Rode 3 hrs just to visit the location because it looked like a great place to stop with some good reviews. 3 of us was gonna do breakfast challenge, was told they had met their limit on food and could not do anymore challenges. 1 offered just to pay to have the food and not do the challenge, was still denied. However 2 of us ordered what would have been on the challenge anyway, just wasnt named the challenge. Menu doesnt mention any limits on challenges, I would have paid for the challenge as would the others, was just doing for the group challenge, not the free food if you complete it. We then Attempted to order different items and several items we were told was sold out and it was lunch time. Salad bar was warm, and our waitress seems inconvienced that we were there to have lunch. Hunger found us while in Monroe County after taking a backroad trip through the "Amish" area. I had bookmarked this place in the past after buying a truck in Tompkinsville but at that time it was further than we wanted to travel for lunch. So with more time to kill and a tank full of gas, we went. At first glance we noticed the outside is set up like a Cracker Barrel with a nice porch and rocking chairs. There is ample parking in front and more in in the back. When you first walk in to the right is the check out next to a glass case of desserts. Today there was cheesecake, red velvet cake, brownies and Rice Krispie treats to name a few. The a freezer case next to that of ice cream for dipped cones. They have a large cold buffet with salad items and a large hot buffet. We arrived at breakfast time so there was breakfast items on the hot bar. The waitress told us on Friday nights the bar has seafood. The dining room is quite large, country decor, table and chairs with a second large area for dining through glass double doors. Televisions for viewing the sports as well. Bathroom area is tucked in a hall and are very clean and updated as well with a Dyson hand blower. Dear Daughter had salad bar and the 30 piece grilled shrimp that she shared and was really tasty. Dear Hubby had the Cowboy Burger with tots and said it was the Best Burger he's ever had. Now that statement coming from him is big because he had eat the best speciality burgers. I had the ribs and they did not disappoint. Very moist, tender and full of flavor. Dear Daughter and I also got the loaded baked potatoes that were good also. The rolls mimic the ones from Texas Roadhouse only a wee smaller that were served with honey butter. We were so stuffed we did not have room for dessert and I took a box of food home. But when we checked out we did buy 3 of the extra extra large Rice Krispie treats that were iced in chocolate and m&m's. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, good atmosphere, and good food. Prices have gone up and portions shrunk. Two of us ordered burgers, curly fries, sweet tea and dessert. There was only one actual curly fry on my plate and the rest were bits. Tiny portion of fries for $2.50. They used to give you a lot of food but now it's mini buns and burgers and a few fries. We spent almost $40.00 for that lunch for two and it wasn't gourmet. The journey to this restaurant is a worthwhile driving experience due to the beautiful rural countryside but expect an average to slightly above average quality of meat and three buffet food. The restaurant building is a log cabin and very clean (as were the bathrooms) and well decorated. However, the prior reviews with 4-5 stars imply a place that seems much higher quality than this restaurant realistically offers. For example, on Saturday night they advertise a steak night buffet with ribeyes. In reality, the buffet steaks were sliced very thin, had been cooked for some time (even at 5 PM when we arrived) and more resembled high quality flank steaks rather than ribeyes. If you like vegetables cooked country style you'll enjoy the well prepared green beans with ham and the casserole styled cheese potatoes. The fried catfish was too salty and small but the larger hush puppies were moist and soft with a crispy exterior (e.g., small ones were dense and over fried). The fried onion rings had virtually no onions in them. The barbecue is akin to a rib-let basket at Applebee's and not typical of local pit barbecue nearby. The desserts looked large with a gourmet flair (fancy fried pies, white cake, cheesecake and mike high "reeces pieces" and coconut meringue pie). Although we didn't eat the desserts on display, they appeared to meet the hype. If you don't live in the immediate area, I recommend trying it once just for the experience. I wish I had ordered the grilled fish, grilled shrimp or grilled pork chop from the menu. Perhaps it would have been much better prepared than the buffet. I'd try it at least once for yourself and post a review for others. It's worth the day trip if you take in regional sites too. read more

Awesome! Very clean, family ran. Cafeteria style threw me off at first but it's very very good food, affordable. My family and I were even greeted by the owner so this was a great experience for our first visit. We will def make this a regular dining location! read more
