Hoop’s Sports Bar & Grill - 3lbs. 3 Flavours. Really good wings!

Hoop’s Sports Bar & Grill

Taking over the location of the now (sadly) closed Smoke BBQ joint, Hoops Is now open in Vaughan…read more This area could definitely use a sports bar, as Buffalo Wild Wing across the street is the only place to really watch the game and have a pint, so it makes sense. I've been to the Hoops downtown Toronto many times, but only because its closest place to get a beer during Fan Expo. The food was average at best so I didnt have high hopes for this location. We wandered in on a Friday night, and boy has it changed since The Smoke was there. There are tv's EVERYWHERE, which is pretty awesome. The place is pretty ugly though. Yeesh. Talk about drab. The staff are all very young and inexperienced, but very nice and accommodating, and got our orders perfectly. This place just opened so I'm sure it wont take long for them to feel more natural and at ease. The bar was impressive and has a great selection of liquors. This place will be perfect for anyone coming just to watch and game and have a drink. Cuz the food is not great. I ordered the special of the day, steak fajitas. They were awful. Steak was overcooked and bitter. Hard to bite through. The veggies were slimy. Yuck. My wife's chilli nachos were pretty good! Fyi there is no kid's menu, so we got our kid chicken fingers and fries. The fries were decent. The chicken fingers were bland but were cooked well and had an awesome crisp to them. But yeah bland chicken fingers. It was also drafty in there. Chilly. Not cozy. They did have a DJ there playing who was good, music gave a good vibe to the place for a Friday night. In the end this place feels like a pub from 15 years ago, when this kind of food was expected from a pub, before all the chain pubs stepped up their food game. Stick to the booze and enjoy the game, and you'll like this place. And hey the fries are good.

The chicken wings were real good. Friendly staff and good service. This place has the potential to become a great place to watch a game.

St. Louis Bar & Grill - This was a very good burger platter, on special that evening, that was apparently cooked medium well as requested.

This location had A LOT going on…read more Many drunk single dudes sitting with pitchers alone trying to talk to you while you eat. The servers were friendly and I understand they have to entertain it to earn their living but I should not have to be harassed in the process. Our server forgot items and did not punch them in the POS so we never got it. Luckily it was not on the bill. The special for the AYCE boneless wings is not worth it. They are heavily bread and fatty with uneven coats of batter. Not much meat on them. I still always enjoy the beer prices. I came to this location since it was there but I'll keep going to my main location outside Canada wonderland moving forward. Much cleaner location there.. and the workers have never forgotten my order.

(Eating experiences before or after crossing the international border between the State of New York…read moreand Canada - 2 of 2) I needed to eat and this place - St. Louis Bar and Grill - was in close proximity and among the few open late. I saw what they have to offer front and center and it's neither the product nor the ambiance I seek: ribs, wings, a loud sports bar with big TVs everywhere, and alcohol, thus perfect for backslappers. I figured they would have something I might like to eat. Before walking over to St. Louis Bar and Grill, I had spotted fish and chips on-line. I went in, the look was true to form to what I was expecting, and was greeted and seated right away. The big TVs do dominate the locale and deal with the local religion - hockey. The resto-bar was clean. A menu was brought over quickly. The server immediately made me aware of the nightly specials. It changed what I would order. I appreciated that. I settled on a burger platter, to which I added cheese. With it, I had a root beer. (The special that night was the burger platter and one could have it with their lower cost domestic beers, or something without alcohol.) Rounding out the platter was a nice serving of fries ... the kind with the ridges ... and they were good. The platter took a while to come to the table. However, given how good it was, this didn't matter. They got it right. The final tab was to my liking. I added a tip to reflect how welcoming and good natured the service was. Note that, even though later hours are kept, the kitchen closes a little earlier. Not knowing the landscape, it then became apparent that St. Louis Bar and Grill is a chain, albeit a sports bar that would, in my opinion, channel wings and ribs from places in the U.S. Lastly, it's less than 2 large blocks from the terminus station of TTC Line 1 up at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.

The food here accompanied me through the pandemic pretty much. I thought about it the other day, so I brought my mom back here to dine in. My mom really likes a Vietnamese pork chop, so I want to see if she would enjoy the Filipino charcoal-grilled version of it (she rarely had any Filipino food in her life). We ordered the BBQ grill platter with rice and four tacos to share since our visit was on a Tuesday. So, we actually didn't enjoy the tacos as much. The jerk chicken had an unexpected vinegar flavour (it was more like a chicken adobo), and the other chicken was served as popcorn chicken with spicy mayo. I was not the biggest fan, I have to say. The fish and beef tacos were better than the chicken ones, but there was nothing too special about them. The grilled platter was the hit, though--to me, grilled meat and dishes are always the signature of limitless. The meats were full of charcoal flavour. The pork chop & the skrewers were lean yet fragrant without being overly greasy (like many other restaurants). They went super well with rice. I was hoping that they would serve the raisin coleslaw tho--those were great back then, lol. I bet the Kamayan feast at Limitless would be worth a try. I'll come back with my gang of kuyas another day

Service was honest and helpful, and I appreciated being told which menu items to avoid. I ordered a pasta dish that was said to be one of the more seasoned options, but it still came out bland and needed more flavor. The portion was large enough for leftovers and the chicken was cooked well. I also had a watermelon martini, which was really good and one of the highlights. There's a long list of wing flavors, which seems to be what they're best known for. The bathroom situation was honestly unacceptable. One stall had no door and was completely out of service with a garbage bag covering the toilet. The remaining stall had broken fixtures, and there was a large hole in the wall. It felt neglected and more like a dingy club bathroom than a restaurant, which really took away from the experience and made me question the overall cleanliness behind the scenes. Some positives, but the bathroom condition needs serious attention.

August 14/2025: Dinner with Danny…read more These were some seriously good wings. They were big & well cooked & properly sauced! The server got the order correct. Came with a side of raw veggies (celery/carrots). What I didn't like was the coated fries. Tasted like an unnecessary added flavour. This place could benefit from shoestring fries. The place was very casual. Not many people there & the service was fast. Lots of sports on TV's all over the place including one right at your table (but you cannot control whats being played). This could easily move to a 5-Star of they changed their fries around cause they NAILED the wings at this location! It's a do-over from me.

We waited 10 minutes until we had to get someone to come serve us. We simply asked for the glasses and table to be cleaned off. Waitress #1 gave us a dirty look, cleared off the glasses and walked away. She didn't come back. We had to flag down a second waitress to help serve us, table was still dirty. She asked us what we wanted for drinks with no menu to choose from, so we asked for a menu and for our table to be cleaned (again). She gave me a dirty look, scoffed, and walked away. A THIRD waitress came to clean the table and take our order (finally). She came to check on us once, and about an hour after we sat down we needed a refill with no waitress in sight. My boyfriend had to walk up to the bar to ask for a refill, and waitress #2, who was dressed as if she were in her pyjamas at home, didn't even acknowledge him. Eventually he ordered and sat back down. She placed our drinks at the other end of the bar. At this point, we were getting pissed off by the lack of respect and service here. He asked if she would bring it to the table and she said "you ordered it at the bar, you can pick it up at the bar". He said "I'd like to have it brought to my table and pay there or I can leave." She replied "walk out and I call the cops, you've been rude since you sat down." Since we sat down, waitresses didn't give us even a glimpse of eye contact for 10 minutes and we had to go and ASK for service. Apparently that's being rude. I have never had such shitty service ANYWHERE to this degree, to the point where my boyfriend and I were both angry to the point we were shaking. Do NOT go here unless you want to be treated like shit. The typical service you'd expect at a bar or restaurant was asked for here and wasn't given, and apparently by asking for service we were being "rude".
