(NOTE: He has since retired.) Whenever he has out-of-towners coming through, he always takes them to Fort Hood and never fails to make a stop at this museum. As many times as I've visited, I seem to get more and more educated about this Division. Displayed outside are different types of military transportation - land and air, both foreign and domestic. If you have some time to look around, I suggest reading up on the relics. The museum structure/building doesn't look like anything bangin' from the outside, but it's quite surprising how much articles and artifacts there are inside. Walking through and doing a bit of reading will inform you on the various steps its taken to transition from how it began to where they currently are. I still find it interesting. Admission is free, but you have the option of making a donation, if you so choose. A must-visit if you ever find yourself inside the base.

It does such a great job of bringing local history to life in a way that's interesting, engaging, and enjoyable to experience. The exhibits were well done, thoughtfully curated, and give you a real appreciation for Williamson County's beginnings. The museum is welcoming, educational, and perfect for all ages...as a visitor I found it interesting to understand Williamson County's history. It's a great stop if you enjoy history or want to learn more about the community you're are visiting. Highly recommend checking it out and supporting this local museum. As people who are newer to the area we were able to learn a lot of information about the past of the area. The man working there had extra stories for us and recommended other historical places in the community to visit. There is nothing that is sexual or outlandish in the exhibits, just true history, perfectly digestible for children. Many of the exhibits are interactive with additional sounds, videos, or items to lift and read under. We found it by exploring the square, but they do offer scheduled tours. Free to visit, but please consider donating or purchasing something that they have on sale in their gift shop to support them!

We were so generously gifted a family membership for Christmas by our family friends and it was perfect! The STEAM hands on learning and activities really engages children of all ages. My 7 year old and 4 year old enjoy it here. My 6 month old will get into it soon enough. No food or drinks inside the museum. The water zone is nice that it has smocks and crocs for kids to wear and change into to avoid getting wet and slipping. There is also an outdoor playscape and water tables to get into. I am so grateful they have a comfort nursing room for moms to have a private blocked off area to feed babies! It's much appreciated

They charge $120/year for 5 passes each visit. The Thinkery charges $160/year for 3 passes each visit. My toddler loves the bloom section. The bloom section is always clean and sanitized. None of the vending machines were working in the dining area. I could have sworn they used to have people selling food a decade ago. The Thinkery is great for Austin, but pales in comparison to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis which is five stories and 7.5 acres.

History is not just about what is displayed, but also what is absent. During my visit, another guest mentioned that a prior exhibit featuring Black culture from that historical period had been present in 2024 but was no longer there. I cannot independently confirm this, but it certainly sparked important thoughts about how historical narratives are curated and evolve over time especially in light of the current political climate. As a PhD student in public administration and policy, I view spaces like this as starting points for deeper inquiry rather than definitive accounts. Despite any perceived gaps, the museum offers an engaging and visually impressive exploration of Texas history that is well worth visiting. I left with plenty to think about and even more to research on my own.

It's an important museum that houses millions of photos, videos, documents, etc. with regard to the Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam War, LBJ's presidency, and so on. There are exhibits displaying information on Medicare and its beginnings. The Oval Office replica is pretty cool to see. So many things to check out including, you guessed it, a gift shop! When we arrived and paid our admission fee, we immediately were met with 2 hosts that kind of went over and explained everything you would be seeing. The funniest part is when an elderly white lady tried to explain to me their new traveling exhibit. It was a hip hop exhibit and she was explaining how interesting it was. She was like 70 and I am sure she is bumping Biggie and 2 Pac on her way to work. The 1st floor was just the presidential Limo, some campaign exhibits, a gift shop and the hip hop exhibit. When I think about LBJ, I am pretty sure Hip Hop is far from the top of the list of things associated with him. However, as a kid from the hip hop generation it was cool to see Run DMC's Adidas, Slick Rick's Kangol and other artists out fits. The 10th floor (I think it was the 10th) had a replica Oval Office, lots of gifts given to LBJ during his presidency and other exhibits as well. I enjoy going to the different Presidential Libraries and Museums and this one is pretty nice but nothing that will wow you.

Even if you're not that into history, it's pretty cool to see. Great for kids and adults alike, and there are some interactive things too. If you can only pick one day to go, visit on one of their Living History weekends where they have a live reenactment of one of the wars with real tanks firing blank rounds. It's actually VERY cool, no matter how you feel about war itself. Wear earplugs because it can get loud!

It was a great time had by myself and them, the admission price was $7.00 for all three of us to go into the museum. For the boys the associate in the gift shop gave them a scavanger hunt to do while we visited the museum upstairs. I loved the idea so it made them look all over at things to find the little white squares with the symbols on them. Took the boys 2 times through the museum to find them all. After that we then walked through and looked at things and then explained it to them. We all loved the museum. Highly recommend taking the children there for a visit, get them out into the fresh air.
