Awesome place! Grab a glass or 4 in a flight, get some cheese and meat and bread if you're into that and relax. Such a calming place. If you're buying a bottle, you can sample the wines as well. They do classes which I haven't attended but I love the idea of.

Handpicked Urban wineries is in the heart of Chippendale in the thriving precinct on Kensington Street. A cellar door on your doorstep, a large space with an industrial feel, complete with a wine store, wine vats, tables for you to enjoy the fruits of the urban wineries or enjoy a tasting at the bar. The winemakers 'handpick' fine wine from famous wine regions around the world and craft it in the style of the region it represents. This will let you travel the world one wine at a time without leaving Sydney. Wines are from Australia; New South Wales, SA, Vic, WA, Tas as well as Italy, Chile and France. Wines can be purchased by the glass at $10, $15 or $18. There are small batch selections on tap for $8 a glass. Otherwise go for a tasting at the bar, ranging from $10-$20 for six wine tastings. You can also have a 30min tutored tasting. We also tried the prose Summer Cocktail Special for $14, where you can make your own Prose Cocktail with prosecco and sorbet, guided by the staff and DIY garnish with fairy floss. Charcuterie boards are pretty reasonable, curated by the Formaggi Ocelli Cheese Specialist. Make your own selection of soft cheeses; from Camembert, Brie or Goat milk to washed rind cheeses, hard and semi hard cheeses or Blue. We opted for the Cacio di Bosco; a sheep milk cheese with shaved white truffle from Tuscany, Italy. We also had a blue cheese, complemented by crackers. You can also order salamis, Bresaola, prosciutto or serrano. If you enjoy wine and cheese, this place is a must. The knowledgeable ble staff willing to assist if required and do a generous pour. It does need more space to sit or a booking system for the tasting service
I came here for a glass of wine after having a catch up dinner with my friend and her wife at Kensington Street Social down the road. Well, I thought I was going to have a glass but I ended up getting a tasting flight because it was so tempting. They offer wine by the glass, bottle, flight or you can do a tasting at the bar. It was a brilliant experience. The staff were really nice - pleasant, knowledgeable on product offerings and really relaxed. I got the 'come to the dark side' flight, which was all reds. I asked her to pour me a little less because I was driving and it comes out around 2 glasses in total. I asked her to pour me half of each and pour a full one of 'the best one.' After a long deliberation (she told me) she poured the shiraz as the full glass. I had always thought I didn't like shiraz. Well I was wrong - now I do! I will always remember that this was the place that taught me. My friend ordered a different flight that had whites and reds, and also a cheese pairing for the flight - they match each cheese to a wine. I tried all of hers and all her cheeses. Really liked the majority even though bubbles and certain types of white aren't as much my jam. Really great place and good value for money. A nice, classy experience without being intimidating or pretentious. I'd love to come back here again - and next time I'd make sure I wasn't driving. IT'S ON!! read more
If you don't have time to go out to wine country this place makes up for it. They pick out great wines from multiple countries as well as many from all regions of Australia. They have generous pours and a large cheese selection to go with. It is a great space and if you are going to spice alley you could always pick up a bottle and take it with. They have lots of bottles under 25 aud to pick from. I went with a red wine flight and enjoyed most of them! read more

What a fun place! They've brought the fun of wine tasting at a vineyard into the city. You can choose from a $10,$15 or $20 tasting based on how exclusive of wines you want to taste- each of the tastings comes with 6 pours so it's a pretty good deal regardless of what tasting you choose. There were a few people in our group who didn't like red, so our host let us mix and match what wines each of us got for the tasting vs having to choose all of the same ones. The drawback to this place is if you're tasting, you can't eat food at the same time, which is pretty strange. We did a tasting and then wanted to have some cheese, and had to change tables in order to do so. Not sure if that's a licensing thing or not, but makes for a bit of awkwardness mid experience. It's right next to Spice Alley and tons of cute restaurants nearby so a great date spot or night out with friends can start here! read more

We went and did wine tasting with a beautiful cheese platter last night at Handpicked Wines in Chippendale: this place is wonderfully unique in Sydney and allows people to enjoy amazing vineyard quality wines in the city of Sydney without having to drive for hours to the nearest wine country / vineyard. We had a great time & I highly recommend doing a tasting. The wines were beautiful. We tried the prosecco which comes from a vineyard near Venice, Italy.... the Pinot Grigio which was light & refreshing (i bought a bottle) we also had the Shiraz (bought a bottle) Cab Sav & Tried 2 kinds of Pinot Noir. The amount of flavour packed into the reds will definetly have us going back again soon but this time with friends for a flight of wine and some more of that yummy goats cheese and fresh prosciutto. Being wine lovers, it's getting harder to impress us..... we are impressed! Can't wait to return :) read more

Nothing better than spending a rainy day wine tasting. The wines are amazing. Novel concept there are several vineyards that produce wine under one label. They are one of the pioneers in being one of the few wineries to have a tasting room in the city. For wine lovers this place is a must. read more
