Trudy did a great job at the last minute. I needed to have a slideshow completed for My Mom's service. She listened to all of the things that I was hoping to have in it and really helped me out in a very desperate time. I was very pleased with the outcome of the slideshow and then when I realized I needed flowers arranged. Michelle helped me fill some beautiful vases I brought in. This was the night before the service. It was such a blessing and I'm truly grateful for their kindness and genuine concern for my situation. thanks again. read more

I lost my son a few weeks ago and had to put together a slideshow in just a couple of days for his service. Trudy was amazing and jumped right on it to make sure I had it done in time. She did such a beautiful job with everything and it was just perfect. If you're a dog lover, don't be surprised when you walk in and find Tonka. A precious bulldog who goes to work with Mom, but definitely brings a smile to your face when you walk in. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for doing such a beautiful job for my son. read more

The worse passport place EVER! They will have you looking crazy and they don't take a photo and pause and let you know when they are taking another photo. They sit in the back and pick the photo and edit without showing you options for the photo you are paying for. Then tell you that you look great. How are they still in business? It's funny. The jokes on them. I went elsewhere and my photo looks amazing! read more

I never leave reviews I'm a business owner myself and know the severity of a bad comment but this company is just the worst experience I've ever had. I took a film camera to Coachella this year and wanted to get it developed. The man at this shop says he'll have it emailed to me in one day. Long story short . Had to call into the shop 2 times for an update weeks later. The owner tells me the film came out bad. He sent them to my email but he says there's no way to prove he sent them (but he claims they were sent) then he says he lost my original film so i cant even take them somewhere else. I couldn't even get angry at this guy because he seemed so incompetent. How this place is in business still i have no idea. Save yourself the trouble . Go to Walmart or something. read more

Dropped in today for a small print job. So friendly and helpful! Will definitely go back when I need another print job!

Walked in and there was no one there. The bell wasn't working either. Kept walking further towards the back room and heard snoring. The guy was literally sleeping on the job. read more

I had just gotten a new film camera and planned to take my brothers engagement photos on it, so I put in a test roll and asked those at Digital Photo Lab to develop it for me. We were leaving for a trip later that week and I was super excited to get the photos back but when I went to pick them up that Wednesday, they man profusely apologized and told me that his chemicals had yet to come in so he had to use someone else's lab to get them developed. As it turns out, the other lab didn't develop them so when I went to pick up my test roll I was visibly disappointed about the lack of pictures. However, later the next day, I received a call that he was able to get them developed and gave the pictures to me free of charge!! I picked them up quickly and he even plugged in the flash drive and showed me the pics on his computer (they turned out great btw). Needless to say I will definitely be going to Digital Photo Lab to get my film developed for the foreseeable future. read more

Probably THE WORST service I've experienced at ANY business EVER Went in with my sister to get photos developed and was instantly turned off because the woman who worked there was not wearing a mask... but definitely not the worst part -- The man at the counter was already helping another customer when we walked in, so only the woman was available to help us. Without greeting us, she very irritatedly asked what we needed. She kept looking us up and down during the entirety of our conversation, only to tell us that the other man would help us instead. Immediately after, she turned back to the other customer and her mood changed entirely as she was laughing and being extremely friendly towards him. (Definitely did not appreciate the blatant disrespect and disinterest) The other male employee was not as bad, but still not the best service. He was VERY condescending in his tone and in the way he explained the photo development process. Both people working were highly unprofessional and presumptuous. Definitely left me in a horrible mood after leaving. The attitude at this establishment is not worth a single penny, and I would highly recommend spending your money elsewhere as there are tons of other photo labs that have infinitely better quality and service :/ TLDR; - Racist & pretentious employees - Female employee not wearing a mask during COVID - No customer service skills whatsoever - Not worth the money read more

Normally I wouldn't go out of my way to give a poor review but this place is awful. The customer service is terrible. Every time I go in I ask for matte pictures and the owner always tells me he "doesn't usually do that" but tells me he will with attitude. I've gotten my film developed here a few times hoping that my film/service will be better. My pictures always come out awful in color and with lines/ spots on them. I have had disposables developed many times before moving to Simi and coming to Simi Valley photo labs and never had this issue. Also takes about a week for scans and film to be developed. Save your money and go somewhere else because they charge just about the same at other photo labs. (Side note: no one who works there wears a mask) read more

Not one to normally post a review if I had a negative experience but here I am. So I went in to see if 2 photos could be incorporated into 1. I was greeted by a man who was sitting down I assumed he was another customer. I stood at the counter waiting for someone who worked there to help me. The woman in the back didn't even greet me instead just asked the 1st man, Brad I think was his name, to help me. I will add he seemed reluctant to & was not at all thrilled. Then when I asked for the pricing he said I don't know & just stood there. Went to go call the woman who couldn't help me at first she said I'd have to email the pic to Brad then she'd take a look at it if it's of good quality on a certain size before she gave me a price. I asked her for the email & she said just send it to me it'll be easier & walked over to get a business card but instead of handing it to me she just tossed it on the counter & walked away. My 1 star is on how poorly they treated a potential new customer. They probably do great work but their treatment was horrible. I hope this is not their norm. read more

I had a wonderful experience at the Digital Photo Lab. Both Rusty and Trudy were very friendly and knowledgeable about photography. Their advice and assistance helped me turn my vacation landscape photo into a beautiful piece of wall art! I plan to use them frequently in the future. read more

I can't say enough good things about Simi Valley Photo lab. Trudy and Rusty provided excellent service ! Trudy was able to edit my mom to a photo of myself and my sister . The photo result was excellent. It looks like my mom was in the original photo . Turn around was quick ! Trudy was excellent in her follow up to make sure my photos came out the way I wanted them . Rusty printed my photos perfectly. We will be back with more projects. Thank you read more

I asked why there were lines on my scans. He said "probably because the negative is scratched." I said, "You processed them." He said, "Yeah that happens." It doesn't happen at a quality lab! read more

Horrible experience here. Wishing it were a different outcome as I don't like the thought of writing bad reviews on small businesses but I feel because of how insensitive it was, this is necessary. I called to get my father in laws pictures off of his camera since he just passed away and there were pictures on there our family would have wanted on it. The gentleman I spoke with over the phone said we would have it all by Wednesday and it sounded promising. When I got there I handed him the camera, after telling him the story of the camera again in person. He took the camera, opened it up and started ripping out the film right there and he said "oops, sorry there's nothing I can do for you it's been exposed to light and the camera was dead". After leaving I called anywhere I could to see if there was anything salvageable on it and they all said he destroyed anything on there by doing it in the light instead of going into a dark space. So, Instead of trying to change the battery or just not touching it and telling me to go elsewhere he made it to where we'll never get those photos. I see mixed reviews on here and I'm so happy for those who have had good experiences here. Pictures are something almost everyone holds on to for memories and we lost out on the ones on that camera today. Hoping others have a different outcome. read more

Great job!!! We needed a blow up of a photo (poster size) for a birthday. Photo Labs did an excellent job with an old, black & white photo, and the service and turnaround time were great! Highly recommend!!! read more

These guys are great. They may not get it done in under an hour, but the stuff they do is worth the wait. I use them for anything that can't go to costco. Basically anything I need to be perfect, slides, and really big enlargements. (more than 12X18) My girlfriend has used them to blow up two of our images to more than 20X30 and they are now looking awesome in our living room. If you're a real wanna-be photog (like me) Simi Photo Labs is the only local place worth using. read more

Came in for a passport sized picture and left happy. I had already been to Walgreens which was a terrible experience. The lady there held the camera entirely too close to my face, didn't count down before taking the pic, had terrible lighting - all of which resulted in the worst mugshot I've seen. Simi Valley Photo Labs were just as fast as Walgreens but the results are those of a professional. read more

I used Simi Valley Photo Lab to make a poster for my husband's 40th birthday & they did an exceptional job. Ten years later, at his 50th, I put together a collage of pictures spanning 50 years in age. The team took my pictures and idea, and made an incredible collage. The lay out was exactly what I wanted. The pictures I provided were cleaned up and looked brand new. It's beautiful. They worked with me the entire process, kept me updated, and met my time request. They are professional & did an exceptional job. read more

I have been coming to Rusty, the owner, for film development for about 5 years now. This is one of the only places to develop film locally next to dexter's camera in Ventura County. If you have film that you need developed, bring it to Rusty, and he will take care of you. He is a really nice guy who has been in the business for a long time. They recently changed locations to the Simi Valley Town Center... passes Red Robin down the alley there. The "rude" woman that people speak of in the reviews is actually very nice if you approach her like a kind human being. This has been and will be my go to place for film development until they close their doors. read more

the digital photo lab - Great - Photography Stores & Services Near Me - Simi Valley, California

I shoot film. Photo labs that process film have died by the dozens. It's good to know that there is still one around. In today's age, we expect instant gratification. Take a picture, oh, there it is! on the back of your digital camera or on your phone. Film takes time to do on every level. Consider your shot, consider your film, consider your composition, consider your camera, consider your subject, consider your light. So why should you get it back right away as the one-hour-photo stop shop doesn't exist? I was so very happy when I discovered Simi Photo right in my own back yard. I had sent out film and ended up spending an awful lot of money on postage and travel for a roll of film. Turn around time is reasonable provided it is standard C-41 (color film) negatives. It takes longer for black and white (hand developed) and slide film (E-6). It costs more, too. But, compared to mailing and waiting and scanning and and and - Simi Photo tells you when it is likely to be ready - not always on schedule, but they can give you a good estimate. Why? Because you are dealing with people, not a machine that shows you the image in a billionth of a second. I always get a call when my film is in, and this is good enough for me. Besides the film experience, Simi Photo offers other services, from passport photos, to printing, to reproduction of archives, to digitizing film, to excellent printing - black and white as well as color - on a variety of stock. Customer service is good and I am more than happy with the quality of development, turn around time, and whatever other services I need. Are they perfect? Not quite - after all, we are all human! - but they are friendly and competent and know what they are doing. I appreciate this. For someone who knew little about film other than shooting it, I've learned from the owner and staff, and am happy to refer my other film shooting friends, as well as those looking for other photographic and printing services. Altogether, a local business worth supporting - and I am glad to do so. read more

$92.17 for (3) 20 year old rolls to get developed. So my friend died last month and I had some old undeveloped 35mm photo rolls lying around that I thought he might be in so I called around and found this place. When I called on a Tuesday they told me the person that develops the film was on vacation and may be back on Friday. When I dropped off my film on Friday Trudy told me so and so was actually in a car accident and they expect them to return early next week..... fine so I left my undeveloped 20 year old 35mm film rolls with Trudy. I asked if I could pay for my prints now she said you can pay for the exposure, 3 rolls of film is $18.00. ok fine so I paid that. I also asked how much for the prints she told me $0.22 cents each, so I told her ok give me 2 prints each. I called 1 weeks later, It will be ready next week Next week came and I called they had no record of me. Then they called me back and said they received a bad batch of some development solution. Later in the week they they called me on a Saturday and a Sunday I finally picked up my photos on a Monday 3 weeks later. The man behind the counter charged me $0.50 cents per photo "what" originally I was quoted by Trudy as $0.22 cents a photo. He said because of the type of prints they were. 3 rolls of film now came out to $74.17 plus $18.00 = $92.17 for (3) 20 year old grainy photos. And my friend was not in any of them. what a waste of money read more

I brought in a color photo that had faded and color-shifted a little. I asked the man at the counter (the owner, as it turned out) to make a copy and color-correct it. He said he'd scan the original and PhotoShop it and have it ready in several days. When I picked up the two photos I was surprised, to say the least. The colors in the copy were way off. Patches of blue had been changed to green and areas of red became black. Many small white spots mysteriously appeared in the copy. The owner told me the spots were in the original. (Not true!) Other areas of the new image were misshapen and murky. For nearly $100 I expected much better than that. I asked the owner to redo the photo and he grudgingly agreed. It took another several days and the results were marginally better than the first. I refused to accept it, so the owner asked his associate to redo the copy. She asked me to sit with her and point out the changes I wanted. During that time she took a call and proceeded to chat away while we worked on my photo. (Can you say "unprofessional"?) When we were finished with the redo, the results were mediocre--she couldn't correct the deformities and some of the murkiness. At that point I decided to cut my losses, accept her version, and leave. read more

Really wonderful business! They will develop your photos beautifully and for a great price! I will definitely do business with them again. I got some slide film developed and cross-processed and I was blown away! So good! Give them a try! Also, I might add that I snail mailed my film to their store. When they're done, they'll mail it back to you for FREE if you're in California. read more

Worst photo shop i have seen in my life. I wanted 3 passport photos but they had to be 4cm x 6 cm for a foreign passport. And he could fix the size at all because he only knows how to use the standard size template on his computer .. so every 2 photos only produced one usable one !!! Then he could not use the cutting board correcly again since it was in inches ... so every photo was a different size .. some slightly smaller and some larger !!! i ended payying for ALL his dumb mistakes and i paid $32 for what was supposed to be a $9.95+tax !!! And to add to all that the pictures were so bad they were not usable ..He would not even take another set of digital photos when he saw they were bad pictures, just had me choose from them. I have them all, they are worthless !!. And had to get a new set. Unless you want standard photos ... SAVE YOUR MONEY .. AND GO ELSEWHERE . This guy has no idea hoy to use a computer , let alone photo editing or printing. read more

I never usually leave reviews but I was so taken aback by the rude service here that I thought I should let others know. I came into Simi Valley Photo Labs the other day to get some information on what types of prints they do and get an estimate for what I wanted done. I waited in line behind another customer for quite a while while they finished up and made small talk (which was fine), but afterwards the clerk (and the other two that were also present) did not even look in my direction or acknowledge me at all. I finally went up to him and when I did I was met with impatience and disregard. He consistently interrupted me and did not let me finish my questions before giving me answers that were unhelpful, and he let me know how much I was inconveniencing him by wanting prints because he "had to go to the post office" and "Father's Day was coming up". I eventually got frustrated and just left before I got the answers I wanted, and I can't wait to never go back. Do yourself a favor and just go to CVS where you'll be met with more kindness and professionalism. read more

Had 6 photos enlarged to be placed on artist easels for my wife's funeral service and the results exceeded my expectations. This company did a fantastic job and the best picture was enlarged from a photograph and not a jpeg (higher degree of difficulty is what I am saying). If you're looking for a lab that can do anything with an existing photograph or a digital copy, this is the place to go. For those individuals that have ripped this company here in Yelp, I don't understand how I can get my level of quality and customer service and you get what you did. I am legit and so is my review. I live in Simi, I am a consumer, I run a company as a CEO and I know what quality and customer service is. read more

This place is terrible! I dropped my film off on a Saturday and was told it would be ready by Wednesday. I was told I would have to pay in advance, which was unusual at first, but now it makes sense. Unfortunately, due to work I was not able to pick up my film until a week later. I went in at 11 am, a full 7 days later, and my film was not ready! It had been processed, but not scanned! The guy behind the counter told me that it was because the internet had gone down, earlier in the week. A 30 minute process, could not be accomplished in 7 days? The guy behind the counter informed me that it would be ready by 3 pm. I asked that they please call and contact me, since it's not in my hometown and I didn't want to waste another trip. No one called by 2:50 so I called them. Still NOT READY! The guy on the phone was telling me that he was still waiting for the machine to warm up! Like that is a valid excuse? Has it been warming up since the previous Saturday? I informed him that my film was dropped off a week earlier and I was told that it would be ready by Wednesday and he said, yeah, they were just busy. So I told him that I wanted a refund. He refused, claiming that he had already processed my film. Had he? Do I have it? NO! Just walking in the door, you can tell this place is on it's last $10....don't pay first! This place is a joke. read more

I came to the photo lab to have a simple copy made of a black and white line drawing on heavy paper. I had made photo copies on my cheap printer at home to make sure that I was happy with how a copy would look prior to my visit. When quoted $15 per 8x10 copy I did not blink an eye because I was sure of my art and confident in this printer's reviews. I came back a week later to pick up two prints and was given splotchy overly contrasted images that looked like something my home printer would have produced on low ink supply. I thought there must have been a mistake. This printer was highly recommended. Surely they would see why I was I not satisfied and would fix the problem. I left my original art and the two prints they made and said I would come back in a week. When I returned they were very defensive, said they could not do better because my art was "too detailed" and refused any sort of refund or discount.
