Not a "Villa" - Expect Rustic…read more We rented the farmhouse, cabins, and bridal suite for a group of 18, expecting the advertised "luxury lakeside penthouse" experience with air conditioning. What we encountered was unacceptable from the moment we arrived. None of the rooms were clean and the buildings are not well maintained. Numerous light bulbs were burned out, the farmhouse freezer did not work, and some of the beds were so broken down that sleeping on the floor may have been more comfortable. No one showed up to check us in. The air conditioning was not working in the farmhouse or cabins, and it failed in the bridal suite the following day. The property was so unbearably hot that we had to spend our first night in a hotel. Two cabins had no electricity when we arrived, and the farmhouse later lost power as well. Even more concerning, my 85-year-old mother fell in a deteriorating shower that had no grab bar. This was not simply an inconvenience. It was a serious safety issue. We contacted the owner repeatedly and when he finally responded to our concerns, his answer was essentially, "Next time, stay somewhere else."

Although we didn't have food we did have a few of their adult beverage creations. The cocktail menu is creative without trying too hard. The drinks were delicious and well balanced. Ask for Sarah and let her guide you through their drink list--you won't be disappointed.

All the cabins has been recently updated and felt very clean. Mattresses were pretty good especially for camping. The cabins come stocked with paper towel, coffee, mugs, coffee pot, dish and hand soap, tp, garbage bags, sponge and first aid kit. You do still have to bring basically all your stuff as if you were camping. The pool has 2 canopy areas with picnic tables underneath. The pool is only open when the lifeguard is on duty which is a bummer but understandable. There is a short walk to the water where the canoeing/boating/docks are. It is a walk back up a hill but it's not too horrible. The groundskeeper also keeps some livestock onsite which our 2 year loved. She got to hold some baby chicks and we saw sheep roaming free. Nearby places to check out include wineries (obviously) Shtayburn Dairy, FLX Weinery and climbing bines brewery. This place is very affordable and the amenities are a great deal for the price, where else can you stay this cheap on Seneca Lake?

This is a great place, highly recommend. Note though... when trying to locate it. Our gps took us up the hill along the backside of the owners house.. this was a dirt pathway - not the right way. The sign was deceiving. The cottage is directly next to the house, right off the paved road. Bonus points to the host for having the awesome array of dvds and games. This was so fun for us girls.
