    The Chamber
    Lisa P.

I am that crazy friend thats willing to try a lot of different things and drag you along. This CryoBar experience rocks! Of course its cold, it's supposed to be. To top it off, you're naked! Well they do provide you with a pair of tube socks and mittens. The experience is only three minutes, five is the maximum. I was there with a Chicago Marathon runner, I laughed a little inside watching her jump around. When she didn't finish her three minutes, I got nervous. I entered the chamber like a champ! Although, I wear a good poker face that is the COLDEST I have ever felt in my life. I stood there like a statue until my time was up. They have really nice plush robes for you and your body starts to warm up immediately. I have had four different sessions. I even tried the cryo facial and it was amazing. The great benefits of cryo is that it relieves inflammation, swelling and pain. Who doesn't want that.

She did a great job focusing on my problem areas and targeted the cryo to really maximize the experience.

If you want to see results on your skin, there is absolutely no one else to go to but Amy. I've…read morenever had a more professional and knowledgeable esthetician than Amy. She starts the experience before you even walk through the door by asking about your skin, your health background, allergies, etc... and really uses all of that information to tailor a facial that is right for you and your skin type. I've always had bad acne/flare ups that had left my face in a constant state of redness. Through a few sessions with Amy, I can tell she has repaired my skin and the redness is gradually fading away to reveal a really clear complexion. The price may seem high, but she spends several hours with her clients... don't even bother with going to one of the hotel spas, those are never results oriented. She follows up for days after the facial as well to really understand how your skin reacts and takes the treatments. Plus, she treats the decolletage area as well! Of course, she ends the experience with an amazing hand/shoulder/head massage. I can't say enough amazing things about Amy, but maybe one of the only facial specialists in the area that really knows what she is doing!

I've been to dermatologists, other laser spas, and Amy is the first person who is taking a holistic approach. She has been so amazing with her time, looking at all of the supplements I'm taking, asking about the food I'm eating, looking at all of the topicals the derm put me on and all of the other skincare products I was using. She has made recommendations on all of the above, including changes she thinks I need to make. I can tell it's all making a difference, and my skin feels so much better now that I'm using the products she has recommended and have gotten off the harsh topicals my derm prescribed that weren't working and were only making my skin itchy, dry, and still not cleared up. Bonus the products she has are clean and EU certified so I feel really good using them. My skin is feeling so much healthier. I've had one Aerolase Neo Elite laser treatment so far and it was a great experience. Amy really took her time working on my face, it was like night and day from the past laser experiences I had. Amy is so committed to helping me achieve my goals and clear my skin. For the first time I feel hope and I know it's because I have the help of the best skin guru in all of Chicago! If you are having troubles with your skin I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to Amy, she is the best!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Pure Medical Spa was extremely disappointing…read more I had a Signature Hydrafacial scheduled for 6:00 p.m. When I arrived, the receptionist informed me that the Hydrafacial machine was malfunctioning and that my appointment would be delayed by about 25 minutes. While it wasn't ideal, I understood that technical issues can happen and agreed to wait. Unfortunately, the 25-minute delay turned into a full hour. What made the experience even more frustrating was that, while I was still waiting, the next client for a Hydrafacial had already arrived. When I was finally taken back, the treatment felt rushed because another customer was waiting. The Signature Hydrafacial is advertised as a 45-minute treatment, but mine lasted only about 30 minutes. After waiting an hour past my appointment time, I expected to receive the full service I had booked--not a shortened version. I paid for a 45-minute treatment but did not receive one. I understand that unexpected issues happen, but what matters is how a business handles them. I would have appreciated honest communication, the full treatment, or some effort to make up for the inconvenience. Instead, I left feeling like my time didn't matter. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend Pure Medical Spa.

The treatment was refreshing, thorough, and precise. My skin felt deeply cleansed, hydrated, and noticeably smoother right after. I had a really disappointing experience at Heavenly Massage. There was nothing "heavenly" about it…read more I booked what was advertised as a 90 minute massage, but the fine print shows it is actually closer to 80 minutes, with 10 minutes meant for changing. On top of that, my session started late, so the massage itself was only about 75 minutes. When I brought this up to the front desk, the response was dismissive. I was told "maybe the clock is broken," with no apology or effort to fix the situation. The overall experience felt unprofessional. The linens had a noticeable mildew smell, which made me uncomfortable right away. The massage itself was disorganized and at times painful in a concerning way, not therapeutic pressure but pressing directly on bones. I had booked a deep tissue massage, but no area was worked on long enough to actually release tension. It felt like random, surface level movements rather than intentional work, and it didn't provide any relief. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this did not meet basic expectations for professionalism or quality. I would not return or recommend.

You can find pretty much any equipment here -- punching bags, sleds, reformer machines, etc. There is a good mix of group fitness classes here included in the membership price. Equinox has a reputation for being fancy -- thus the high price of this gym. However, I don't think this *particular* location really warrants the high price. This location isn't as flashy and new as comparably-priced gyms (like the Lincoln Common Equinox or the Midtown Athletic Club). It also lacks the extensive amenities of a place like East Bank Club (which has tennis courts, kayaking, basketball, etc). A membership at this location will give you access to some of Equinox's newer, fancier facilities (like Lincoln Common) as well as some of its convenient locations for office workers (Loop branch). If you live in Old Town / southern Lincoln Park and want a gym that's close-by this is probably the best option in the neighborhood.

I posted the above review a couple of years ago and the same equipment, ratty orange wall covering, stained floors... still the same. They continue to send surveys and give promises a big remodel is happening. And we just got a notice they are increasing monthly membership. In the notice they have the audacity to discuss investments when zero have occurred at this facility. I am still there for the 2 minute walk from my home but please new and prospective new members know that their assurances of new equipment and remodel is highly unlikely. Facility A/C was down for nearly two weeks and they kindly offered access to other locations, no small %off our monthly membership fee. Also, you mat freeze your membership with a $50 / month fee.

There is a clock in the room and my massage therapist came in five minutes after the hour and left 10 minutes before the hour. This is really a 45 minute massage advertised as a 1 hour massage. I did not like the vibe here. It had a dated feel. There were no other customers here. Surprising for such a large space. My therapist was kinda snarky. The worst part was SHE WORE GLOVES. Not only did it not make the massage feel as good but I could hear the sound of the gloves when she massaged me. The room also had weird music that was hard to hear because of the loud blower in the room. The pillow used to put under my legs was severely worn and the sheets and blanket were old too. When I flipped over she said the dimmer on the lights wasn't working so she put a piece of light colored cloth over my eyes that kept falling off. After the massage she said I would of been better off with a 90 minute. I don't think so. 45 minutes was more than enough. I thought about ending the massage at the beginning but decided to just go with it. When I checked out to pay their credit card machine wasn't working so she had to punch the number in manually.
