Potato knish
Becky L.

Excellent little gem in Mequon. Stopped in and ordered right after a group. It gave me a chance to see everything get sliced and prepared. I ordered a pressed pastrami with sauteed onions and pickles though the pickles didn't make it on the sandwich. No biggie as the sandwich was served with a delicious spear on the side. It comes with your choice of coleslaw or potato salad and I opted for coleslaw. Excellent sized portions and all of the flavors melded well with each other. I also got a potato knish - they had turnover and bun style since they're trying out the recipes. I got the bun style - no regrets. It was flaky, hot perfection! I downed it inno time. I didn't finish my sandwich and had 1/2 the next day and it was even better. I can't wait to go back. Check it out if you're in the area. Be prepared to wait a little bit for a handmade quality lunch if you stop in, but remember that it's worth it!

A friend recently told me about The Deli on Crown after he brought some chocolate babka to an event I was at. I decided to check it out as soon as I could. I ordered chicken matzah ball soup, a pastrami sandwich on french bread with extra pastrami, a slice of chocolate babka, and a can of Dr. Brown's Root Beer. The broth for the soup could have been a little more flavorful and I sadly only found a couple slices of carrot in it, but the large pieces of chicken in the soup were appreciated. I didn't dislike it, but I don't know if I'd get it again based on the price. With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner and plenty of opportunities to have corned beef, I decided to go with pastrami for my sandwich. I liked being given the option of french bread because I'm not a fan of rye and I'm glad I ordered the extra meat because 4 oz for the normal amount seems a little skimpy. Overall I liked the sandwich. The chocolate babka is to die for. It's like a loaf of bread crossed with a cinnamon roll, but instead of cinnamon layered throughout it's a chocolately fudge-like thing. Absolutely the best. I had Dr. Brown's Root Beer for the first time a little over a year ago and have been struggling since to find a place locally that specifically sells root beer from that brand, not just their other flavors. I've tried many different kinds of root beer in my life and this is the best one of them all. I'm thankful I stopped and saw they had it.

This is a great new Kosher Deli, tucked away in the lower level of the Peltz Center of Jewish Life. There's no sign on Mequon Road, so you have to turn in to see the signs for its location. A bit of local marketing got me in the door. A friendly Rabi gifted me a loaf of challah bread one Friday afternoon, so I decided to give them a try. I visited and got a pound of pastrami. It was delicious, and I plan to stop in again; however, the hours are limited, so be sure to check before you go. Sadly, they did not sell the loaf of bread that got me interested in the store to begin with, but I plan to go back to sample the remainder of the menu.

This is a new little hidden gem in Mequon! Pros: Great menu options, nice employees, our sandwiches are very flavorful! Side options were great too, I enjoyed their potato salad. So much potential here and I hope they do well! Do yourself a favor and purchase a slice of the chocolate babka for after or the next morning - so so good!! Cons: bread was either dry or stale - kind of fell apart when eating. Perhaps the French roll option is better and I will try that next time. Also, menu says 6 ounces of freshly sliced meat. I didn't feel it was 6 ounces and definitely could have used more. Also - the prices were a little high ($35 for two sandwiches and 1 soda), but if they're corning and smoking their meats there, I have no problem paying for the work behind that. However, no mention of doing this in house. Would love to see this if they are. Lastly, there wasn't much of a vibe in the restaurant. No music or ambiance. It could have been more warm and welcoming with some music on. Overall, will definitely go back. The staff was very nice and the sandwiches were great!

Honestly, what is it with these Foxtown Restaurant? We had a horrible experience (both food And…read moreservice) at the Foxtown Brewery where we left with a handful of gift certificates from the new manager who was hired to make things better. We thought Renards would be better, as friends had good experiences. We arrived before our friends and were seated. Once the waitress found her pad and dug out her pen, she took our drink order. The hostess that greeted our friends, could not get the door open to let them into the restaurant, but called for help to do so. The waitress stopped to take their drink order. She returned a few minutes later to take the drink menus out of his hand and that was the last we saw of her. There wasn't a server to be seen, just two hard working cooks talking to the people at the bar. After twenty minutes, someone walked by and we asked about our drinks, she offered to find someone. A few minutes later bread was dropped at our table, that woman said she had no idea about our drinks. At that time we decided to cut our losses. On the phone with a restaurant that could seat us, a man came to us and said he heard there was a delay in receiving our drinks. We said yes but since no one seemed to be able to serve us, we're leaving. He just shook his head and walked away. A very unfortunate and disappointing experience.

We joined the mug club this year which was so worth it, and hope to host our rehearsal dinner here next year! The chef and owner have come by a couple times and really care about their customers. We were disappointed when they took the tacos off the regular menu but still love the Rueben, burgers, French onion soup, brisket nachos and fish fry. They recently downsized the cocktail menu which is fair since they have so many great beers!

We waited for a very long time just for a regular breakfast here. There was nothing special going on here. There were plenty of empty tables and no movement, no people being seated. This restaurant is understaffed. Our food came eventually and people had to wait for their coffee refills because they forgot. I was never asked how i wanted my eggs so i got sunny side up which i dont like. The sourdough bread was super hard i didnt even eat it. The turkey sausage is gross. I would take this off the menu. I prefer a frozen turkey sausage than whatever that was. The only thing i somewhat enjoyed was the mimosa. Would never recommend this place.

The calamari came out piping hot, and the panko breading added a fantastic crunch. The spicy mayo was the perfect accompaniment, giving it just the right amount of a kick. For dinner, we both enjoyed the fried shrimp platter. It came with plenty of jumbo-sized shrimp, French fries, and cocktail sauce. Just like the calamari, the shrimp had a wonderfully crispy breading, and everything was super good. We really enjoyed our meal! Service was excellent, too. The restaurant was fully staffed, and everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming. It's always a pleasure to enjoy good food with great service. Overall, we had a fantastic dinner at St. Paul's Fish Market. I'd happily come back again!

Our server was attentive. I ordered the blackened salmon sandwich; one friend ordered the grouper cheeks tacos, and another friend ordered the lobster bisque soup and cajun barbecue shrimp. Overall it was a tasty and filling sandwich; you can see the portion size from the photo. I ordered the fries as the side option - nothing to write home about those, but they were slightly crispy. My friend enjoyed her grouper cheek tacos but did not care at all for her fries, which were soft and soggier than mine and she ended up leaving them uneaten on her plate. Grouper cheeks (we asked about them) are the actual cheek portion of the grouper fish, which apparently is a large fish. My other friend enjoyed her lobster bisque and the shrimp appetizer. I dipped one french fry in the shrimp sauce and it was yummy. I'd return to try that appetizer. We had a lovely lunch and overall enjoyed the food.

Their menu consists largely of Mac & Cheese, wraps, paninis and frozen custard. Being a Wisconsinite it really resonates with me. I get the classic "original" mac and cheese every time. It's always consistently good and it's still warm after my 20 minute drive home. They use a less common noodle that is quite large and the portion is generous too. The other menu item I'm always to is the shake of the week. They always have a different one and they're always good. Oh, and I have to mention their salads. Not for me, but my mother likes them as much a salad she gets anywhere else. Another thing I appreciate is the fact they have an app. An app for a local place isn't common in my experience. This makes it easy to order in advance so you can skip the line, skip the phone call and better still earn rewards. Finally, I have to commend a few of the guys who work here. Two gentlemen in particular who both are always pleasant and personable, which alone is commendable, but they've also both been there a few years. They both seem to be managers, but I'm not sure, though I wanted to recognize them. Both are older than the general staff and both are there various weekdays.
