After doing research, we purchased Vetiver grass from The Herb Cottage for hill stabilization. The…read morevery deep roots are ideal for this purpose. The order was shipped without regard to the Independence Day holiday...so the slips sat dehydrating in a USPS truck or warehouse for 3 unnecessary days. Upon arrival, we soaked the slips overnight to rehydrate. When sorting the slips, we noted that a good number of the slips had very short roots; like 1/2 inch short. We took care to plant the slips carefully, to not cover the crowns nor expose the root system. However, once the slips began to regrow, none of the short rooted slips survived. We lost 28% of the order, either due to the prolonged (holiday) delivery delay, the slips not being given long enough roots, or a combination of both. Now, 3-wks in-ground a number of slips are 3-ft high, a number at least 1-ft high, and a number that are dry (dead) and the same 8-in or so as when they arrived. Having almost 1/3 or an order turn out to just be waste is unacceptable. Unfortunately, there aren't many Vetiver sellers in the U.S. selling to the retail customer. So..."Eek! Methinks not."

When she finally got around to looking at it she said they only service brands they sell. They have a Briggs and Stratton sign outside and my edger has a Briggs and Stratton engine. It must be nice to be able to turn away business. From now on I'll go to Schulenberg, LaGrange, or even San Antonio before I set foot in that store again.

Most everything here is priced, but the smaller potted items have signage denoting their prices next to them. Here you will find herbs, veggies, shrubbery, annuals, perennials, and trees. Inside their small greenhouse, you will find bonsai, succulents, and tropical plants. There is also a very large organic seed selection along with all kinds of organic soil amendments. Everything sold here is in near perfect condition and the prices are fairly reasonable. The staff is also knowledgeable and helpful. Informative photos included.
