Full crew of baristas got my order from the app and took a while to prepare my coffee. I guess they didn't have the drip coffee ready that early? Store was tidy and stocked but the first table I chose needed wiping down and the floor nearby was sticky. Second table was better. I stayed for about two hours and by that time, there was some daylight and I feel safer driving through rural Missouri. [Review 624 of 2024 - 319 in Missouri - 21655 overall]

My husband and I came up for Garlic Fest and walked around town. We found this not-so-hidden gem…read moreand had to go in because of the biscuits and gravy signage outside. This is my husband's favorite breakfast. The biscuits and sausage gravy were amazing, in my husband's expert opinion. ( having consumed this dish almost everywhere) I had 'just avocado toast' (their no egg version) and it was very good. I suspect the bread was freshly baked and not from a commercial bakery. Now let's talk about the important thing. The coffee. They have a coffee, hot or iced called the 'Sweet Bourbon Brew'. I figured I was unlikely to get freshly roasted coffee with bourbon syrup from the nearby distillery anywhere else and went for it. It is AMAZING. I would come back just for this. Now, the restaurant itself. Live music on a Saturday morning. Kitschy, eclectic decor that was obviously quite intentional, and a DOLLY PARTON CORNER that has obviously existed for quite some time. Their motto appears to be a Dolly Parton quote. "If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours". Yes. It's that kind of place. They also seem to be attempting to control their carbon footprint.

Bourbon Café and Coffee Saloon is a charming little local café with an inviting, homey atmosphere…read morethat makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. It's the kind of place you instantly know you'll want to return to. This was our first time here and we were go glad we made the little trip down to Bourbon, MO! We ordered the bacon and egg panini, and it was cooked perfectly. Whatever homemade seasoned butter they use deserves special recognition--it added so much flavor and made an already great sandwich even better. Of course, the dessert case was impossible to ignore. Everything looked incredible, and choosing was no easy task. We finally settled on a pecan brownie and a sea-salt chocolate chip gooey butter cake slice. Both were fantastic, but the gooey butter cake completely stole the show. Hands-down, it was the absolute best gooey butter cake I have ever had--and I've tried many from plenty of bakers over the years. This single slice may have changed my outlook on life. They've set the bar so high that I honestly don't know how anyone else could top it. Warmed up just as the owner suggested, it was melt-in-your-mouth perfection with a tender, flaky crust and incredible flavor. Absolutely phenomenal. We will definitely be back again--and you should go too!

Plentiful seating, open spaces, and cozy lighting make this a great place to sit and catch up with a friend or work remotely. They also offer some goods from local businesses and makers. Service was a little hard to come by at first, but mostly because a single barista was managing both in-store and the drive through, so I'm guessing it was an off day.
