Great food at a reasonable price. Very convenient if you're at Fenway. Will definitely go back again.

Che Empanada in Newton is the kind of spot that is easy to drive past without stopping, which would…read morebe a genuine mistake. We walked into a space that is more takeout oriented in scale, but warm and comfortable enough to sit and eat without feeling out of place. The menu runs over twenty varieties of empanada on a given day, and the range is wide enough that building a mixed order across a few different fillings was the natural and obvious way to go. The classic beef is a reliable anchor and the short rib version elevates that same foundation with a richer, more layered filling. We tried the chicken mushroom, one of the more distinctive options on the menu, and it was worth ordering for something that departs from the expected. The spicy chorizo paired well with the chimichurri sauce, which is worth asking for if it does not come automatically. The La Che is another strong option if you want to try the house specialty alongside a more classic pick. One thing worth knowing is that some varieties sell out earlier in the day, so arriving with a bit of flexibility in your order in case a specific filling is gone is a smart approach. The staff were friendly and helped guide us through the menu when we hesitated. The empanadas themselves came out hot and crisp, with fillings that felt generous and well seasoned. For an empanada stop in Newton that delivers on variety and quality, Che Empanada is worth seeking out. We would come back for the short rib and the spicy chorizo, and we would plan to arrive earlier to catch the full selection.

This new location provided more space than the previous location. It was clean and the staff were friendly. I called ahead to order as there usually is a wait while the food is prepared. Upon my arrival, I noticed this establishment had adopted the food warmers similar to the Dorchester location. I was pleased that calling ahead paid off and my empanada was made fresh. I love this place!

I've also tried the beef empanada, which was very good. They seem to have a whole lot more to offer, and I'm slowly making my way through the menu. My one wish is that the food and menu options were displayed a little better. A menu with pictures would be really helpful, especially since they offer so many different items. Sometimes you don't know what you're missing simply because you don't know what's available to order! The inside is always clean and spacious, with plenty of room to sit while waiting for your food or to stay and eat. Service has always been cordial as well. Parking is street parking, but I've always been able to find a spot when I visit. Overall, I've enjoyed what I've tried so far and will definitely keep going back to explore more of the menu!

There aren't many places around Boston where you can get yaroa, so when I found it on their menu, I…read morehad to give it a try. Yaroa is like Dominican Poutine, but instead of gravy it's covered in ketchup and mayo. Different places do different versions of yaroa, I'm partial to the mashed maduros/sweet plantains and fries combo, but this place does fries and large strips of maduros. The fries were not good and combined with the strips of maduro, they made the yaroa dry. It wasn't for me, but the portion was huge with generous amounts of pork. We also ordered the pork chimi which was really nice. And for the price, I was surprised the sandwich came with fries, it's a good deal despite the fries not being even mid fries. The quipes were kind of spicy, which I'm not used to but had a good amount of ground beef filling and were otherwise tasty. The food was fresh and really generous portions. They packed the food well and presentation was nice. They also included tons of mayo ketchup. I'm going to be generous with my review and round the 3.5 up to a 4. Better fries and a few tweaks would make this place incredible.

Definitely recommend it. The yaroa has bacon!! Yes it sounds a bit "weird" lol but hey bacon makes everything better, It did not disappoint. Like I said in the beginning this place never disappoints!

Ok so, I think this place needs more love. The negative reviews (currently) are pretty harsh in my…read moreopinion. I spent my teens and early twenties in south Florida, and you know what people in their teens and twenties eat? That's right, empanadas lol. They're cheap, hot, quick and good. Cuban empanadas are amazing, with a strong yet flaky dough with bubbles (not like a pastelito), that holds together the juices of the filling. THESE empanadas are similar with a big difference. The dough is the same amazing result and the best I've had outside south Florida. The difference is the filling. Which is not wet from vegetables and seasoning. I wouldn't say it's unseasoned at all, the beef (res) empanada I had was really tasty, with filling more akin to a nice couple of tacos than some juicier empanadas. This has a great bonus of being REALLY EASY TO EAT ON THE GO. Also, not having a juicy filling means the item stays together better. They have salsas for the empanada so you can sauce it up as you like ;) it's a pink sauce that tastes a bit like vinegar. The huevos jamón y queso (ham egg and cheese) also went over well, very cheesy eggs! Also, the owner (she seemed like the owner operator, working the big shallow frying pot in the back) was very nice and is bilingual if your Spanish is not so great like mine . Good service
