There are a million things you have to plan and worry about going awry on your wedding day and this was the one component that was just perfect. From ordering, asking questions, and pickup to cutting and eating - the process working with Hanna was seamless and comfortable. The cake itself was to die for. We went with an almond cake, blackberry filling and cream cheese frosting. This combination was insane! The cake was buttery, flavorful, nutty, nuanced and so rich and delicate. The filling was fresh, sweet, tart, and bright. The frostings were creamy, melt in your mouth goodness. The sweetness was so balanced that no one had a problem inhaling their slice. Might I say - this cake was even better the next day when I had time to myself and my now husband :) to sit down and enjoy a leftover slice with some hot tea. It was just such a memorable part of our entire weekend. Not that I even have to disclose but, obviously, the cake was gorgeous. I was absolutely hesitant to slice and ruin any of this incredibly detailed piping and decor but it cut like butter and tasted just as good as it looked. So this year, in 2023, a friend asked me to bring cupcakes to a friend's birthday, and again, I or we were not disappointed. The cupcakes were fantastic, moist, and light. Today I picked up my gender reveal cake from a different bakery. We do gluten free- loosely for my…read morekids so that's what I got- had to drive a ways too. When I picked it up, it did not look like my inspiration pictures. There were purple flowers on the sides with pink one (no purple in the inspiration pic), no pearls, no vintage lattice work-just pipped the flowers on the sides with green stems (no stems in the pic) and the top writing. I was disappointed. I asked them to include blue flowers to balance out that it felt a little too girly, and they went back and added them which made it look better. I am not sure if the inspo pics got lost in the shuffle or if too much creative lee-way was taken but either way, I felt a little let down but was not going to let it ruin my day. However, on the drive home I still felt like it was pretty, but just not what I had in mind. I decided to call Bittersweet which is local to us and ask if they could add a few elements like the lattice and pearls. Faith was so kind on the phone and told me to bring it in being also clear that they aren't gluten free. I understood, but since we don't have true allergies I told her I was comfortable with them fixing it. It would not medically harm anyone if there was cross contamination. When I got there I showed her the original picture and sent it to her personal phone. Later I went to pick it up after taking my little to lunch, it came out it and was FANTASTIC! They added all the elements it was missing that I wanted and loved. It still doesn't exactly match my pictures but it looks SO cute now and I am very very happy! When I went to pay, she told me to just go enjoy my cake and that they were happy to help. THIS is how you win business, friends!! ANYTIME, I am ordering goodies, back to school treats for teachers, holiday yummies or cakes that aren't for my GF kids, I will be getting them from Bittersweet!!!! Thank you, Faith!!!
