We looked low and high for places that fit our vibe, budget, and style. Then we found this venue. Winter White Barn is a beautiful venue filled with tons of charm. They have a beautiful indoor barn area, outdoor reception area, and a beautiful ceremony area - all separate! In addition, Kelly, the owner of WWB is an absolute angel. She has been nothing short of amazing. When COVID hit, she helped to accommodate our new wedding dates without hesitation. Unfortunately, we decided to not move forward with a big ceremony, and Kelly was still so helpful. I look forward to the day that we can revisit this venue again.

We parked in the dirt lot just beyond the entrance and followed the path to an upper grassy area that was set up for the wedding. There was an arch for the bride and groom to stand beneath with spectacular mountain views behind them. After the ceremony we were directed up the hill, then down a flight of concrete stairs to a lower yard. There was an in-ground swimming pool with an attached hot tub. The pool was old enough that it had a diving board. The water in the pool was blue, but the hot tub was rust colored. It looked as though that pool hadn't been used in quite some time and needed some TLC. Just beyond the pool was a lawn where the cocktail hour was held for guests as the wedding party was having photos taken. No chairs, just a few tables to stand at and set your drink down. They also provided an archway with beautiful views behind it for photo-ops. When the cocktail hour ended, we were led down yet another dirt path to a very large grassy area where the reception was held. (It was where the bathrooms were too). Plenty of room for tables and chairs. On one end was a large dancefloor. Strings of patio lights provided subtle lighting and the views were fantastic. The pathways, staircase and grass areas were, at times, a bit precarious, especially for those wearing heels. The road to the venue is a couple of miles of two-lane, winding curves off of highway 76. Cel service is sketchy - People with Verizon as their carrier seemed to have pretty good service. If you plan to Uber/Lyft out, book in advance. If you are looking for an outdoor venue for your wedding, I would reccommend that you consider Secluded Garden Estates. Pala Casino Spa Resort is a short three-mile drive and a convenient place for guests to stay.

We had about 55 guests. No one left hungry - because the food was DELICIOUS! The Lemon Thyme Chicken was prepared perfectly. Moist, flavorful and just delicious! Mashed Potatoes - some of the best ever! Chef Steve also prepared Honey Butter Roasted Carrots. I'm not a big carrot lover - especially cooked - but I wanted seconds of this one! Sadly, the kids and teenagers (who went back for 2nd's) got to them before I did! (I think I saw someone in line a 3rd time - but who's counting?) So I hope you can see how incredibly delicious the food was. It was served buffet style - and each dish was piping hot (well except for the Caesar Salad which was perfect too) I had several people ask for the recipe for both the chicken and carrots! I'm told chefs don't reveal their secrets.... The Helpers of the day - Andrew and Roel - were beyond helpful! The least little thing to the biggest of asks - they provided! I was researching the Audie Murphy Ranch community when I discovered this place founded by the same man, Tom Fuhrman. My friend and I drove over earlier this month to check it out. We had no problem locating it. I was bowled over at how adorable this place was! As I ran back to the car to grab my camera to take pics, I came across a guy in a truck driving down from one of the residences. I explained that I was a huge Audie Murphy fan and just had to check this place out after reading about it online. He immediately lit up and said, "Well, now, because of that, I will personally give you a tour and the backstory on how this all came about!" He introduced himself as Chet and spent a good part of an hour telling my friend and I how he and Tom built this place with discarded material from Audie Murphy's own ranch after the original structures were torn down. The property is rented for weddings, receptions, hootenannies, you name it! My only regret is that I don't live closer to take advantage of this amazing place. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to check it out and that we had Chet as a guide who made the place personal. I think Audie himself would be right pleased!
