more
