They stole my money! I had used this business for over a year. My dog was boarded there and groomed there. In October 2024, I paid in advance for holiday boarding. It was quite a substantial amount of money due to the length of time and holiday rates. Two weeks after I paid, I was told they were no longer boarding and would issue me a refund, though they weren't quite sure how they were going to do that. By January 2025, I had heard nothing from them on my refund. I had even been charged two more times for grooming services. When I ask them about paying me back, they asked if they could do it in increments as they are a small business and couldn't afford to pay back the entire amount at one time. (even though I am required to pay the entire amount at one time for their services.) I agreed, and they issued me two small payments this spring. I am still owed $586. Their business is now closed they are in the wind, and they still have my money! These are the current owners, Ed and Chel Donnelly. They always do a great job with our two 100lbs+ Newfies. They have spent extra time making sure our puppy looked great, despite initially being afraid of the process. Highly recommend. read more

We took our 9 lb Cavapoo to Jane's Canine's for his first professional grooming. He is very shy and not excited about the experience. I am so happy to say that my sweet boy came out not only expertly groomed but absolutely no worse for the wear. Our Groomer, Cristin, was awesome! Jane's is under new ownership so disregard the last review which was potentially true. Jon is a man with a heart of gold and runs a business that centers around the pets. My beloved Boston Terrier, Oban loves it there. He has hated all other groomers. They have beds, toys, walks and training is available. It is the only place I will leave my dog. I have several other friends who use Jane's as well and they love it! Give it a try. read more

We've taken our sweet Shih Tzu there for grooming a few times. Satisfactory results, I had a pleasant exchange with the owner last time when I picked the dog up. Left a nice tip too. I would give them a B- grade on the grooming. So , my wife called for an appointment, the owner put her on hold for some time, came back, raising his voice at her "you and your family are never to come back here again- you are not welcome here!" Completely out of nowhere. She was shocked and asked why. He wouldn't say, carried on about being fired as a customer. We are hard pressed to understand what possibly set him off. Was it the reminder check list I left off for the groomer - things such as please don't give him treats? Were they insulted by that? Did he not like that I asked where the dog was kept after grooming? They have a very loud and chaotic boarding section immediately next to the grooming side - they share a lobby and it is very loud with big dogs. Was it because the dog pooped while they were grooming him the previous visit, no doubt nervous with the all the noise next door. Or was he simply confusing us with another customer? We will never know and we don't care too much due to the rudeness. Its completely unacceptable even if there was a grievance to talk to anyone in this manner. Particularly a repeat customer. Shocking! There are plenty of other places in town with nice people better skilled in customer service that will do just as well. read more

They are great and have taken good care of our pooch. The staff is friendly and involved. In fact, when we came to pick up our dog, they were in the middle of walking him with the other dogs! So, there's proof that they do actually walk the dogs. :) This made us very happy. We hope to continue using their services! read more

We just picked up our dog from the groomer at Jane's Canines and she looks amazing! Our dog isn't the easiest to groom. As in we have been turned away by a few places because of her reserved and skittish nature. John and the groomers met with us prior to dropping her off and everything they said they could do they did! We have a groomed dog who is waggin' her tail and lookin' great! I can't really rate Jane's Canines dog grooming services as they called an hour after I had dropped my dog off to tell me they did not want to provide my dog grooming services at Jane's Canines. I am thoroughly disappointed in Jane's Canines and wouldn't take my dog there again or recommend them to anyone for dog grooming or dog boarding. I'm not entirely sure why they refused service to my dog but I'm happy to share the conversations so that no one else schedules an appointment with them only to be extremely disappointed. I want to first note that when they contacted me to pick up my dog they said she was "wonderful" and "great", so there were no issues with her yet they did not want new business or for me to come back for any repeat business. When I contacted Jane's Canines in Leawood to schedule a dog grooming appointment they were nice and took my information. I noted to them that I wasn't comfortable with them contacting my vet for my dog's records but I had them and would provide a copy when I came to the dog grooming appointment. Upon arrival to Jane's Canines for our grooming appointment I found that they had ignored my request and contacted my vet. I noted to them that I was the main contact and that they did not have permission to contact my vet, they seemed shocked at this. Perhaps if this was a dog boarding appointment and a medical emergency came up I could understand their need to contact my vet, but not for a grooming appointment. Next, I noted three items on their waiver that I wasn't comfortable with and wanted to avoid but signed for all the other parts of their waiver. The first was my address, as this was the first time I was using Jane's Canines in Leawood and they had my phone number and email I didn't find it necessary for them to have my address at this point. Apparently, that was upsetting for them as well. Next, I asked for them to not take photos/videos of my dog, this was the one item they were okay with. Lastly, the other item I was not comfortable with was that Jane's Canines would be allowed to perform additional services without my permission and would of course charge me for them afterward. I spoke with the man about this at the desk and said this seemed odd to me and if additional services were needed that they simply needed to contact me and receive permission first before proceeding. They seemed put off by all of this but took my dog back letting me know they'd call when she was finished with her grooming appointment. I was very surprised to receive a call from Jane's Canines shortly after dropping my dog off for her grooming appointment. I was contacted by the owner who claimed I didn't trust them and they didn't want to take on a groom for my dog if I didn't trust them. At this point, I was a little upset they ignored my request to not contact my vet but had no other opinion of them as that would come after the grooming appointment. I'm really not sure what is going on at Jane's Canines in Leawood but apparently, they don't like it when a customer has specific requests that go against their regular processes. After such disappointing service, or really lack thereof, I would not recommend Jane's Canines for dog grooming or even dog boarding. read more

I am not usually one to write reviews, let alone a negative one. However, I believe that my experience with Jane's Canines needs to be shared with those who are currently using or who are considering using their services. I took my dog to Jane's Canines for about a year and a half. The first few months were awesome. He was so excited to be and they were always excited to have him. It wasn't until about a year into it that the first injury occurred. He was bit by other dog, that was also attending daycare. I was informed of this bite, and my dog was properly treated for his injury. However, when I began to question how or why this happened, I never received a clear answer. Just so we are clear, I'm not writing this review because I'm upset or angry about my dog being bit. I am writing this review because of the way they handled this situation and the one to follow. After taking a break for a few weeks, I decided to give Jane's Canines another chance. Which is where I went wrong. About 6 months after the first bite, my dog was bit again. This time, I was not informed of the injury. After picking my dog up that day, I noticed that had been bit on the top of his head. He had a huge gash and his hair was red from the blood. I took him to the emergency room, where they shave his head and put 3 staples in. The vet confirmed that this injury was from another dog. When I called to inform the owner that I was no longer needing their services, it was evident that he had no idea my dog had been injured, and all he said was sorry. I appreciate those who are apologetic, but when you are sitting on a pretty expensive, unexpected vet bill, you're hoping for a little bit more than just an apology. After contemplating for quite some time on whether or not I should post this review, I decided that those who are seriously considering or who are currently attending Jane's Canines deserved to know how they run their business. read more

Jane's Canines has really been a godsend for me. I have an energetic lab mix who loves going to Jane's for daycare. I love their flexibility and the fact that I can drop her off as often or as little as I need. I feel she is well cared for and she always comes home having exhausted her seemingly endless supply of energy. She runs in each day and is so excited to "play with her friends at Jane's." read more

Today was our first experience with Jane's Canines and it was fantastic. We had our very active puppy groomed for the first time and the groomer was amazing. I plan to take our puppy back for regular grooming and boarding, and recommend it to any dog owner who want the best for their four-legged friend. read more

Even though we heard some shady things, we gave this place a chance anyway. I honestly don't put alot of faith in reviews. This place however has earned the bad reputation. We are new to leawood and maybe our old place just spoiled us, but here is what Jane's is like. Our dog spent the day laying on a cement floor in a smaller then our bedroom chainlink pen. No dog beds, no toys, no water, no access to outdoor space. They do walk them, but I'm not sure how comfortable I am having a stranger take my dog on a flexi leash across a busy street. Its also pretty pricy. Had I not been late to work I would not have left him there once I saw the set up. Another dog there was being drug to the back by its collar. He wasn't happy to be there. Not what I'm used to seeing. We will be making the drive back to our old place in overland park. Even the guy at the desk looked unhappy to be there. read more
