The Alabaster location has a new name and look. You should stop by today to experience the atmosphere. Everyone is very polite and helpful in explaining the menu. We enjoyed lunch options our sushi was prepared to order it was very delicious. The staff was able to serve the lunch crowd. I can't wait to visit again.

My husband and I randomly stumbled upon Mizu snd were pleasantly surprised! The service was quick and polite. Atmosphere was fun and the chef was very entertaining. The food was good and exactly what we wanted. Would go back!

If you're looking for fresh sushi, fast service, and a great dining experience, Mizu in Alabaster is the place to be! We walked in expecting a wait, but to our surprise, we were seated right away in the dining area--no waiting at all, which is practically unheard of these days! We started with drinks and an order of edamame, and before we even finished deciding on our sushi, the appetizer was already at our table--talk about speedy service! For our main course, we went all in with the Dynamite Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, Smoked Salmon Roll, and the Godzilla Roll. Not only were the portions incredibly generous, but the prices were totally reasonable. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented--basically, sushi perfection. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a nice dinner without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. And let's talk about the bathrooms--super clean, which is always a plus! We ordered so much sushi that we even had leftovers to take home (a rare but delightful problem to have). To top off the night, we cracked open our fortune cookies, and let's just say--we're feeling extra lucky! If the fortunes are anything to go by, we'll be back at Mizu again soon.

My niece and I came here for lunch on a Tuesday( I believe). It wasn't crowded at at. We placed our to go order with their pleasant staff. They were very engaged and helpful. I ordered from their sushi lunch menu, which consisted of 2 rolls and soup or salad. The sushi rolls were well prepared and delicious. I didn't eat the soup. I gave it to me niece. She enjoyed it! This was my very first time coming to this location in Alabaster. The inside is rather dark but maybe that's the mood they are going for. Overall , a nice first time visit!

I always enjoy my experience at Mizu. From the hostess to the waitress to the cooks, everything was great. I ordered the chicken and shrimp hibachi which comes with miso soup, ginger salad, meats, veggies, rice, and noodles. The food was great and of course tasted fresh. Also for the price, it's a lot of food. The only issue we had was our wine glass broke very easily, which was slightly surprising, but it was replaced quickly. All in all, great visit and great atmosphere.

Very poor look for the restaurant

Food is amazing. Friendly staff but please get a new hostess, current one always has messy appearance and is always texting on her phone, very unprofessional in my opinion.

This is one of my favorite japanese restaurants. The service is always excellent. The California rolls are very good. I got the steak and chicken with noodles and fried rice. The side of shrimp sauce or yum yum sauce is very tasty. The onion soup is very tasty. I live the salad with the ginger dressing.

Eating at the bar is fun and usually you can get seated quicker for two!

We have eaten at Mizu probably 100 times!! We love being able to get decent sushi close to home without driving into Birmingham (to somewhere probably more expensive). The appetizer pan fried potstickers are so yummy, the hibachi show is great and the food is always quality, also the birthday celebration is super fun! We especially love these rolls, we try to have a variety of seafood in our order: Crazy salmon roll Masa roll Ocean blue Snow White roll Phoenix roll Sweet Heart Roll

Our waiter was very personable and up beat for a rainy Thursday night. There were 20 in our party and of course we had to sit in 2 different grills, but were in the same area. Our cook was amazing. He was very engaging. I did not order from the hibachi. I ordered the Trussville roll and gyoza. Both were good. Now lets talk about the hibachi. Several people in the party was very disappointed in the taste of their food. There was a total lack of seasoning. Matter of fact there was no season at all. Needless to say the manager was called and several meals were removed off of the bill. The graduate in our party asked the cook if he could put some kind of seasoning on the food and he said no. No salt pepper etc.... I do understand that some people have dietary restrictions but there was no one in our party like this. They even when so far as to ask for some garlic butter for the steak. I did taste a piece of the steak and it tasted like nothing. If you're looking for hibachi, let this be the last if not on your list.

Where do I begin? I…read morehave lived in the Birmingham Metro area the majority of my life and love trying new places, so when my son spotted this place on a shopping trip to Publix and asked if we could go try it out I said yes (if he was a well-behaved boy at school lol). Luckily for us, he was today. It's location being over the parking deck is probably why I didn't notice it and I was nervous about how accessible it would be however there were two solid ways to get there either from the street or parking deck so that proved to be no issue at all. It has both indoor and outdoor seating with cute decor all over the inside. I've never been to Japan but one could imagine this gave its all to emulate the feel of a cool Japanese city restaurant. There's a cocktail bar on the right, sushi bar to the left, and good seating in the middle. Maybe large parties would be hard to seat upon reflection but I'm sure it's doable. The menus we received were EXTENSIVE. So many sushi and nigiri options were available it was almost overwhelming but they also gave us a paper selection for sushi that went into detail of the chef specials. But don't worry, they had other options including various soups, salads, appetizers (we got the spring rolls, YUM. My son devoured them), and hibachi style dishes. We decided to get the Udon with shrimp and veggies, Osaka roll, and Vestavia roll. Genuinely, you can taste the love and care. My son actually closed his eyes and sighed when he dived into the noodles dish and was enamored with the Vestavia roll (did I mention he's six?? Seriously, that reaction from a six year old means they're doing something right!). I also was beyond impressed with the flavors of it all. I wish I was more hungry so I could get more. Lastly, I want to touch on service. I, myself, am a bartender so service is a big thing for me. I have high expectations because I know how the job should be done. When I tell you these lovely people know how to make you feel at home, goodness. Every customer that came in was warmly greeted and if they were a regular it was like they were coming home. The lovely lady at the front (I want to say was maybe the manager?) was all smiles and running around helping and talking with staff and guests alike. She stopped by our table and chatted with my son and told us she was happy they had "new family members" (LOVE). Our server was phenomenal, even seeing my son was struggling with his chopsticks so he rigged up a pair to be more kid friendly which was great. We were sat facing the sushi bar so we were watching how much care and effort they were putting into each plate. It was a sight to see. This place clearly cares about its patrons from the moment they come in til the moment they leave. The love they put into every dish and interaction should be something you get everywhere. They've set a high bar and I'm happy we got to experience it. I cannot wait to go back. I'm already plotting what I'll try next!

The restaurant wasn't crowded at all, which made for a quiet and easygoing meal. The sushi itself was just okay... nothing particularly memorable, but it satisfied the craving. When we arrived, my friend asked how the All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) option worked. After the server explained it, I made a lighthearted joke to my friend saying, "So, anything and as much as you want!" The server immediately snapped back with a rude comment about her manager not liking food waste. I told her it was just a joke between friends, but the attitude didn't stop there. When I tried to order a single bowl of ramen, she told me to get the AYCE dinner option instead, even though ramen is listed individually on the menu. Because I have a smaller appetite, iI told her it was good and I was sticking with the ramen. Later, my friend offered to share a piece of her sushi roll with me. The server cut in and rudely snapped that we weren't allowed to do that, stating that if I wanted anything else, I had to get the all you can eat. While we told her that I wasn't getting from her food we where just sharing because it was our first time there, she was sooo rude coming at us that we CAN'T. While I understand AYCE sharing rules, her delivery was incredibly hostile, argumentative, and unprofessional. It completely ruined our lunch break.
