Decatur Rd. at a very busy intersection, it sits tucked into a tiny shopping center, blink and you will drive right past it. Parking is limited, and you can immediately tell the small lot fills up fast, especially during peak hours. I stumbled upon Tenya while in town on a Tuesday, scrolling Yelp in search of a solid lunch spot, and I'm glad I did. This is a family-owned Japanese eatery that specializes in comfort food, and according to their website, everything is made from scratch, which absolutely shows in the quality. I placed my order online and picked it up with ease. I ordered the Shrimp Saku Saku appetizer along with a fresh garden Tenya salad. The shrimp were excellent, perfectly crispy with a flavorful panko coating that didn't feel heavy or greasy. The salad was impressively fresh and came with their house-made ginger dressing, which paired beautifully with the crisp greens and added just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy, with a decent amount of seating for its size. The customer service was warm and welcoming; the lady at the counter greeted me kindly and had my order ready shortly after I arrived, making the pickup process smooth and pleasant. A nice bonus is the selection of packaged Japanese snacks and drinks available at the counter, always a fun touch and something you don't see everywhere. Next time, I plan to dine in and explore more of the menu, along with sampling some of those snacks and drinks. Tenya is a great example of simple, thoughtfully prepared food done right. I'll definitely be back.

The food was fresh though just basically tasteless. One of them was shrimp which was fried, breaded and put in the soup. It's like they really don't know how to prepare authentic ramen.

It's a walk up window spot with the menu and a bell, when you're ready to order, ring the bell. The service is friendly and succinct. Non invasive and just helpful without asking when needed. The seating area is a mix between covered and uncovered, with a small speaker playing contemporary tunes at a respectable level. There are string lights above, and I can only imagine how beautiful this all looks at night. I'd read a LOT about their fish sandwich. That it is a good size helping. That it has a great light fresh vinegar sauce with thinly sliced carrots and other crunchy veg. The fish tasted fresh fried. And I have to say, this is the Best fish sandwich I have ever tasted. I only am upset I hadn't come much sooner. I will have to return, probably on a monthly basis for that fish sandwich. There are enough pictures out there of the sandwich. But I also had the Thai basil lemonade and it was a nice pairing. Not a waste of time, effort or dough. Just go.

We bring friends here, and one friend in particular is so obsessed that he was dreaming of their food when he was on a film shoot out of state, and could not wait to get back. You order at the window, and can take it away or eat outside. The place feels like a party when the weather is good. I don't think it is possible to order badly: the owners keep the menu tight, and everything is SO FRESH. When they run out, that's it. (The curried carrot soup will go fast, I've found.) My husband usually gets the vietnamese fried fish sandwich which is delectable with lots of flavor and texture. We rarely eat meat, but I have made an exception to try the Moroccan lamb burger which was worth it. I usually spring for the upgrade to get crispy smashed potatoes instead of chips. And it's worth noting that the drinks are also well above average: I've enjoyed the indulgence of a Bravassi hard Italian soda with my meal on a lazy afternoon, after shopping at the Second Life thrift store. Their drinks are very good, and they serve them up straightaway to savor while you wait for your order to come up. I have not yet ordered a salad but they have an array of excellent / choices, and I know they will not disappoint. I also want to note that although there is not waiter service (which makes it an ideal spot to meet friends) the staff is friendly, and well above average. It's such a great vibe, and a real bonus of living in the area. They also serve breakfast, and I feel confident in their level of quality in recommending them as a stop for anyone.

Open Wednesday - Sunday. We welcomed the calm, family-friendly vibe and free parking. Even with the rain, we were dry and toasty. Other than breathing fresh air, you wouldn't know you're outside. Seat yourself and scan a QR code with your phone to order and prepay. Being old school I think you get better tips by greeting the table and giving recommendations. But there was only one server, she was friendly and hustling. I love the grown up music - neo soul and pop (Selena, Ed Sheeran), with enough volume to hear each other, clean restrooms and comfy seating. Food came out quick, hot and fresh. The amiable owner greeted us after to inquire about our meals. We had a party of 7 (4 adults, 2 teens, 1 kid). I loved my pancake breakfast! The filling, not too sweet hot cakes were promptly drenched in warmed Mrs. Butterworths. Applewood smoked bacon? Blissful. Scrambled eggs with cheese? Dreamy. I devoured it all and left full and content. My Dad said the Blueberry Pancakes were the best breakfast he ever had! Ms. Chicken and Waffles thought the poultry was a bit salty yet "well-seasoned with the perfect crunch." Waffle? Delicious. On a scale of 1-5, Mr. Cream Cheese French Toast and Grits Bowl ranked it 10! "Grits were magical, better than Milk and Honey." Teen's Simple Breakfast (potatoes, eggs and bacon) and French Toast "blew IHOP out of the water!" Preteen ranked his Simple Breakfast and side of French Toast "5 quintillion!" The bacon was a bit tough but the bread blew him away! Kiddo - ranked her kids breakfast (large fruit-topped pancake with eggs and bacon) 6 out of 5! Would we return and recommend? A resounding yes! This quaint, low-key family owned business with amazing food gets our vote every time.

No waiting around. No waving for a server. Just scan, order, and mind your business until the food comes out. Now let's talk about the order because yes, we showed out. Lobster and Shrimp Omelet. Breakfast Sampler. Buttermilk Pancakes. Creamy Parmesan Grits. Coffee. Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Bites. If you're wondering if it was too much food, the answer is absolutely not. The food was good. Like pause mid bite and nod your head good. Everything tasted fresh and cooked to order, which explains why it took a little while to hit the table. Worth the wait. However, somebody back there is not afraid of seasoning. At all. Bold. Confident. Heavy handed. The kind of salt level that makes you sip your coffee and look at your partner like are you tasting this too. Did it stop us from eating. No. Did we still clean our plates. Also no question. And then there were the cinnamon sugar croissant bites. Sweet. Soft. Dangerous. These caused the most tension at the table. One of us said we were full. The other immediately reached for the last bite. Overall, Huskey's Kitchen is a solid brunch spot with big flavors and fresh food. We would absolutely come back. Next visit we're requesting light salt and ordering those croissant bites again because some lessons are learned and some are ignored. She eats. He eats. We argue over the seasoning and the last bite. #SheEatsHeEats
