Ahh! Monday lunch special was soooo good! This was chicken tenders, squash casserole, potato salad, fried okra, fried green tomato, peach cobbler and a roll.

Opened in the tumultuous 2020. If our visit is any indication this place is going to be very very successful for years to come. Staci took really good care of us! I ordered the meatloaf sandwich with onion rings. The wife ordered their spinach salad. We were both delighted with how scrumptious these choices were. For dessert we shared the peach pie which was served hot with a side of vanilla ice cream, coffee and hot tea. Five star rating is easy.

Truth be told, this is probably a 3.5 star, but I'm going to round up to four stars taking into consideration that they haven't been here very long and they are doing a good job of getting a restaurant up and running during Covid times. Lots of seating and even though there was only one parking space in front, there were still a few seats left to be had. Our server was really good and took good care of us and gave us some good info on menu items. I had the Smoked Cuban Burger which came with Smoked Ham, Smoked BBQ Pork, Cheese, Klausen Pickles, and Mustard. Mine was really good, flavor of everything was spot on and everything was fresh and warm. I'd give this a really solid 4 out 5 My wife had the Pimento-Cheese Burger that came with Mayo, Tomato, Lettuce, Pepper Jelly, and Home Made Pimento Cheese. Hers wasn't as good. The food was all fresh, but the bun itself was a soggy mess and fell apart. All the internal ingredients had to be eaten with a fork. We also had the Big Chief Sampler - Pick three items from their starters menu. We went with the Egg Rolls (4 out of 5), Buffalo Chicken Dip ((3 out of 5) and Fried Green Tomatoes (4 out of 5). Overall a good experience and we will return.

Came in yesterday with a party of three. I ordered the Downtown burger with the side salad. The burger was pretty good, the patty was thick, and the salad tasted fresh. I do think the management should hire more help, since it started getting busy around 3 and there were only two waitresses holding up the fort. Luckily we didn't have a super long wait. Hopefully this business continues to do well; I'm sure opening in 2020 wasn't easy!

Absolutely the BEST burger that I have ever eaten!!! Also have to mention that the fries are just the way I like them. We got take-out from the Downtown Chief this past weekend and it was wonderful! Besides burgers, we had the Santa Fe egg rolls and they were delicious. We WILL be eating at the Downtown Chief again and soon!

We did not know there was a pub crawl for St Patty's day happening on the day of our reservation. We were the first to be seated in the restaurant since it opened at 5:00. Once we sat down we found out there was a limited dinner menu. The waitress took our drink order right away, but it took 20 minutes for the drinks to be delivered. While waiting for the drinks the waitress took our food order, took our food a good 40 minutes to be served after we ordered. The waitress told us our food was delayed because one item was burned in the oven and had to be remade. When we finally got our order one of the entrees was cold and the other was luke warm. We had ordered both entrees medium, but they were also over cooked. I understand they were busy with the pub crawl, but that should not have impacted their service as much as we experienced. What really disappointed me that the restaurant did not make us aware of the limited dinner menu and that they also were hosting a pub crawl when we made reservations. We could have made a decision to cancel the reservation before we traveled to the restaurant I hope the owners of this restaurant will plan better in the future and make their patrons aware of special circumstances affecting the menu. All I know is that I will not be returning.

Neither of us had eaten here before, but both had been wanting to try this place out. First and foremost, don't come out in your Sunday's finest, this place is the true definition of Dive Bar. Come as casual as you want and you'll feel comfortable. Only one other person in the place we were able to grab any seat we wanted. The bartender was quick to our table to get drink orders and give us menus. I went for one of the four Grenades they offered - no not a drink it's one of their signature dishes. Think Nachos but with French fries instead of chips. They had a steak offering as well as ground beef, chicken and pork. I went for the Fresh Prince which came piled with steak, grilled onions and bell peppers and queso (added some pico on the side). Really good dish. Flavor of the steak was that of a classic philly cheese steak. Generous portion for the price. Hard to go wrong here, really the hardest decision is which of the four to order. My fiance had the Porky - which simply put was a loaded burger, but it was oh so much more. Topped with slaw and smoked pork, smothered in bourbon BBQ add some cheddar, lettuce, tomato and fried onion straws and you're in burger heaven. Again, the portion was more then generous and full of flavor. Prices are right on point. Service was good and even though they got busier the longer we stayed, we continued to get checked on through the meal. While you wait for your food, the pool was free (not sure if it's that way all the time - but Saturday afternoon it is). We wouldn't hesitate to come back and try this place out and some of the other menu items. Really great food. Great Staff. Great Prices.

The British-themed atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and genuinely makes you want to linger longer. We arrived on a Saturday just after 11 AM and the place was already bustling...a great sign of how much the community enjoys this spot. **Food:** - I had the Traditional Burger, no bun, and they easily accommodated my request for a lettuce wrap. The burger was beautifully cooked--crispy on the edges and juicy inside, with the extra pickles I asked for. - The House Potato Salad is hands-down my favorite side here: perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. - My friend got the Fish & Chips and raved about the crispy, perfectly-cooked fish and the addictively good house-made tartar sauce with lots of dill (pickle lovers take note!). - She enjoyed her fries and iced tea, while I loved my hot tea. They serve Twinings teas, which are my favorite. My only wish was for a classic teacup and saucer (rather than a Styrofoam cup) to complete the authentic British feel. **Service and Experience:** - Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, from accommodating special orders to promptly bringing refills on drinks and providing extra sauces with a smile. - We placed our order at the counter and our food arrived at our table piping hot and fresh, never left sitting in a window. - Although the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed and were encouraged to sit and chat as long as we liked, which felt very authentically British. **Menu Variety:** - Union Jack has something for everyone: a wide range of burgers (like Black & Blue with blue cheese, Mushroom Swiss, Breakfast, and more), as well as sandwiches such as club and chicken, lots of fresh salads, breakfast items, baked muffins and scones, plus daily specials. - They offer both indoor and shaded outdoor seating--a lovely bonus on pleasant days. **Atmosphere:** - The location in Rainbow Plaza offers plenty of parking and the eatery is spotlessly clean inside. The warm, small-town vibe and British decor make this a cozy place to catch up with a friend or enjoy a leisurely meal. **Insider Tips:** - Try the potato salad and the fish & chips--they're local favorites for good reason. - Don't be shy about customizing your order; the staff handles special requests graciously. - If you go on a nice day, consider the shady outdoor tables for a true cafe experience. Union Jack Cafe is a true neighborhood gem with consistently delicious food, generous hospitality, and a community-focused spirit that's worth supporting. Highly recommended for anyone in Rainbow City or passing through. I'll absolutely be returning often, and encouraging everyone I know to do the same!

Tables were sticky and it took an hour and a half to get food; food wasn't great. We just weren't impressed and haven't been back since. Tonight we had friends that wanted to go so we thought we'd give it another shot. I got the smash burger and it was ok. Sweet potato fries were overcooked. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. She was kind and was very prompt with everything. Had a little issue with my drink though. I ordered a Moscow Mule (What they call a stubborn mule here). When I got it, it was in a lowball, (I don't care about the copper mug) I noticed it had a different color from any mules I've had. I tried it and it wasn't a typical mule. I kept telling my wife it tasted like apples. I never send stuff back but I did tell the waitress I'd take a beer. She asked if my drink was ok and I said it's not a mule. No biggie, just didn't taste good. No problem. She took the drink and returned with the beer. Later on she came up to the table and said her boss wouldn't let her take the mule off because all drink sales are final. I didn't ask for a free drink, this was prompted by her trying to make it right. Whatever... 9 bucks. Not worth the fuss. Later on one of my friends was reading the dessert drink menu and saw a Caramel Apple Mule advertised. Nancy Drew solved the mystery; I most definitely got served the Apple Mule. Still... 9 bucks gone. Not the end of the world, but this is the first place I've been to that wouldn't remake a drink. Sure it was a mistake, but I'm kinda surprised by the bosses decision. Maybe the third time will be a charm! ;)
