This is the closest pub to me so of course I have been here a few times. I usually go to a place for food and not just drink so I have eaten here a lot as well. The food and pricing are good so don't get me wrong. They have dinner specials each night which are 2 courses for 10 poundsnice. I have enjoyed all of my meals although a guest of mine once recieved a pie so over cooked on the outside, you had to take a pinata stick to it and smash it in for all the goodies which ended up being cold anyway. My issue with food here is you will wait and wait. and check on your food order with the bartender/waitress, be told it is on its way, then you wait for another 20 minutes. This is infuriating if you want your food and not be nervous all evening that your order has been forgotten. The last time I went with my husband, we ordered our food before the crowd came in to watch a game on the big screens. We ordered early and the crowd started to wander in about 20 minutes after that. Then the game started and at 15 minutes in we asked about our meal. It didn't come until near the 45 half time of the game. We then waited until the end of the game for dessert. We asked twice about this course and were assured just a couple more minutes we should have left but decided to wait because of the novelty. So walk in to the restaurant at 7pm and leave at 9:20pm. This was only the worst incident but it has been like this everytime I have been in, with or without games, and at lunchtime or dinner. Expect to wait and give 1.5 hours dedicated to your meal. As far as going for drinks or to watch a game, they have some nice big lcd screens and one large projector in the back room. That is how they got their 2 stars from me. This is the only reason why it is often packed as well. My advice to them is, get another chef to help your current one out, organize your bartender/waitstaff who are overwhelmed and therefore useless, and lay off the tarragon in the food. You could have a good product so let your patrons see that.

With this many cask ale, cider and draught beer options, it's a perfect neighborhood pub. Quality food, too.

It's at the bottom of a Holiday Inn, or at least, it appeared to be that way, and was a strange mish-mash of a pub. I think it was trying to feel like it was really old, yet it had the strangest collection of furniture and decor. We had a blast making fun of this tavern. Tables were laid out in sort of a weird fashion and at first we were really close to this group of 20 somethings that were fairly drunk and really obnoxious and a woman who was sitting by herself at a table for 6 who was reading a book while her food sat off to the side. The drunk group left and it got nice and quiet and so did the woman who had a better table than we did so we took her table. Nothing we drank was anything we'd ever come back for. There are way too many good pubs in London. Unless everything else is closed and this is the only option, go elsewhere!

Plenty of seating options and if you want to make it a working lunch, there's outlets nearby to grab some juice while you get some...juice. GF'ers, try the Old Mout Cider - very refreshing. The food looked (and smelled) good but it was only liquid libations for us. Great staff, everyone was friendly. Not sure what the thing about hotel guests only is, I'm sure there were other people here and they weren't checking for room keys.

Confirmed with our hotel concierge, we set foot for The Anglesea Arms. When we got there, there were about 100 lads and lasses outside enjoying pints and conversation. Thought we would have to settle elsewhere for our grub. We decided to inquire inside and found the restaurant side to be relatively empty, this was about 7pm. Josh was our wonderful waiter. We all enjoyed our fish ( golden fried haddock) and chips, along with a few pints of local lager. Wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend this pub. As a note, when we exited, we discovered even more lads and lasses had congregated outside. If your young and enjoy a few pints, this was a hot spot, at least on a Friday evening.

We came by to just take pictures to send to them but decided to pop in for drinks and lunch. It was 12:30 and we were hungry from walking around all morning. We sat outside on the patio out front. It had a reserved sign on the table but the hostess said we can have the table. It was a hot day with maybe the 3rd or 4th heat wave of the summer! We wanted to sit outside but in the shade. The table they gave us was perfect! The pints and cocktails were a perfect start. We ordered: Crab malfade £20 Chicken and Parm Ham Schnitzel £20.50 Fish & Chips £22.50 Only the crab malfade was good. The rest of the meals were not great but we were hungry so we ate them. Still giving them a 4 stars for great ambiance and service. Definitely more of a drinks spot.
