I finally got a chance to visit this place. The food was memorable. I loved the hush puppies. Excellent flavor, crisp outside, the right consistency inside. Great BBQ sauce with the right amount of smokiness throughout the ribs I had. The put BBQ sauce on their fried chicken and I will have to say, it was a very enjoyable eating experience of texture and taste since I am used to BBQ chicken that is grilled. I ordered a two meat plate, smoked sausage, Buffalo fried chicken, hush puppies,and mashed potatoes. I just wasn't a fan of any of the food. The smoked sausage had an odd flavor that was not appetizing. The chicken was alright, generic buffalo sauce. The mashed potatoes, for all I know could have been from a box but the gravy was for sure package or from a jar. And the hush puppies were dense, dry, and lacked any flavor. Hands down one of the best meals of my life. I got fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and red beans and rice. The chicken was crispy yet unbelievably moist on the inside, and the flavors in the bread were amazing. What gem! The hubby and I were on a weekend get-away and decided to try this place out after reading the good reviews. Are we glad that we did. The food was fantastic. What a delight to get bbq pork so tasty it didn't need sauce. The collards were seasoned perfectly, not bland like every other place I have ordered them. We ordered a combination plate to share. Totally worth it! The Cozzy Corner is a soul food place with a music theme. They play a variety of music in the background. While we were dining there, we heard songs from artists like Jimi Hendrix, Zapp and Roger, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and New Edition, among others. The restaurant is decorated with related memorabilia, including photos, posters, artwork, and actual vinyl records from many recording artists. In fact, when they bring you your check, it is clipped to a 7" record instead of placed in one of those folding dealies! We heard this place gets really busy so we decided to come early for lunch. When we walked in we got a table right away. The service wasn't the fastest, but I wouldn't call it slow. The staff was definitely friendly, though. Our waiter, Eugene, was great. He did a great job helping us decide what to order by using his knowledge of the menu items to answer all our questions. I originally ordered the Two-Meat Plate with Fried Chicken and Pulled Pork, choosing Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens as my two sides. Then my friend asked what the Spicy BBQ Fried Chicken was. Eugene told us it was the same as their world-class (my words, not his) Fried Chicken, but it was coated in their own unique in-house Spicy BBQ sauce that he said you can't get anywhere else in the world. We asked if they sold it by the bottle, and he said no! I knew right then and there that I had to change my order from Fried Chicken to Spicy BBQ Fried Chicken. I was definitely NOT disappointed! That sauce was AMAZING! Had a little bit of sweet and a little bit of spice and a ton of flavor! It was unique, perfectly balanced, and delicious! The Fried Chicken itself was delicious and crispy and definitely would have done just fine on its own. The Pulled Pork was good. Served on a roll, it was both smoky and juicy as it should be. It was not quite as good as a lot of the Pulled Pork I had down South. But it was pretty close and probably the best that I've had in the North. The Mac and Cheese was good, but it wasn't anything special. It was basically the same as it would be at any other similar type of restaurant (Soul Food/Southern/Barbecue/Country Kitchen). The Collard Greens were a pleasant surprise. I love Collard Greens, but they have to be done right. Usually that means that they're really fatty. When they are dry, they usually aren't good. But these ones were not too greasy, but still had a lot of great flavor to them. The Corn Bread was really good, too. It was nice and moist, and had little chunks of sweet potato in it. My friend ordered The Big Jess, which was Smoked Sausage on a roll, topped with Pulled Pork, Cole Slaw, and BBQ Sauce, with Mac and Cheese and Red Beans and Rice as his two sides. He enjoyed them all. The Big Jess certainly lived up to its name, as the sausage was humungous, way too big for the roll (which is a good thing!). I posted a photo of it, but the camera angle did not do justice to how big it truly is. The Red Beans and Rice also had chunks of sausage in it. My only complaints were: 1. There were too many delicious options on the menu. I found it really hard to say no to the Chicken and Waffles, especially the Watermelon flavored waffles. 2. We were so full after our meal that we had no room for dessert. I hear the Banana Pudding is amazing. 3. I couldn't take home a bottle of the Spicy BBQ Sauce. 4. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest and it was hard to figure out how to close and lock the door properly. This place has some very good comfort food. I elected to have the fried chicken and mac and cheese. Both were good but nothing I would call outstanding. The price can't be beat for the food quality. The waitress was very pleasant and the diner has lots of records posted on the walls and the ceiling. I know some of you are way to young to remember what a record is but I assure you they are the real vinyl 33 rpm deal! The murals on the wall were worth the visit and I would say it is worth the stop if you are in Appleton. The service was a bit slow but the solo waitress had her hands full. This place is one I have to get to again. The decor is kitschy cool and the staff was great. The food was out of this world. The prices are right in line and my daughter swears by the gumbo. Messy fantastic barbeque and good down home cornbread. They even have cornbread pancakes. We had Big Jess, Chicken & Waffle, Waffle sandwich, and grilled pulled pork w/Mac & Cheese. It was all very good. The side of Mac&Cheese could have been a little warmer and the Big Jess (sausage topped with pulled pork and slaw) was pretty tricky to eat. I have never visited the restaurant, but I order frequently through the UberEats app. I have had both kinds of Catfish (original or cajun) , Greens, Yams, Mac, and also their Red Beans&Rice. All delicious! Also have ordered their Sweet Potato Pie which is really good. All of these have been consistent. What I don't like: side of Green Beans seem to be served right out of a can. Also ordered their Peach Cobbler which has a very pleasant taste, but it was completely soupy which was totally disappointing. Yesterday drove to Appleton from Green Bay to enjoy soul food. As we entered the restaurant the employee behind the counter wasn't friendly and really never greeted us. We were then told that on Tue there is no in restaurant dinning- the reason for this ridiculous rule never explained to us and our food would be cold by the time we would drive home. Amazing ribs, BBQ chicken with just the right amount of spice, more cool sides than you could shake a stick at The atmosphere was even better than the food.
