Great place to eat. Food and presentation was wonderful. Not open on Tuesdays which was strange when we went back the next week.

The food and servers are great. Although when ordering to go you have to ask and pay for condiments to whereas you dine in it is no charge.

This was our second time coming here in about two months, they recently changed management from the last time we came, and we all agreed that we missed the old management. The food was good, the only thing I didn't enjoy was my teriyaki shrimp, but everything else was delicious. I wish that they would of accommodated us with the changing the menu some, for instance instead of a California roll, could we just get a regular roll with our bento lunch. Would have been great. Overall this is still a good restaurant and a good find in Clanton. read more

Their hibachi dinners are really good. Love their ginger dressing for the salad. Not a fan of the iceberg lettuce in the salad but it's still good. Onion soup is really good. The sushi is delicious. Love the spicy girl roll and Philly roll, although I wish they used smoked salmon instead of just regular. read more

Excellent fried rice, tempura shrimp, the bento boxes are great, sushi tastes very good. Beef is a pretty good cut They are usually pretty fast with to go orders. Its the best Asian food, in Clanton. read more

Food portions were good and the rice was okay as well as the sauce. The salad was lettuce with the thinnest piece of cucumber doused in sauce. The soup was ok but not great. The chicken from the chicken hibachi was overwhelmingly plain and had no flavor whatsoever. It's like they forgot to add anything to it and gave us white, dry, plain chicken. We added store brand teriyaki sauce and it made it 1000x better. This place was our go to when we wanted Japanese but they've cheaped out on the flavoring and it shows. Will not be back, next time we will drive 30 minutes to Prattville or Alabaster. read more

Japanese food in Clanton, Alabama? Who'da thunk it? The food here is extremely tasty with plentiful portions and good pricing. The restaurant is very small and intimate, and is very neatly decorated considering they took over a fast food chicken location! You can't watch them cook your food like popular bigger city Japanese restaurants, but the food is less expensive and you can sit and visit in a relatively quiet environment. read more

My wife and I tried Samato's for the first time. We both had lunch and ice tea for under $20. The food was very good and the California roll was cold. I was sure my wife would not like it as she is a picky eater, but really liked it! Their kids menu is OK, but only had about 3 items on it. I highly recommend you try Samatos when you are in Clanton! read more

Food was ok, much like most Japanese Restaurants. Table service on, no habachi bar. Service was questionable at best. The soup and salad came AFTER the main meal and only because we reminded the staff. No drink refills were offered.. and no the restaurant wasn't busy enuf or warrant that type service. I'll eat here again and hope the management will consider serious training of the wait staff. read more

An unexpected treat! This little restaurant isn't fancy or top of the line for atmosphere but the food is worth the trip! The waitress was kind as well. But if you are looking for atmosphere and fancy frills - this is just a very small restaurant with bare bones atmosphere. The building is run down - but the food is excellent!! read more

I really hate writing negative reviews but being an avid yelper my husband and I came across this place as we came through town and had such high expectations based on the previous reviews. There is nothing wrong with the place per se, but the quality was not great at all. The service was wonderful and all the waitresses were sweet as could be. And there was a steady and continuous crowd coming in on a Monday. But the food was a different story. My husband got the spicy tuna (we're pretty frequent consumers of sushi) and it came out in a puréed form. He ate a few pieces but it was brutal. I got the hibachi and the yum yum sauce was great, but the rice was unbearable. Again, I don't want to intentionally down a local spot but just keep expectations at bay before heading in. read more

I do not know how this place has escaped me! Sushi in Clanton, AL who would have thought! The Hawaii roll is my favorite. The love monkey is also very tasty. Very clean and the staff is very nice. It is very reasonable on price for sushi. Next time I will have to try the hibachi. read more

Service was good but the chicken was horribly dry. It was the texture of canned chicken. Definitely lacked flavor.

One star for terrible customer service and major lack of professionalism. I ordered Chicken Hibachi which came out quickly, however lacked any real flavor and had barely any vegetables on the plate. When I complained to the server and sent the plate back she said sorry and brought our check along with the full price of the dish. Since I didn't eat any of the dish I asked the server to kindly remove the cost. There was no manager on duty, so after much arguing back and forth the staff had to call the manager twice to attempt to refund my money. They were obviously upset at my request, but finally agreed to take off the $9 meal. I said thank you and got no response back at all. I am really a very easy customer to please. I hardly ever complain about a meal or write negative reviews, but the serious lack of customer service will cause me to never return to this restaurant. read more

Ate there twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch: Was overcharged by $3.00 for my Lunch Special - pointed it out to the waittress who took an attitude with me and insisted that what I had ordered was not on the lunch menu; therefore she charged the dinner price. Even though I obviously did not receive a dinner portion. Dinner: Decided they were new in town and would give them one more chance, since the food quality the first time was not bad. Waited at least 20 minutes for someone to take our order (after I flagged someone down). Finally got to order and received my soup - clear onion soup with what appeared to be floating pieces of onion - turned out to be paper. Green tea was the absolute worst I have ever had.....and was lukewarm at best. Watched several that were seated long after us receive their food and nearly finish it before we received ours - was told the kitchen was backed up - although it appeared that it was only "backed up" in our case. Finally recieved it, after complaining about the time it was taking and I'm pretty sure we did not receive Filet Mignon (looked more like sirloin) and the quality was not that great. Waittress also told us that someone else had found hair in their dinner that night. All in all, I had hoped this restaurant would be a keeper, but it won't be in business long at this rate. There seems to be no management running the place, or inexperienced management. I cannot recommend it based on my personal experience there twice. Did not even want to give it one star, but this thing won't allow none. read more
