I went the The Diamond Source today to see about selling some diamond jewelry. I had already bern warned by a couple sources that natural diamond resell values are extremely low due to the advent of lab grown diamonds. When I arrived, the saleswoman offered to clean the jewelry I planned to sell while I waited for the owner to finish his meeting. I thought that was nice. I met Nir, the owner, and found him to be very nice, extremely knowledgeable about diamonds, and quite fair in his offer. I bought an emerald ring with Diamond accents at an out of state jewelry store and took it to The Diamond Source for sizing. I am in my third trimester and my normal engagement/wedding rings don't fit since my hands have swelled. When I explained this to the women working that day they were very kind and let me know they would do their best but it would probably be a few weeks until they could finish it and wanted to be extra careful because emeralds don't take well to heat from sizing. I was fine with that and when I left I that day I misplaced my claim check card to pick up the ring. I called and they said they would remember me and not to worry. They definitely did remember me because they called less than two weeks later to let me know my ring was ready and it came out perfect. I really feel they went out of their way to make sure I had it well before my due date. They also took time out to show me their inventory and I was pleasantly surprised to see they have estate jewelry in addition to their normal selection. I'm a professional cellist who was scheduled to have carpal & cubital tunnel surgery this past Friday with a renowned Barrow surgeon. The surgeon got behind due to an unexpectedly serious surgery, and when he finally got to me (after waiting 5 hours, IV in and ready to go), he looked at the ring on my right hand and said, "That has to come off or we can't do the surgery. Your fingers will swell, and your ring will cut off your circulation." I said, "It doesn't come off. I've tried!" So the anesthesiologist, two nurses, and my cousin Don (who came with me to the hospital) stood round as the surgeon himself tried Windex, lotion, and even umbilical thread! Nope - it wouldn't budge, and someone said we'd have to cut it off. (By this time, it was 4P on the Friday before Memorial Day, and I was the last patient.) It has been several months since I've been in to this jeweller, but I've been meaning to write about what a positive experience I had. I wanted to sell a gently used gold diamong wedding ring and man's gold wedding band, and literally walked in because of a sign in the window. I recall Nir telling me they rely on word of mouth referrals and don't promote the fact that they buy jewelry. The store is immaculate, staff amazing and jewelry is gorgeous. I was immediately greeted by Kristi, and felt at ease with the process. Nir invited me to watch him at his desk as he evaluated my rings, and removed and assessed the diamond. Nir was kind and patient in explaining how rings are valued, and that I should't expect to get what I paid for them. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I received a check for much more than I expected to receive! As I'm walking out of the store, a beautiful white gold diamond ring caught my eye. Long story short, I tried it on, along with others, with Kristi's help, and decided to treat myself to a new ring. I still ended up with a check for the balance and a new gorgeous and unique ring. I had to go back in for more sizing, and learned more about the optional rhodium dipping process, recommended annually if you want to keep the sparkle. So far, my ring is wearing wonderfully, and I wear it every day! Both Kristi Allen and Nir Czopp are top-notch professionals, with very friendly styles that make you feel welcome and ease. My mother passed away a few months ago and while she was in the hospital she gave me her engagement ring and wedding ring that she was wearing. She passed two days later. Last month before Valentine's Day, I walked into Diamond Source to get a watch battery. While waiting I started to casually look at diamond rings. The owner, Nir, showed me some different styles and explained how different stones worked well with certain settings. He was very patient with no pressure to buy. Then, he said he had a special diamond in his office that I might like. He returned with a spectacular criss-cross diamond and a perfect setting for the diamond.
