OK-just like most of us we turn to YELP or search for a business that can solve our problem. Often we end up with dead ends but not in this case. ELENA of Art Fortune is an indispensable to us after we had a flood in our home. We had water damage on vintage art items from our travels and Art Fortune was the right call. Elena has been incredibly helpful and worked overtime to make sure that I got my appraisals done as quickly as possible.

Elena Kohn completely misrepresented herself. She claimed she would come out only would if my intention was to sell my items which I was, she took photos and did appraisals, at a huge price I might add. She claimed she would then help me sell the pieces, both paintings and jewelry. I paid for the appraisals, had to text her to get them. I was appalled at the poor quality of the appraisals. They are more resumes than appraisals. I took better pictures on my phone. NO photos of any certifications that I had with the paintings, only one photo per. The jewelry photos are so bad you can't identify the jewels. The jewelry was not weighed nor measured. Appraisals I've had in the past were very detailed. These are completely unacceptable but of course one has to pay before she starts. When she delivered the appraisals she basically said the opposite about helping sell them. "I'll text you a few places later." She did a day later but only for the paintings, which her company claims to deal with this particular artist for auctions. Nothing was given to help with the jewelry. I only hired this company because she claimed she would help thru the entire process. My advice, look elsewhere if you need appraisals or help selling any of your precious items. ALF April 2022 read more

I have actually sent a few people I know to Elena over the years and they have given me some great feedback on her work. My mother is in her mid 80s and Elena was extremely helpful with helping appraise some of her artwork and antiques and finding a buyer. My Mom is quite stubborn to say the least, but Elena had the right touch by being very knowledgable and diplomatic with her in the process. I highly recommend her services. read more

While Elaina was very nice and answered many questions from us, the rest of our experience was disappointing at best. With a collection of fine art that originally cost in the hundred-thousands of dollars, we paid thousands to have her appraisal services on this collection. Her fair market value seemed reasonable based on the cost of said collection. After paying several thousand dollars for her to put a small Appraisal Report together (mostly containing information about her experience) on each piece, we were under the expectation that she would be looking for art brokers, individuals etc. to sell this collection to. In fact, it was our understanding she would work hard to find buyers for some or all of the pieces and that is one of the reasons we chose her. We received only two calls from her over a few months (that we are aware of) that she was going to talk to two people and then never heard from her again. We decided that we needed to move our art, so opted to have an art dealer sell for us. We received roughly 15% (maybe 20% on some pieces) of what she had appraised them at fair market value. We do understand art can be very finicky, and market demand determines value. But we were very surprised to find out the value of the art was exceptionally less than she appraised it for. Again, our face to face experience was great. Elena is kind and polite, she seemed to be knowledgeable about some of the pieces we had. She had to take some time to look up a few things while we were together. We just would have appreciated a more accurate overview of what we had. read more
