Sun of a Beach - Beef tataki (really more just steak, but still tasty)

I'd give it somewhere between 3 and 4 stars, it has pros and cons but overall a great choice within the options Sylvan Lake offers. Pros: - great location - MASSIVELY HUGE rooftop patio, would seat enormous numbers of people - super fun cocktails; I had one with cotton candy in it! Delicious cocktail and fun snack too! - the shrimp tacos were tasty and the shrimp was cooked perfectly, which can be challenging Cons: - the rest of the food we tried was pretty average. Not bad, but not amazing either. The "steak tartare" was just steak. The spring rolls were take-out-Chinese-food quality, again not bad, just nothing extra. And they also brought us the veggie spring rolls by mistake, not the pork ones we ordered, and made no apology when this was pointed out. - for some reason they seem very keen on constantly playing Latin American music, despite the fact that neither their menu nor their staff appear to be particularly Latin American - prices are tourist level ... but that's probably true for everywhere in this town I had fun with my ridiculous cocktail and would return another time for some of the other cocktails, but keep my expectations of the food to not be too too high.

We got pop as our drink and I'm glad we asked but it is NOT non-stop (no free refills). Waitress was nice but very busy. Flavors and their ratings: Honey Garlic: 10/10 my personal favorite. Very well sauced. Dill pickle: 8/10 Flavoring was just a light dusting and did not stick really well to the wings. Nice flavor just wish there was more of it. Lemon pepper: 9/10 Flavoring stuck better to these wings. This was Friend 1s favorite as it had a nice zing to it. Bangin Bacon: 10/10 Friend 2s favorite, i also really enjoyed this one. Nice and creamy and flavor. Not a strong flavor. Moroccan: 3/10 everyone least favorite. Very bland. Tastes like paprika only. Overall the wings had a good amount of meat on them, were hot and fresh and I would come back!

Despite bustling with business on…read moreWednesdays, the turnaround is quite quick, so you can be seated pretty quickly. Our past two visits around 5:30pm required no waiting; the longest we've ever had to wait was 30 minutes.  Parking can be quite tough though, as Bo's is located in a small strip mall with a limited-space parking lot that is shared with the other businesses. You can usually find more parking behind the building near the Corner Pocket.  Admittedly, aside from their wings, I haven't had the chance to try any of their regular menu items so can't comment on those. But we've visited a handful of times on wing Wednesdays and are always pleased with the fast-paced service and flavours of their wings. My favourite picks are the Bangin' Bacon, Dill Pickle, Thai Chili, and of course, the classic Honey Garlic. I have found that on some busy nights, they've skimped out on the flavourings that we've had to scrape them from the bottom of the basket, but I'm sure the servers would be happy to bring you extra flavourings if you ask. Our most recent visit was a nice surprise as they were still decked out with their seasonal decorations; so fun! They also host a lot of local shows/concerts, so make sure to check out their website to stay updated!

The waitress was very kind and started us with warm and toasty ciabatta bread with cheesy Herby butter (very good) We order a Prime-rib Yorkshire pudding for starters. I ordered French onion soup and risotto for my entree, my husband ordered cheeseburger with Cesar salad. The bread on the Yorkshire pudding was burnt I didn't eat it. My onion soup full of onions but seemed to be lacking something. I ate it but not joyfully. Then out came our entres my risotto and husband cheeseburger presentation was nice; only to be disappointed my risotto lacked the creaminess and smooth texture, the cheeseburger was soggy. :/

It was busy and our reservation was at 5 pm to enjoy one persons night out for their birthday, valentines day and enjoy life celebration. All six of us ordered steak. 4 out of the 6 steaks were rare "Red rare" and One of these steaks was supposed to be well done. The other steaks were to be med/well. Nope !! one steak out of 5 at a steak house done correctly is simply BS!! The one steak was sent back and probably the other 4 should have been sent back but we all hungry and just ate partial portions of an expensive steak. One of the more mature ladies that was dressed to her best with an expensive pair of pants realized after sitting down for a few minutes that she was stuck to her chair. My god there was green gum, fairly fresh on the front of that chair. So now a dry cleaning bill on her lovely linen pants! Just No, simply no. We will not go back! Not even an apology from the chef in regards to all poorly cooked steaks! Yes we did mention this to the young waiter with no resolve.

First off, props that they were able to allow us a reservation for 60 people. That's no small feat in Sylvan. Hubs and I came early after a stroll in the icy cold and decided to warm up with a bowl of the chef's housemate chowder soup - and it was delicious! A perfect warm up from the cold. Hubs had a local Snake Lake beer and I had water. For mains we ordered the Inferno Burger (which was so wet that it was fall apart and not something I could really eat) and Rocket Salad with Chicken. I didn't try the burger as mentioned above and Hubs did eat it but said that he would not recommend it. He said it was hard to put his finger on but it definitely did not match it's name and was quite wet with a lot of some sort of burger sauce. The Rocket Salad with Chicken was exactly as described and a nice break from the usual pub fare. Our kiddo had wings and onion rings - they were gobbled up quickly. Overall, I'm giving a 4 star = Good and I would return but not enthusiastically. I think I'd prefer this place as a bar (which it is) but later in the evening when kids aren't allowed for a drink and a round of pool. The food was okay but pricey (as most stuff in Sylvan is). I bet this place is hopping in the summer as it has prime real estate right on the main drag against the lake.
