It was a good thing this breakfast cafe was right next door to the hotel Jamie W. and I were basing ourselves in Barcelona. We had stayed at the Constanza several years earlier and remembered that the breakfast was not too exciting, so we didn't go for that option this time. This restaurant proved to be a satisfying option for us given the breadth of choices in their menu.
It was kinda like the International House of Eggs. We each started with the fresh 4,8€ Orange Juice and the rich 2,9€ Cappuccino (photo: https://yelp.to/OXrvqTJf2b). We weren't surprised with the latter since they have a full blown coffee bar at the front. For his main, Jamie went for the 15,5€ Mexican Rancheros, a fried egg laid atop a casserole of roast chicken, beans, thyme sauce, and melted cheese.
It was complemented by grilled avocado, Creole cream, pico de gallo, and cilantro with grilled naan bread on the side (photo: https://yelp.to/vX4s1YH_6u). It was a pretty rich creation but the ingredients worked well together. I went a different direction geographically with the 14,9€ Korean Chicken Eggs Benedict, which was quite a potpourri of unexpected ingredients.
Two poached eggs were piled on top of Korean-style crunchy chicken and shredded green papaya and carrot, all of atop a split brioche bun. Hollandaise sauce was ladled liberally with peanuts and mint sprinkled on top (photo: https://yelp.to/sIwjp1XWbi). It was good and came with a big side of French Fries (photo: https://yelp.to/HccBFzybeh). But alas, cross-border choices are a plus for breakfast, and we took advantage.
