Dogtopia of Olathe - Her "interview" packet

Taking her anywhere is a terrifying experience because we don't know how she will react and if she will spend the next few days avoiding us or refusing to eat. We decided we want to start taking her to daycare occasionally to try to help with her comfort level when we aren't around, especially if we ever have to board her for a weekend. When we brought her to Dogtopia for her interview she was instantly comfortable because of the staff knowing how to handle anxious dogs. We were able to watch on the cameras as she was introduced to the other dogs in the Gym. As we expected, she watched from the perimeter as other dogs played. (Having the cameras is the best, I'm so thankful Dogtopia has them to ease my worrying mind). Her first full day, she started off watching the other dogs, mostly hanging by the human in the room but still running away from the human if she ever tried to pet her. Toward the end of the day she started thinking about playing with other dogs, as she would walk up to them but then immediately run away if they reacted to her being there. The next time we sent her, she actually played with some of the other dogs. Any time the dogs got a little rough, the human would break them apart quickly. Now, after a few weeks of sending her to Dogtopia, we have a completely different dog. She is so much more confident and we have had no issues with her not eating her food due to anxiety. She seems so happy when we pick her up at the end of the day. If we ever go anywhere and have to board her, I won't send her anywhere else. Taking her to Dogtopia has been the best decision we have ever made and I have been spreading the word like wildfire to friends and coworkers. Not only are their prices great and facilities clean, the staff is incredible and well-trained to know how to care for all types of dogs with all types of personalities. Thank you, Dogtopia!!

Be sure to…read morewatch the live web stream camera before you make a decision on boarding your dog at this place! Your dog will get NO HUMAN INTERACTION whatsoever. The staff stand around on their phone or with their hands on their hips - they will not so much as bend down to pet your dog on the head. Unless your dog is super rowdy he/she will not get any petting, talking to, or if it is a small dog they will not pick them up. They are completely uninterested in your pet. They act like they hate dogs and their job. Your dog will be in a small play area with anywhere from 20-40 dogs, they are crammed in and they usually had just 1 staff member between TWO rooms of dogs, generally over 50-70 dogs total AND that staff member is looking at their phone or leaning over the divider wall about to fall asleep. All they do is clean up the pee and poop, that's it. One day they had so many dogs they put the daycare dogs in my dog's overnight cabin and he did not get a mid-day break back to his cabin to rest. Those dogs slept in my dog's bed and ate his food. Another day they were only open 1/2 a day, they put the boarding dogs back in their cabin at noon and never came back to feed them their dinner or anything until the next morning. My dog lost over 2 pounds (and he's only 8 pounds - he drank 2 whole bowls of water as soon as we got home - he ate so much food for the first two days back home). WORST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!! INHUMANE TREATMENT!!! They should be SHUT DOWN!!!! The Owner does not care!

I've read several negative reviews for this clinic ever since the new ownership kicked in…read more I had a wonderful experience there. The receptionists were nice and attentive and the doctor's assistant was great getting my pet ready for her annual exam. When the doctor came in she was also very nice and really wanted to know about the history of my pet. We had shots to do and another assistant came in just to try to calm my little one down (even though she didn't really need it) and massaged her head during the whole procedure. I had several questions about a potential medical concern with my pet and I was given excellent advice and she did some additional checks for me. I'll definitely be back if I continue to get this kind of service.

The front desk HUNG UP ON ME when I tried to clear up an issue. I called again to speak with the staff manager. He handled it beautifully and I got an appointment that day. After getting the med I needed, I went to check out, the same young lady who hung up on me came to assist with follow up appointments. I told her I did not want to do a follow up on the appointment (I felt it is unnecessary, as is my prerogative) but I did want to go ahead with vaccinations for my 5 pets. She tensed up when I told her I did not want a follow up, she then just stopped, got up and left her post. The manager came back to complete the transaction. At that point I felt no need to go to this clinic when there are so many others to choose from. I will never go back. What a shame what they did to a fine clinic I once loved.

We are always worried about boarding the Dane not only because of her size but because of bloat and other things. Pet Ranch was amazing!!! We even had some questions after we checked out and not only did we get in touch with their vet, but the Asst Mgr made sure we were satisfied, even on the 4th of July! We will reccomend every chance we get =)

They told us our boys had some anxiety and nervousness and when they went in with other dogs, they acted shy and standoffish. For a first time evaluation and daycare, you would think the staff would know how to introduce dogs to others in a fashion that would make them comfortable. I mean how are dogs suppose to react with they aren't normally boarded like this. Our dogs are very social at the dog park and in general. My wife asked where they had been all day, and they said they had been separated but saw dogs in passing. Which made us think they had been in a kennel all day. Regardless our boys will NOT be going back...Very bad experience.
