Good atmosphere, The salad was delicious! The gator bites were a bit small, mostly bread and rubbery. The zombie bread was delicious. The chicken fingers were horrible, they taste frozen and were similar to a child's chicken nugget. I would not recommend these!!! The wait staff are friendly and very helpful.. I was only the third or fourth customer in the dining room. Was seated immediately by hostess. Waited about 5 - 10 minutes before approached by a server Jennifer who apologized profusely for my apparent lack of service! She proceeded to take my drink and food order. Just seconds later she delivered my beverage. And mere minutes later my tossed salad. The lettuce and other veggies were fresh and crispy, the croutons crunchy. Then I had barely finished my tasty salad when Jennifer arrived with my steak and smashed potatoes! Smashed potatoes were basically Idaho potato baked with skin on and "smashed" good taste. My Ribeye steak was cooked just as I requested. Nice amount of char on the meat! Steak was delicious and only a scant amount of sinew found near the edge. My server enticed me with the offer of Banana pudding and I surrendered. The pudding came swiftly garnished with four or five vanilla wafers on top of whipped cream. Food was awful, service was great. Seafood Gumbo was a watery, overcooked brown mess made with cheap, canned ingredients - no seasonig and totally tasteless. My wife's steak was mostly gristle and fat. We both tried but failed to find even a small, non-tough piece! The ceaser salad was not fresh and the dressing was not mixed, just served on the side in pre-measured packs. We were offered 20% off the steak, or free desert..for an inedible dinner- insulting for sure. Every one star rating we read before trying the place proved true on our visit. read more

The first time my husband and I ate there, it was new. The food was not good. When we gently complained to the server, she said, "Yeah, the kids are in the kitchen tonight." We told ourselves we would never go back. But then last night, in a lapse of judgement, we decided to give The Dive another chance. Maybe they got a real cook. When we walked in, we should have turned around and walked out. The place was quite warm with only overhead fans and a huge blower fan near the front door. This is summer in Alabama. My husband got the jambalaya. It was very dry, almost all rice, and way overpriced at $15.00, no sides. I got the fried catfish with fries. The catfish was a thick piece curled up in a dark brown shell of batter. The fish was tough and the batter shell hard. The fries were really strange. They were cajin seasoned, but limp, looking steamed more than deep fried. I couldn't eat them. This was one of the most unattractive plates I have ever seen. The food was fantastic! Gator bites, Po' Boy, Shrimp and grits I highly recommend. It was karaoke night when we arrived and there was a steady stream of participants with great music. Service was fantastic. Lacey was a pleasure to interact with. She offered several recommendations, all were spot on. My husband and I just stumbled on The Dive after checking into a nearby hotel after a 13 hour drive. It turned out that The Dive is very new to the area and no one at the hotel even knew about it. Hmm. Shame on them, but I digress. Our meals were both delicious. Seafood gumbo and a berry luscious salad with blackened chicken. The ultimate dish was the peach cobbler. Omg, best I've ever had by a long shot. We're not from the area, but will definitely go back if we're in the area. I have 4 words to describe the Dive, Old Fashioned, peach cobbler. This place is extremely overpriced and the quality of food the two times my wife and I went was unacceptable. I ordered the blackened salmon and it was barely cooked much less blackened, rice was undercooked, and the the chicken and sausage gumbo tasted as if it were two or three days old and not even bothered to be warmed up. to call the stuff they serve Cajun is a joke, to call it good should be a crime. The staff was friendly enough they are probably used to dealing with dissatisfied customers. We were a party of 8 and arrived at 3 pm on a Saturday the place was empty. After a 2 hour wait we received the nastiest stuff, I hate to call it food. would give it a 0 star if I could. the mix drinks did not have no alcohol not even a drop. i asked for a shot they said they could mix a drink. they could not give me a shot of liquor. I asked what was there highest proof liquor. it take 4 people to talk for 5 minutes and told me gin. and they had a 1800 right beside the gin that was a higher proof. they don't know what there doin. there over priced. and it was hot not ac just a small box fan that did nothing and I was in the bar room. for 2 mix dr that had not alcohol and 2 beers and 2 entrée's that was not that good.
