There's a small but lovely deck with picnic tables that look down over Hubbards Cove. The parking lot is small, but it's easy to park along the road here. The staff are really nice; there's a big box of toys for kids, and they're going to try to stay open year-round (I heard mulled cider is planned). They have two comfortable couches, a couple of a cute tables and some outdoor seating which has a gorgeous view. I Iove the adorable folk art all over the cafe, particularly the cat coasters. The lady who runs/owns the place, is very friendly, and seems to know where, and what everything is. It's amazing, if i am looking for a specific book, she will know if she has it, had it, and if not, she will take you info and try to find it/them for you! Just amazing customer service. I almost always walk out with a few books, but more importantly I always walk in with some to give back. Dave gave us information about: the lifecycle of a lobster, how to determine the sex of a lobster, how there is one large cracking claw and a slightly smaller grabber claw, the general ages based on size, putting a lobster to sleep, how lobsters are caught in a trap, how to put a rubber band around the claws, ... yep a whole bunch of information on the "lobsta". To top the information provided, Dave brought out various sizes ranging from a pound to bigger than 2.5 pounds. He said he has seen an eight pounder... As for eating, they used to cook up the lobsters on site but that was shut down by complaints from Halifax and local seafood restaurants. They do ship by FedEx worldwide.
