We came here on Father's Day. I made reservations but there were still available tables. It has a nice patio and open concept. The food was actually good for bar food. We got the kids chicken fingers and fries- it's big portion wise, crispy chicken Caesar wrap- great taste and chicken club sandwich- great taste as well but the bacon was a bit too over done. Fries were good overall as well. The sauce that was included with the chicken fingers were not good- not sure what it was. But my major complaint was the service- we had to wait so long for anyone to even come by with water then again super long wait to even order. We were starving, the whole process of ordering and getting our food took an hour even though it wasn't really busy and it was bar food. Be prepared to wait! read more

Had my step dad's surprise 60th here and had an amazing time. The rooms flowed well and were set up in a way that made it clear what sections were designated for what without it being clunky. The staff was hilarious, courteous, and fast. And I mean fast. We ordered several platters of food for our 80 or so guests, and let's just say the sliders, mini pulled pork sandwiches, and make your own poutine options were taken the fastest. The wings were crisp and delicious and kept flowing. The pool tables were always full with people who put my talents to shame and others just having a good time. Came here last night for a few drinks and some appetizers, and loved the atmosphere here! A large establishment that welcomed all ages, there's something for everyone whether you're here to sit around a large table to chat with friends, watch the game, or play ping pong/pool. The place offers both pub food and an actual lunch/dinner menu, so lots of options to choose from! The calamari was nice and crispy with really good tzatziki sauce, but the nachos were next level. So much cheese was piled on there with guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and jalapeños on the side. It was amazing, we enjoyed every bite. Great place to hang out for a few drinks and some snacks!! Nicely designed rooftop sports bar with big screens to watch those major sports events on a warm summer night with your friends and celebrate your favorite team's big win! ...if it wasn't for the horrible staff, who will do their best to ensure that you won't have a pleasant stay! You will feel like you're disturbing them when they play constantly with their phones and show their favorite TikToks to each other. They also haven't been trained how to operate the TVs, so will have to listen to mediocre 90s pop music instead of the game sound, even if every single customer came to watch the sports event. I love billiards. I really really love billiards. my company decided to come here for Christmas/holiday party last year and it was a really great experience. we had our own section of the restaurant to ourselves complete with personal bathrooms and we were treated really, really well. the food was absolutely phoenominal for a buffet spread, and I feel personally that us having this section of the place, something was available for everyone. many billiard tables, ping pong, multiple TV's a couple of fireplaces and tons of seating and different styles of seating. from a billiard perspective, the tables are in very good shape and maintained well, I played on three tables that night and all of them were solid, the carpet on the table tops were not damaged, and just super clean. I would highly recommend coming here, either in a party setting or otherwise. parking is available on the street and in multiple municipal lots. transit options are the islington or royal York subway station (line #2), and busess from the north islington 37 & 50, from the south islington 110, from the royal York side you have the 73 and 48 from the north and the 76 & 15 from the south all busses would be with a bit of a walk to this fine establishment. can't wait to come back. great tables great staff great food! read more

I don't have a lot to say about this pool hall as I was here for a birthday party and was socializing most of the time and not playing pool. This venue lent itself perfectly for this type of occasion. The food was fantastic and the service was great. I did heard my husband make a comment that he'd played on better tables but all-in-all we had a great time here. The hall is close to the subway which made it easy to get to... probably easier than trying to find parking around there. I would definitely recommend this place for booking a party, you won't be disappointed. A great night out on a beautiful Tuesday in November. The Cue has a more upscale decor than most pubs I frequent which is why I am so happy when I go. I always feel like I am going out on a date night., The food is yummy too. We love the dry Cajun wings and the nachos. Tonight, for a change I opted for the Swiss mushroom burger with a side salad. Wine is a little better too if you're not a beer drinker. And in light of the times the rooftop was open so we could feel the breeze. If we were to get chilly we had our own personal heater. As far as a "pool hall" social hang-out I don't think it gets better than Crooked Cue in Etobicoke. The place is clean, the tables are 'newer', and they even have ping pong tables. They have lots of room and the main bar area has a huge skylight over long community tables. Located on Bloor at Royal York, the upper location spans across a few retail stores below. Next to the main area there is anotehr room with many more tables that I assume they use for larger groups or private events. parking on the street seemed to be readily available (even on a Friday night). The service was friendly, pub food was above average and there are lots of TV's to watch any current sporting events. It also seems to be a great place for large groups with one really long table for about 30 people near the front. The nachos, burgers and appetizers were all good and they have a decent selection of beer. They even stopped the table timer when we took a break to eat our meal (which was unexpected). Overall it as a great experience...at least if you're interest in playing pool. I think it would be a decent place for socializing, having a few drinks and a good meal, however my rating is based on this being a pool, gastropub type of operation. read more

How have I not been here more often!? Went last Friday with a friend for some ping pong and pool and this place was packed! Great to see so much life in an otherwise sleepy area. Pool is $20/hr and Ping Pong is $25/hr. Great selection of beers and staff was attentive at the games checking in regularly for drinks. Terrible! So very disappointed! Food tasting less then mediocre, and presentation has gone down hill with terrible portions! Staff needs updating and training including the management! Food allergy reaction! Even with food being labeled as GF! They are not at all! All food is contaminated with soy, gluten or wheat! Nothing is monitored or observed. The deep fryers are not maintained or treated safely. Anything goes. Even with the GF options on the menu! They serve a person with allergies gluten and wheat!!! All wing sauces are not safe and we're only mentioned and checked properly after consumption and reaction! After being rejected fries with gravy due to possible contamination, hot wings due to the hot sauce having soy, thr honey garlic sauce having wheat, the caeser salad which is labelled GF the croutons are not GF and we're not substituted, when requested half a toasted GF bun on the side to sub- was rejected! Claiming the kitchen was busy! (Mind you the bar was half filled) The very few options which should be gluten friendly are actually not. When finally settling for wings with honey garlic sauce, half way through i started to second guess the sauce, and had the server double check... guess what!?!? The sauce has WHEAT IN IT!!! Long story short, after a lame apology from the manager, and taking of my wings and our friends which does nothing for me or my health...I sent back all my food and requested they take it off, since I felt sick and was no longer able to eat, my barely touched salad was still charged to the bill and had to be argued to have it removed... If you have GF (gluten friendly)food on the menu then cater to it properly! TRAIN YOUR SERVERS, train your KITCHEN! Have proper compensation! Food cannot make contact! And cannot share fryers with breaded items... The only reason I left any stars for this place is because it's nice looking and we generally liked the atmosphere! But the food quality and their soggy salad was more then just disappointing!!! The owners daughter tried accommodating in the beginning and later in the evening just seemed annoyed along with the servers and no longer seemed to care! When a regular well paying client is unhappy and had a food reaction, no matter the severity mild Or severe, you'd expect a little more then 'well what do you want us to do!?' We should not have had to argue and negotiate uneaten food to be removed. The new menu is worse then before. The bar is crowded by a bunch of teens and no longer holds up to par or accommodates their clientele. THIS HAS TURNED INTO AN OVERPRICED POOL HALL WITH BAD FOOD AND BAD SERVICE. I got a bowel infection after eating at this place Friday August 5th, 2022. If I can give -5 stars to this place I will. Now I am dealing with bleeding, cramps and diarrhea. I now have to take antibiotics to deal with this infection. And the cause of all of this is hygiene and quality of food: someone touched my food without washing their hands after they used the washroom, or the meat in my steak sandwich was contaminated, and since I asked for medium well steak, the bacteria in the meat was still there. This is a serious risk for clients and this place should be inspected. read more

3.5* The Crooked Cue is a beautiful bar! On the second floor on Bloor St W, this newly renovated spot has a retractable roof making it a hot spot for the summer. I went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and they had live music which was lovely and the roof open. It was a great atmosphere, and I don't know how but the roof opening/closing is completely SILENT. I had the Souvlaki dinner, and sadly I was less than impressed. The souvlaki was terribly dry and no amount of tzatziki sauce could salvage them. The rice and Greek salad that came with it were fine, but I was disappointed. I can't say the same for the others in my party though - the salad with shrimp and avocado looked incredible and they even remove the shrimp tails! The ribs appetizer was enough for a meal. The spinach salad with salmon was massive and I was jealous of everyone else's meals...haha. Pool was $20/hr and ping pong was $25/hr...no idea why ping pong would be more but I wouldn't play it anyway. To sum up: great atmosphere and ambiance...just don't order the souvlaki :) read more

Gave this place another try today and wish I hadn't. Wanted a quick bite and a couple beers so I walked upstairs to the "hostess" stand. Asked if the "new side" was open and was met with an unconvincing "no, I don't know" by the young "hostess" with zero greeting or smile(for the record, there were guests sitting at the bar in the new section having drinks. Walked into the main room and sat myself at a table by the window in a 1/4 full room. As soon as I settled in, the same "disgruntled" hostess walked up and asked how many were in my party, without explanation as to why, and then walked away. At this point, remembering past experiences here, I walked out and spent my $70 at another establishment down the street. Last time I will darken those doors. Very pleased with the renovations I moved into the area with my boyfriend who is an Etobicoke native, where as I am a Downtown/Liberty Village girl. He had been going to Crooked Cue since he was young to play pool with his Dad. When we first moved into the area it seemed like the only option if we wanted to stay close and play pool. It certainly seemed dated, but no complaints otherwise. We went last week to play pool and hadn't even realized they finished their renos. We were really taken by the transformation. The retracting roof is awesome, the bar is beautiful and the drink specials are well thought out. I am so happy to have a place to bring family and friends when they visit me, as opposed to making excuses to meet them downtown. My only qualm is the price. Before, and now after renos it is still painful to look at your bill at the end of the night. There should be more nights, or even afternoons with specials either for pool and food, or food and beer. I don't think I've ever managed to walk out paying less than 100$. Also to no fault of theirs I'm sure.. Real problem with fruit flies. My boyfriend went to the washroom and came back to 3 flies swimming in his beer. Not sure that's something they can combat, but worth noting read more

Nothing too special or extravagant that I need to tell you about it. Thing that made me give 4 instead of 5 was that the service was not speedy. Been here a few times already, and I greatly enjoyed my experience playing pool. All the female servers are gorgeous and hospitable ;) This pool hall/bar has also just recently renovated with an open sun roof area which gives you a breath of fresh air and a glimpse of the outside world in case you forgot what it looked like after drinking booze and playing billiards for a while. If I could give this place a zero star, I would. Place is not accommodating at all. We were here for a sporting event and told the staff if we could move closer to the TV as we had a friend that was visually impaired. Clearly there is room but she would not accommodate. Paid for our 1st round of beer and left. I understand they are busy and is probably getting a lot of customer putting in requests for seating. But I feel at least they should be a bit accommodating given the situation. Anyways. Not worth the effort and left. They definitely need some AODA training for the staff. read more

If I could give this place a zero, I would. I'm not picky when it comes to restaurants, but like anyone else I just want to be respected when I go out. But when I saw the menu, I was just shock. Being a restaurant owner myself, I know the cost of food and to see their prices as high as they are, its just a rip-off. I suppose it has a trendy vibe to it, but I won't be going back until their prices come down to reality. A burger for example is almost $16, where I KNOW it shouldn't be more than $10-11. Anyhow, if you want to get ripped off, go visit the cue. If you care about your hard earned dollars, then go elsewhere. Apparently this place was more akin to a dive bar meets pool hall, but then this year invested some proper money into renovating the place and while I don't have to experience to compare the results, I have to say they've done well with it. The place has a lovely glass ceiling, and an interior of mostly brick and beam with classy wood tables. We brought a group here and everyone was impressed by it. Food wise, nothing was mind blowing but nothing disappointed either. It was a pretty broad menu with reasonable prices and something for everyone whether meat lover or vegetarian. Beer menu on their website was better than in person, as their taps were more focused on European brands or brands like Mill Street and Granville Island Brewing which give the illusion of craft beer despite actually being owned by major labels, with the exception of Great Lakes Brewing - but that was a pumpkin spice beer. Some proper craft focus would have really impressed me but thats the beer snob in me talking and I don't think anyone else complained or noticed this. Aside from the food and drinks, the main reason most probably come here is for the billiards and ping pong. $20 an hour for pool, $25 an hour for ping pong. The tables are all well maintained and top quality. While I don't think the Royal York neighbourhood is an actual destination location, I will say that if you're local, this place is a pretty good place. First of all: the pictures on the website are incredibly outdated. My boyfriend suggested we go here at first, but when I googled it, I exclaimed that I didn't feel like watching the Jays' home opener in a "dumpy ass place". Imagine my surprise at the nice newly-renovated pics on Yelp! It's a gorgeous space now. We live in the area, and I think this is our new go-to bar. We got a comfy spot in front of a giant TV to watch the Jays game, and our food/drinks were great. The salmon salad came with a huge piece of fresh, healthy tasting salmon filet. It was just what I wanted. The one wrinkle was that I wanted to swap something out of my salad for avocado instead (which came with the grilled shrimp salad but I wanted salmon, and not shrimp). The server told me they didn't do "those kinds of substitutions" but would check anyway. He came back, and affirmed that they couldn't put avocado on my salad unless they charged an extra $2.00. Kind of annoying. I get that if you're Terroni you can have a "no substitutions" policy but in this case, how about changing that policy? The server really made an effort though, and said he'd bring over some guacamole instead. That was much appreciated :) The hourly rentals to use the pool and ping pong tables are pretty pricey ($25/hour) but it is a really nice space now, with nice, clean washrooms (important!), comfy seats, and lots of TVs. I wasn't partaking in the food this time but Friday night the kitchen was hopping and families were enjoying themselves the sunroof is a super addition. For an old smoking venue these guys turned it around and you have to climb to get in the joint. Although I think the descent is sometimes the more difficult venture. I'm a regular here. The food is awesome! I had an entree salad that came in a tortilla bowl and it was just so delicious. Drinks are yummy and they actually have steins of beer lol. I'm never usually the one paying so I can't offer a fair review of the cost (since I don't really know) however everyone else seems to find that going for a few rounds of pool can get pretty expensive.
