Came here over the weekend to paint with the girls and realized I haven't done anything like this…read morein years. It was honestly so fun to get a little crafty and just sit around catching up. Such a good spot whether you come solo, on a date, or with a group of friends. Super relaxing and a great experience overall. Can't wait to see how our pieces turn out when they're ready

Vibe: The studio is a cozy, creative space accessible to adults, kids, teens, or anyone looking for a break. The studio has plenty of seats for groups of two or more. They also offer a small refrigerator with water and Poppi for purchase. Selections: Each table is stocked with painting supplies, including a variety of brushes, paints, sponges, and water, while a large table provides additional supplies. The pottery is displayed prominently, ranging in size and style from mugs, bowls, coasters, figurines, to ornaments, with around 400 pieces to choose from, so there's something for everyone! I visited during the fall, so they had a great selection of fall and Halloween-themed figurines and ornaments. Service: First, the Brushfire team is incredibly polite and helpful, guiding first-timers through the process. While we're painting, they handle the glazing and firing of the pottery. The turnaround for finished pieces is about a week, but the studio holds onto them for up to a month in case you can't pick them up right away. Value: The basic studio fee is very reasonable; the cost mainly depends on which piece you choose to paint. Prices range from $5 to $80. I chose a figurine priced around $15, and I felt it was quite fair. Note: Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends, since this place attracts a lot of couples and families. If someone is very particular about fine art, this studio might feel more like a hobby-level venue rather than a professional gallery, which I think is perfect for someone like me, who doesn't have fine art training. I loved my experience here, it's a fantastic place to create a handmade gift or a personalized piece for yourself. The studio offers tons of options, making it fun to craft something unique!

I went to the pottery place with my kids and my two good friends and their kids. It was a Sunday,…read morethere were 10 of us, and the pottery place was very busy. They don't accept reservations, but their website claims they can seat 70, so we figured they could handle us. We even stated that we would prefer to be broken up into two tables, as this seemed more manageable for everyone. The manager said OK , and that we would be put on the waitlist. We waited patiently, browsing the selection and chatting amongst ourselves, trying to stay out of the way. When it was our turn to be seated, we were ushered to an eight person table. I addressed my concerns that there wouldn't be enough room for all 10 of us, and reiterated we were told we'd have two tables. They refused to honor that agreement. The extra seats that were pulled up for us did not fit the height of the table and I wasn't able to fit my legs underneath. I decided since I did not have proper accommodations, I would not purchase a piece to paint. I was really looking forward to painting something to give as a birthday present, and had planned on spending a good amount of money!! (I paid over $60 for my children to paint a mug and a 3 inch gnome.) We noticed that two tables remained available on either side of us for a while. We politely asked if we could use one of them and we were told no they were reserved. Nobody ever sat at one of them, and at no point for the remainder of our time there were there any less than two available tables in the room, just sitting there empty. I was upset by this experience. I was not friendly when settling up and paying at the end because I believed I was being treated poorly. I don't have to make eye contact and smile, and certainly couldn't find it in me to do so. I wrote a Yelp and a Google review when I got home. The following day I received a phone call from that same manager. She got my phone number off of my pick up information that I provided at the shop and called me at home, unsolicited. She gaslit me, made false accusations, and was defensive and argumentative. I certainly didn't write a review as an invitation for her to call and harass me. I wrote a review to alert other potential customers about a problem that was unresolved by the management of this business. They had the ability to accommodate us and went out of their way not to. We expressed that we were not satisfied, and they refused to make any effort. When I expressed my experience in my reviews, they contacted me to argue about it. Though I wish I had never been to the pottery place, I know there are plenty of other places I enjoy going, where I am treated well.

Ally walked us through the pottery and painting techniques and it was just a few minutes waiting on a table. Fun for Everyone! We…read morearrived after lunch and the parking garages were full. We found a church that was allowing people to park for $7 a vehicle. They were raising money for travel expenses to send kids and chaperones to places for charity work. This festival seems to get bigger every year. There were many more arts and crafts booths than the last time I attended. These included pottery, paintings, art, accessories, clothing, and much more. Plenty of fun things for kids. There were inflatable obstacle courses, a climbing wall, and an inflatable slide for kids of all ages. There was also a carnival with rides for everyone. Gourmet food trucks and food stands were present to satisfy your hunger. You could find gyros, asian cuisine, mexican cuisine, and american favorites such as hot dogs, kettle corn and glazed nuts. The best booth at the festival was of course the "Yelp" booth. They had a spinning wheel that you could spin for cool prizes.

Local residents showed up in droves and genuinely valued -- and purchased -- handmade work. I made five to $7000 twenty years ago. Unfortunately, the show has changed significantly. It now draws large crowds, many of whom appear to be bused in from outside the area. While attendance is high, sales are not. The loyal local audience seems to have been pushed out by the increased congestion, and many no longer attend. Equally disappointing is the noticeable decline in handmade goods. Walking the show this year, I spoke with several talented artists who shared that they struggled to cover even their basic expenses and do not plan to return. It's a real shame that the show has declined like it has. It used to be a beautiful show and Franklin is a nice town.
