For example, the Kungfu Tea in Libertyville, their tapioca pearls are so inconsistent. Sometimes I go and they're mushy and other times, they're so hard like rubber bullets; they're never made correctly and perfectly every time. That's where Te Amo comes in the picture. Their tapioca pearls are consistently good. They also have really good flavor combinations and the drinks are made with care. Along with the boba tea, they also sell mochi donuts and basque cheesecake!

It was still a bit too sweet, I would've picked 10% if it had that option. The foam is a bit sour and bitter, kinda shocking. But not until you get to the actual drink part, it's actually not bad. The light bitterness throughout was really good. Both ube and dalgona flavors come out. But I might try to go with more simple/purer flavors, one at a time. I find mixed flavors a bit too much, since not all mixed flavors go well together. Might just go with dalgona by itself next time or ube creme brulee alone. Also, I think the drink I had would've been better cold, as the ice would cut the sweetness to half if I waited long enough. I would've ordered a cold one but cold would've exacerbated my cough, so hot it is. Also wanted to add that the boba were done well, not under or overcooked. The tapioca itself had a nice toasted sugar flavor. As for service, it's mostly a self-service kiosk. Ordering is pretty easy and straightforward, and they have Apple Pay. Interestingly the ordering system is through Chowbus, they text you your order number.

These are not grocery store cannolis--these are made with real ingredients--pistachios, peanuts, lemon and orange peels. We also had to grab a piece of cannoli cake. The shop is small, but in the cutest midcentury style building, and in the warmer weather, picnic tables are available outside. Don't be surprised if the staff offer you a fork with your purchases, so you can enjoy the treats right away! The owners also conduct classes, which we really want to attend in the future. They also offer catering. So happy to support this small business!

You can't sit and enjoy your treats but that's what's extra cute about it; it's just a little hut on the side of the main drag in Mundelein. But it stands out! If I recall, there might be picnic tables outside? Could be wrong. My focus was on THE SHAKE! And I was so lucky to have Tony himself make it for me!!! I've been wanting to stop in for about a year now, so today's treat was extra special. Great service. It's run by happy people who love what they do, you can tell. And I guess Tony perfected his grandmother's recipe. I applaud the effort! I'm not a Midwest girl and dislike nearly everything about this rotten part of the country, but places like this with quality service, food, ambiance, and location make me feel like I can breathe. Go! And when you go "wow," remember that I told you so!

The place is a true gem -- the kind of spot everyone knows about, which explains the always long lines. But honestly, the wait just builds the anticipation. I'm a die‑hard fan of the Turtle sundae, but you really can't go wrong with any flavor here. Everything is rich, creamy, and made with the kind of care you can taste. Our ritual is simple: pop the trunk, sit back, and enjoy our custard like it's the highlight of the season... because it is. If you're looking for that classic, nostalgic, summer‑night treat, Greg's is absolutely the place to be.

The locals love it and during warm weather days, it's busy especially during and after dinner hours. Their frozen custard is creamy and flavorful. They have a wonderful variety of rotating flavors and on Fridays, they alternate between Butter Pecan and Pistachio flavors. They have a nice menu variety and the pricing is very reasonable. They also have frozen pints in which you can also usually find the Flavor of the Day from the previous day. The service is friendly and good. The shop is a classic, old school looking with a walk-up window to order and pick up your order style establishment. Check it out. They are worth a visit and more.

Ice cream. After spending the day outside and then grilling out, we (obviously) needed ice cream to complete our Saturday. We popped into Scoops and Cookies because it's not far from our house and because Homer's Ice Cream is always an enticing offer. They have a *ton* of flavors. The screens above the counter showcase everything, while you can see some of the flavors in the case. We sampled a few before deciding on a scoop of cappuccino chip in a sugar cone (mine) and two scoops of butter pecan and cookie dough in a dish (his). We were helped by who we assumed to be the owner, who was friendly and also keeping things moving as groups (understandably) hemmed and hawed over their flavor choices. While we weren't here for cookies this time, they piqued our interest and we'll explore that more on our next visit. There are quite a few tables inside with lots of seating, and everything was clean. Did this just become our new favorite ice cream place? Maybe!

My wife and I had always wanted to visit them ever since then and we finally did after about 10 months. The place was small and charming with lots of neeat chocolate creations, as one would expect. We sampled a couple different chocolate pieces and as far as I can tell, they were good. I say that only because I'm not a huge chocolate person, and I don't have a huge gauge on what's good vs great. Since our main purpose of the visit was for donuts, we went ahead and orderes half dozen "premium" donuts. Turns out, the box that was gifted to us was a custom mix of their premium selections, which are fancier donut creations that require a bit more finesse and efforts for them to create. Apparently, you need to order ahead if you want to have a good mix of a dozen, which we didn't know. So we ended up picking from the available ones. They were still a good variety. I don't actively seek out donuts, but if I craved one, I'd definitely seek out Morkes.
