Secondly, when I read the reviews, I always start with the not stellar ones and work my way up. Of 6 reviews, only one had a "1-star". Seems that the poster wasn't satisfied with the greens nor Mac-n-cheese. Interestingly enough, they said the service was great. Anyone who's read my posts knows that I'll eat a batter dipped flip-flop if it was served right! LOL Soooo .... The directions to the place were excellent. But if you weren't paying attention, you'd not notice that it was right on the corner of the liquor store. The place was cozy, very clean, with indoor and outside seating. That was nice because it was hot as a fire ant's tuchus in Cincinnati today. We sat inside and it was pretty cool (even without a/c). As the one-star reviewer posted, the customer service was GREAT. I asked about the fish and chips (I'm weirdly particular about my fish), and was very pleased with the response. They said I didn't have to get chips but can choose any two sides. I had greens and yams. Pimp had the grilled chicken salad. We waited a good bit (about 15 minutes). But as we waited, we got to watch them prepare our orders as well as the many others that were constantly coming in. This is a neighborhood hot spot, indeed. Everything coming out of that kitchen was looking like fire!!! (We made notes of things to try next time, like the Salmon Croquettes). The food came out and the first thing she did was show Pimp the fish to see if it looked to our satisfaction. (Again, GREAT service). The food was hot. Pimp says the salad greens were crisp and fresh and his grilled chicken was flavorful (they even asked him if he wanted bacon; of course he did). Now I gotta talk about these greens. No disrespect nor disparagement to the reviewer who said the greens tasted like they were from a can. I am a connoisseur of greens. I grew up in a house where canned greens were better than no greens at all. I know canned greens. The greens I got today were cooked from fresh (the texture is the tell-tale). The seasoning was spot on. No stems. Tender, yet with enough bite to let you know they were fresh (no matter how you doctor them, canned greens have a slickness to them that can't be masked.) That's not to say they don't or haven't served canned greens before (I know that in a pinch, I will get a can of "Glory" myself when I run short on a holiday). So my opinion is that the greens were fresh or someone has one helluva gift for hooking up canned greens! We're here for three days for a bowling tournament. Having seen that they do DoorDash, definitely gonna hit them again before we head back to D-town. BTW .... them yams. OMG. I could eat the greens, yams, and cornbread as a whole meal. I think that's what I'll have when we hit the road.

The cod was an off color best described as gray and was irregularly shaped ( looked more like perch). The fish was more breading and a bit greasy, definitely a fishy taste. The zucchini sticks were breading and mush ) very watery. The chicken was moist however the breading sloughed off when cutting and it had an off taste. The only things edible without comment were the fries and coleslaw. My wife and I both only consumed small bites of the food and decided it was not worth risking... should have followed our instincts and went elsewhere immediately. The menu is too extensive to be able to provide quality entrees. We stopped on the way home and picked up a pizza for lunch. Very disappointed, Mike's will not be on our list in the future.
