My best friend told me they were doing a fundraiser for a local charity this day, so it was just the excuse I needed. Glad we didn't dawdle too much, because they were almost out of biscuits and gravy by the time we got there. My son and I both ordered it (and he helped me finish mine off). DELICIOUS!!! So good! I got the PB honey latte, a great leap from my usual, but it sounded interesting. It was so good I wondered if I could take a vat home to sip til the end of time! They really do fun flavors extraordinarily well, and the place is very calming and relaxing inside. They keep it cool, which makes lingering a delight. I haven't tried the other wonderful things like the pastries and wraps but the coffees are top notch and if you are in the area, make this your next stop! Really easy to find, extremely nice staff, and ample parking, too! I'm very curious to see what concoctions they come up with next! This coffee shop makes High Ridge proud!

The egg bites were cold and had a weird texture. The flavor was off too. The other bakery item we got was supposed to be one flavor of a turnover and it ended up being a cherry turnover. Which would have been fine had it also not been cold, dry and flavorless. I would definitely recommend putting them on different trays to tell them apart. On to the coffee... I got a White chocolate macadamia which was tolerable because it just tasted like white mocha with a hint of nutty. Nothing special. I chose a French Madeline for my husbands drink because the way the ladies described it was something he would have liked. However, it was terrible. The flavor was not there at all. We couldn't even finish. The place looks very nice and clean. It has a welcoming feel that makes you want to sit and stay. The girls working were nice. I guess try this place out for yourself... maybe we hacen on a bad day?

The prices are very reasonable. When we asked about specialty coffee drinks, our server showed us an electronic tablet-- we had to pass it around to read our options. They were all very sweet concoctions named for desserts, and the ones my companions chose were indeed so pumped with syrup and flavors and sprinkles that the taste of coffee was nowhere to be found. Our food was just fine. The waffle was sweet and fluffy. The Berry Salad was exactly as described: iceberg, lettuce, berries, pecans. The berries were fresh; the chicken was heavily seasoned (mostly salty and saturated) and the poppyseed dressing was very sweet. The quiche had plenty of spinach in it but was rather rubbery (I know quiche can be tricky-- it has a really long cooking time so it can't be made to order, and rewarming does it no favors) and the potato soup was okay. Both the salad and the quiche/soup combo had a croissant on the side; they seemed similar to the ones purchased by the dozen at Costco. Mine seemed dry on the outside with a faint moldy taste in the bottom. The patio was very pleasant, and inside looked cozy. The staff did a great job of making everyone feel welcome and keeping our glasses refilled and such. There's a big parking lot adjacent, though many of the spots say they're reserved for a different business. I saw that high chairs are available. Gendered restrooms are inside. The place accepts cash and credit cards.

This cute town of Kimmswick was bustling on the Sunday when I went and luckily I went when I did as I was passing through the St Louis area, since The Blue Owl is closed on Mondays. I managed to get inside and buy a slice of their very famous Levee High Apple Pie. This pie is legendary with it's sheer size and massive amounts of praise heaped upon it. They have two crust varieties with the traditional sugar sprinkled one and a caramel pecan one. i chose the traditional pie. The large piece you get can be shared my 2 people easily and as I ate it in my car outside, I wish it had been warmed up a bit. The pie is decent with great flavor and crust but not spectacular. I come from Washington State where the apple is our main fruit grown and prized around the world. We make lots of apple products as a result so I've tried my fair share. My mom has made better apple pie at home in my youth. Maybe this pie has gone a bit downhill since it is now so famous and they need to mass produce it? I did enjoy it and recommend others to try it and provide their own opinions. Visiting Kimmswick can be a fun side trip when in the greater St Louis area as the small town has lots of charm with cute shops and even an apple butter festival.

It had been years since we had visited, and we were excited to spend the day walking around the little town and enjoying a meal at one of the places it's known for. We arrived around 11 a.m., and it was the perfect timing. There was plenty of parking, and we were able to walk right in and get seated. After lunch, we spent about an hour shopping around town, and when we came back through, the parking lot was packed and the sidewalks were much busier. I would definitely recommend arriving earlier if you want a more relaxed experience. Even though it was August, the weather was surprisingly beautiful, with temperatures in the low 70s, so we decided to sit out on the veranda. It was such a great choice. The view was peaceful, there was a nice breeze, and it felt like we were enjoying lunch somewhere special rather than just sitting inside a busy restaurant. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Our waitress was wonderful--very attentive and friendly. We must have been on the same wavelength because every time I asked for her opinion between two choices, she picked the exact one I was already leaning toward without me telling her. Her recommendations were spot on! We both ordered the trio, which allows you to choose three items from a selected menu. We each started with the white chili, and it was perfect for the cooler summer day. It was warm, comforting, and full of flavor. For my main dish, I chose the turkey melt on a croissant. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and absolutely delicious. I'm trying to cut back on carbs, but that plan went out the window because it was just too good. I did save half of the sandwich for the ride home, but there was no way I was leaving that croissant behind! My bestie ordered the chicken salad croissant, and she loved it as well. She said the chicken salad was flavorful, moist, and delicious, and the croissant made it even better. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying dessert. The Blue Owl is famous for their Levee High Apple Pie, but neither of us were really craving apple pie that day. Instead, we went inside to look at the dessert display, and that might have been the hardest decision of the whole visit. Everything looked amazing! I was torn between the chocolate cream pie and the French silk, and ultimately chose the French silk. It was very smooth and rich, and the flavor was delicious. My only complaint was that I personally would have preferred more whipped cream on top, and the crust was a little firmer than I like. It wasn't bad at all--it just wasn't my favorite dessert choice. If I went back, I would probably try something different next time. My bestie chose the gooey butter cheesecake, and that one was a winner. The crust was made from a gooey butter cookie, and it was such a unique and delicious twist. Overall, we had such a great day in Kimmswick. It was the perfect little escape before summer ends and school starts back up. A beautiful walk through a charming town, great conversation with a best friend, and a delicious meal made for a wonderful day. We're already looking forward to coming back!
