OK, let's start with the fact that I routinely tend to rate restaurants that I think are outstanding, and can use a little love to get their footing and be helped on the way to success. In other words, majority of my reviews are highly favorable. This review is not highly favorable. The food was fine. The burgers were good, and the fries were excellent. The old-fashioned's we ordered with our meal were solid as well. The reason I am giving such a low review, is the honor and integrity of the gentleman working behind the bar at 6:30 on Friday, February 13. When we asked if there were any happy hour specials, he told us there was an unadvertised $7 burger. He did point out in the menu that if we were to add condiments, they would be roughly $.20 apiece. Sounded fine. I didn't calculate how many condiments we added, because I knew it would be a minimal additional cost. When we received the bill, it was $17 for each burger and another $4 each for the fries. That means each burger was $14 more in total than what he told us the price was going to be. He then proceeded, condescendingly, to explain to my wife and I how we didn't understand his original guidance. We understood just fine; he was making a few extra dollars on the sale by not being upfront. His explanation was that the menu was changing, which is why these prices had to be told to us verbally. There was no misunderstanding. It was a used car salesman approach on hidden costs, over a hamburger. The entire point of going to a restaurant for customers is to feel satisfied with their food, and experience, not to trick them into feeling like they misunderstood simple guidance on ordering food and now paying twice as much. The larger purpose of a restaurant for the vendor is to bring back return business. Businesses succeed when people return, and more importantly, bring other people into the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In summary, this was a wasted opportunity for the restaurant as the food was good and the decor inside is immaculate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But, it is essential that a place of business makes customers feel respected and has employees capable of treating patrons as intelligent customers who deserve a hassle free evening out, without hidden costs not advertised on a menu. read more

I was attending a show at the Akron Civic Theater on a Friday night. Not being from the area, by the time I found the theater and parking I had less than an hour before the show started. At first we stopped in a chain restaurant for dinner and it was packed. We walked down the street to The Daily Pressed. It looked inviting so we went in. We explained our poor planing and asked if they'd be able to accommodate our schedule. The worker was very kind and suggested we stick to salads or sandwiches since those can be made more quickly. We enjoyed our selections and made it to the show on time. I would visit again if I were in the area. read more

Google hours for Sunday's INCORRECT. Drove 20 minutes out of our way bc the coffee and sandwiches looked good, only to arrive to a closed establishment. Incredibly frustrating. Please update your hours so others aren't wasting their time. Reply to owner: that is unfortunate. Based on other reviews, It does seem like others have run into the same issue we had yesterday. Hopefully you are able to figure out how to mitigate those types of problems because surely they have a negative effect on business. We headed here because we wanted a good coffee and a hot panini style sandwich. Twisted Tomato is a great place, but not what we wanted. This place is great! I can't speak to their evenings, but my sister and I went here for brunch on Sunday around noon and had a lovely experience. The service was phenomenal and the food was hot and delicious. You order at the counter and they bring your food and drinks out to your table. Coffee was plentiful and quite good as well (it is serve yourself so the refills are unlimited when eating in). I had my coffee black and it did not disappoint. My sister tried their specialty latte "The Daily" and really enjoyed it too. My Light and Fit sandwich was packed with veggies between two slices of delicious multigrain bread and my sister really enjoyed her build your own omelet and potatoes. Don't sleep on the hot sauce either! I asked for some and was informed that it was house made and you can definitely tell. The flavor was excellent...smoky and just the right amount of spice. I liked it so much I asked if they sold it and unfortunately they do not as of now but I would buy bottles if they did. My friend found a huge piece of plastic in her sandwich this morning. She told the waitress who suggested that she order something else. My friend ordered a burger. It arrived black and dry. This was brought to the "chefs" attention, who showed no compassion about either of the incidents! My friend ask for a refund, (the bill is expected to be paid after ordering), to which the chef, (and owner of the restaurant), replied "I will not give you a refund"! He said "we use a thermometer during cooking and it does not lie about the temperature of the meat"! To avoid any further arguments, we left the restaurant. We will not return. read more

Deserves no stars. Everything started off great, was even going to give the (manager)(owner) a tip for good customer service and was going to be a returning customer, however I ordered a Caesar salad while on my lunch break and decided to dine in. I let the owner know that I was getting attacked by nats & it was a Nat in food so which I couldn't finish. This man didn't try to accommodate me or even look at the dish. He said " I can't control the air" "I'm not playing this game with you" & TOOK my phone which is Illegal. He took my phone, due to him feeling like I would walk out without paying. I never intended to walk out, I wanted an accommodation for not being able to FINISH my food. This man was racially profiling me being I'm a black women and so which I would walk out!!?? His attitude went from nice to very rude after I complained about my food. I will NEVER come back and I could've brought more business to his establishment. Really disappointed in how I was treated. This is a fairly new location that I stumbled upon. The interior aesthetic is phenomenal. During the day it's a coffee shop, and in the evening it transforms into a causal bar vibe. The service is also a 10/10. As many of you who read my post know, I am vegetarian. The worker allowed me to substitute options to make it vegetarian with no charge (not many places let you do that). I ended up getting the pressed panini. The bread was super soft and it went well with the mushroom and mozzarella cheese. I highly recommend it (vegetarian or not). I also got a coffee, since I was getting work done. The black coffee has free refills for the day and it's actually really good. It's only the only location in Akron that serves coffee til late. I have yet to experience it during the evening, but I've heard good things about their bar menu from couple of friends (will be coming back during the evening). Overall, I highly recommend this place for dates, study sessions, and just for a good time. read more

Just stumbled across this place last week, it was a first of many visits to come!!! Its a quaint aesthetically charming hidden gem in downtown Akron that is a coffee bar in the day and a fun great evening place for entertainment and superb cocktails!! I have only had the flatbread so far but it is to die for, best ever! The service and staff was top notch as well! The Halloween pop up decor is classy and fun, can't wait to see what they do for Christmas!! Definitely worth checking out, it will not disappoint!! read more
