Needed to find a location to get some passport photos taken after having a terrible experience at a Mail Junction location. I jumped on Yelp to find a location with good reviews and narrowed it down to Hooper Camera. I called them first to make sure that an appointment wasn't required, no appointment needed. It was fun, fast and easy; the young man behind the counter got me handled in no time and knew all of the required specifics for a USA passport. He did inform me that they do process non USA passport photos, the photo requirements are often different; I suggest calling ahead to make sure the right person is there to take those photos. All in all a good experience and would defiantly use them again. read more

Recently I asked Hooper's to scan a partial carousel of 35mm of 120+ slides. I viewing their results on the thumb drive several, of my slides were so dark or so light they are of no use to me. What I gave to be scanned was an organized program sequence in a carousel, what I got back was a baggy full of slides an empty carousel. and a thumb drive of poorly copied / scanned slides. Based on my results I cannot recommend them for their scanning service. read more

Great employees! Love this place so much!!! Everyone is so kind and they have great refurbished cameras!

i always get my film developed here, the workers are soo sweet and it always turns out amazing. if you can come here to get film developed instead of places like CVS/Walmart you should come support this business, you won't be disappointed! read more

Fantastic small town service! My image was prepared faster than I expected and they even let me pick it up just after closing time. Thank you! read more

I had a great experience with this business. I had dropped my Nikon z7 and it stopped working, they said not a problem they would send it in to Nikon and have it evaluated. I got a text back in less than a week that it was back repaired and cleaned. The repair seemed like a fair price. read more

They are fine. But the counter folks could be a bit more friendlier. I dont have all the more to write.

Wish I could give zero stars SO expensive and my pictures were not clear. Do NOT bring your special orders here terrible customer service and the ending up charging me $180 for 10 blurry photos. Stay away you've been warned!! read more

Best service ever!! Gary listened to all of my concerns with my camera and helped me fix it in just a couple of days! Could not recommend this place more!!! read more

It's great to see a Camera shop surviving and doing great work at fair prices. They did a terrific job making enlargements from my old negatives. This Shop has a long history in our community and it is a pleasure doing business with them. Please support this local gem. read more

I had my passport pictures done here. I called initially to make sure, the lady who answered was very nice and told me don't put on too much highlighter bc the camera will refract and I'll have to wipe it with a tissue. I thought that was very nice of her to let me know that ahead of time. My 2 pictures were $20 which I think is pretty standard. She also said if I didn't like the first round we would redo them and she was patient with me read more

Hoopers is that all-important local community store that is invaluable. I bought my Canon camera there 10 years ago, and whenever I am unsure of something, the customer service I receive there is superb. When you buy an expensive electronic piece, there is so much value and surety in being able to take it to the people who sold it to you. You cannot do that with online purchases. Please support this highly credible store that stands by their products. They are always available to support and help out. Cannot say enough good things about Hoopers, their honesty, and the fact that they always go the extra mile for everyone. It's a dying necessity in this online age. read more

Such an amazing store with classic cameras film and processing photography. It was refreshing

Great camera store with highly experienced and knowledgeable staff! Picture printing is also easy and timely.

Very helpful to get old pictures refurbished. Taught me how to download my photos to have printed.

I have been going to Hooper Camera since they were in their original location in Newbury Park. So when I decided to sell my old cameras and equipment I naturally thought of taking it there and that I would get a fair deal. Well, that's not what happened, not even close! At first he wanted my cameras, then he walked away into the back, when he came back out all interest in my cameras was gone! All he wanted was the two lenses off of each, the cameras are an old Yashica and an a Pentax that was a birthday gift about thirty years ago. He also wanted the two flash units for each camera. What was he willing to pay? He was almost at $100 for everything, but then he went into the back and came back only interested in the lenses and flash units and that was at a drastically reduced price--$5 dollars for each piece! Twenty bucks! If that is how you treat someone who has been a loyal customer for forty years, I hope you don't last another forty years. How much did you turn around and sell them for? If it was even close to what you paid for all four of my items, you owe me some more money! I will NEVER BE GOING BACK TO HOOPER CAMERA! read more

Helpful customer service and support you in asking questions about pictures and development of film and digital photography!

Really helpful. So happy I came by to get an older digital camera for a great price. Wonderful experience. Thank you so much.

Got my disposable camera developed here - it was ~$32 for 27 prints and a CD with them on it, but I was really happy that they also give you the negatives as well! Will be coming back to get the rest of my film developed :) read more

Staff is kind and I came here a few times to develop film but the service is slow and overpriced. I assumed it was normal to pay $22 to develop a roll of film and wait a week, but then I went to this place on topanga and they charged me $36 for 4 rolls and it took 24 hours for me to get it. I felt robbed and insulted that I've been paying this much and waiting this long. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

I have bought cameras and lenses for years from Hoopers. even though I don't live close anymore, I always stop in when I can. Theirusedlens stock is amazing and I always can't leave without buying something amazing. Its always a magical experience exploring their lens cabinet!!! read more

SO HELPFUL! I just bought a film camera and I had no clue how to use to. The kind man up front taught me everything and helped me insert the film as well, free of charge. He also told me to come back if I was unsure of anything and they would be glad to help. read more

Super nice to find a specialized camera shop in the area. General electronic shops like Best Buy or Frys don't cut the mustard with the pimply-faced sales clerks. These guys know everything about everything. Prices are quite a bit higher for equipment and film processing, but they have a pretty good stock of accessories that it'll be worth your time to stop by. Ask away. All your questions will be answered! read more

Transferred my VHS's to see a cd I was expecting it to take a week or more, they called me with them three days. Beautiful job highly recommend this company. read more

They're awesome! Really helpful, and they have a lot of gear. Definitely recommend heading to hooper for camera needs

My Canon DSLR needed to be sent to the factory for a repair. Hooper was notified there was nothing that could be done. Instead of leaving me to figure out what to do next, I was offered a similar model for the same price as the estimated repairs. Very professional and courteous. Highly recommend. Thank you! read more

These guys are experts. If have been to several camera stores, and they are often very stuffy and cater to professionals.. These guys can talk up or down depending on your skill level and are VERY knowledable about the product line. Do they have every camera there? No Do they have every price range? Yes These guys seem to have 1-3 cameras for each price range and know a lot about each of them. They encourage you to touch them and if they don't have one on display they will take one out of the box. The other thing that is really cool here is the fact you can RENT lenses. Does everyone want a 1000mm lense? Perhaps on occasion, but do we have the cash to drop on a $2000-5000 lense? No.. These guys have a rent plan.. I didn't look into it but I thought that was nice for budding professionals. This is where I got for all of our cameras and high end developing. Prices are good and the service is well worth the extra drive. read more

Overall really good! I found my dads old Minolta film camera and brought it here to get new batteries and make sure it was working properly. I cant remember the names of the older man and woman who helped me, but they were both incredibly helpful. Though a bit intimidating at first because they clearly knew what they were doing, they were very patient with me and walked me through how to use my camera properly. They literally sat there with me and showed me how to insert/replace film, what settings I should use, and how to take pictures with it. They even pulled out an old used film canister to let me try it myself before I left the shop to get ensure I knew how to do everything correctly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for help with cameras, especially film cameras! read more

Hooper has become my "go to" place for any type of photographic services because they're fast and nice but most importantly - they do excellent work! In particular, Karen has gone above and beyond when I have emailed in photos to be turned into prints. She always makes sure I am happy which is easy, because she gets it right the first time. I'm not affiliated with Hooper in any way. I'm simply a satisfied customer. read more

I walked in with a hammered Sony camera to get fixed. He looks at me and says " This is gonna be like a 600+ dollar repair if I send this out.." Then proceeds to go and find anywhere who can maybe do it for cheaper before sending it out.. Does everything in his power to make sure I knew what I was getting into. Extremely willing to help and outgoing in finding me help elsewhere. Really appreciated. I then say okay never mind camera isn't worth it.. Ask him about other stuff gives me more recommendations etc.. Just an overall amazing experience for my first time walking in. I will be back read more

Love this place. A great selection of physical gear. Better than shopping online because you can actually see everything in the flesh and make a better buying decision. Used and been lenses. Please don't close!!!! read more

I had been so dismayed when Hooper Camera moved away from Chatsworth to Thousand Oaks. But when I went to their website, I found I could send them my digital photos that they could print in any size and type I wanted. I am an artist who uses photos for my paintings, so I need sharp and detailed photographs. I was thrilled with the results! Not only were they prompt with my order and mailed to me, but the photos are beautiful. Clear, sharp, good color and perfect for me to use. Thank you, Hooper Camera! I will be ordering more! read more

One of the last good camera stores. If you need film pictures processed - this is the place to go. If you have questions on how to work a camera the man that runs this store is so happily passionate about sharing information with you. I even brought in a friend with me who has never been in the store and didn't even buy anything. And this man was still so happy to help her understand how to use her film camera. I've also purchased a camera from him and he showed me how to set it up and everything before I left the store so I felt confident with my new purchase. They sell new and used items and it really brings an amazing variety to the store. I've brought in old pictures of my grandparents to be restored and they were so beautifully taken care of. I really can't say enough good things about this place. A rare gem in todays world. I will say some of the items can be on the pricier end. But you are %100 not only paying for the quality of their work for things like developing but I've also never found a place so eager to help everyone learn - no payment involved. So with that I'd say my money spent there is worth every penny. Without their help I woke one be developing pictures in the first place because I would've never understood how to use the camera in the first place. read more

Every experience I've had with Hooper camera has been top notch. Gary and his team go so far above and beyond... They set the bar high!
