This place is very nice looking and does not have a bar atmosphere you generally feel from a pub. The booth was high quality - even had a pillow for comfort, but the table was a sticky. I actually went and felt the table in another booth and it was also sticky. It just might be the way it was finished. We were there for lunch. I had a Mediterranean Salad. It was on small side. It was made with really fresh spinach but I felt a little grit twice when chewing. Only salads were gluten free. My husband had a chicken cheese steak and he loved everything about it. Came here on a Sunday early afternoon for lunch. One of us ordered the fried fish with a side salad, which she had to pay extra for. The regular sides are fries, potato chips and pasta salad. The fish did not look good to me and I was glad I did not order it. It was very "crunchy" and it seemed hard to cut into. She ordered a side of fries, and they came out WAY over done. The side salad looked ok. I got the burger with fries. The fries were very good,but the burger was just ok. I would not get again...was overpriced and just blah. It came with pineapple on it which I can not eat and cheese which I took off, but even with those two things added, it just did not compare to other burgers that are better for less money. The service was good, only one young lady for the whole place, but she did a great job. It was fairly quiet for the first 2 hours we were there, but it got louder and louder and it was almost impossible to have a conversation by the time we left. UPDATE: I had the urge for delivery but nothing heavy, so I decided to give The Corner another try after the not-so-good experience there many years ago. Their grilled cheese sandwich entry on their menu struck me as what I was looking for and I went with it, choosing the house made chips as the side. I know what you are thinking, it would probably come by delivery a bit soggy...so I was surprised when it was still warm and not soggy when it arrived. It was wrapped well which helped with that but the cheese did stick to almost everywhere on the wrapping quite a bit also. Anyway, still warm and not so soggy, it tasted pretty good. The house made chips were good but the accompanying ranch dressing for dipping was very very thin and a bit disappointing. However, having a grilled cheese that remained pretty decent even through delivery has moved them up a star in my book. I may need to try something there at the tavern/grill itself sometime in the future to see if I can have a more positive visit than the one there years ago. read more

Came on a work trip and a coworker took me to this spot. We sat at the bar and Molly who was our server was great! She gave us amazing service, gave us suggestions and made the dinner an even better experience! Food: Appetizers were Hummus and the Corn Dogs. I thoroughly enjoyed the corn dogs and my friend loved the hummus. For dinner I got the Gyro Sandwich and my friend got the Kabobs. Flavorful food with great customer service! I received a coupon in a mail and decided to pick up lunch at the Corner Tavern & Grill. It was my first time buying food from here so I was not familiar with the menu. Their website was down so I could not access their menu online. Yelp did have some menu items listed which was helpful. I decided to call the restaurant to inquire where to find the menu. The employee I spoke with on the phone (Laura) was incredibly helpful. She was aware that the website was down and they were working on fixing it. She was unsure where the menu was available online so she read off the main items to me. We are very appreciative of this and quickly decided what we wanted to order. I would recommend that they post their takeout menu on Facebook, that way potential customers can view it in case the website is down. I did post the takeout menu on yelp. She said that our food would be ready in 15 minutes. The food was ready when we arrived and our order was accurate. Laura even included a takeout menu for future orders. We ordered a chicken gyro with a side salad ($10.99 + $1.50) and The Corner Burger with fries ($13.99). The gyro seemed pricy especially with the salad upcharge. It was filling and flavorful. We particularly enjoyed the tzatiki sauce. The Corner burger was amazing. Very large and packed with toppings and flavor. I could barely taste the pineapple with all the other toppings on it. The fries were crunchy and tasty. Both dishes were very messy to eat, definitely have napkins on hand. Overall we enjoyed our meal and would recommend this restaurant to others. I came to Corner Tavern & Grill in Cary to see a band (Pearl Jam tribute). Otherwise, I would have not known about this place since it is small and somewhat hidden off of Maynard Road in Cary. I and a friend sat in a booth and ordered some drinks and food while listening to the band. I had a black and blue burger and sweet potato fries. The food was good and different in that the meat was spiced up more than what is typical. (The food has a Moroccan flare in general since the owners are Moroccan). The service was as good as can be expected since they had a big crowd to see the band. Although The Corner Tavern & Grill isn't really convenient for me, I would visit The Corner Tavern & Grill again if they have a band I am interested in. read more

It's rare to find a mom and pop restaurant that has survived in this area as long as The Corner has! I think the reason it's been able to stay open so long is it's a popular place for the older generation to go. But it's also good for us younger folk too! My wife and I wanted to give this place a try. Pretty average food, although that description may be too generous. Spinach artichoke dip was pretty bland and had an off-putting smell. The burger I ordered was very dry and overcooked. My wife's chicken philly was okay, according to her. Waitstaff seemed less than enthused about serving and just didn't have a very welcoming vibe. The first table we sat at was dirty with drink stains all over it. We pointed this out and moved to another nearby table, but the dirty table was not cleaned, which added to the feel that making customers feel welcome and important wasn't a priority. Finally the electric paper towel dispenser wasn't working and had to dry my hands on my shirt. This visit was a couple of hours after noon and not at peak times, but the customer doesn't really care about that and we were disappointed. We actually had wanted to go to Brew N Que across the street to get ribs because my wife was in the mood and we hadn't been there in a while, but we had assumed it was open on a Sunday and it wasn't. So we searched for other rib places on Google Maps and found that most of them were closed. One of the places that popped up in our search was The Corner. I remembered my dad saying some time ago that their ribs were great. When we got there, I was surprised that it was a Sunday night with most of their competition closed and there was no one seated in the dining area. There were some people in the small bar area drinking and watching sports. That should have been a red flag. We were told that we could sit anywhere, so we picked a spot and AS SOON AS WE SAT DOWN, a waitress was on top of us asking what we wanted to drink. I had no idea what they had! No time to look at the menu. We ended up ordering what we always do, a sweet tea and a water. After she walked away, I noticed that neither the drink menu nor the food menu listed any regular drink options like soda or tea, just the alcohol. I saw that ribs weren't on the menu, so I asked the waitress and she replied that they had condensed the menu some time ago and they no longer served ribs. THE RIBS WERE THE WHOLE REASON WE HAD GONE THERE! Thanks, Google! We were both disappointed, but we had already ordered drinks because we had no chance to look at the menu first, so we reluctantly decided to stay. Eventually we decided on the following: -Ly wanted the pulled pork plate that came with hush puppies and a side. Her side would be coleslaw. Total price: $11.99 -I wanted the fish & chips, described as being beer battered white fish with tarter. Ly doesn't care for hush puppies, so I ordered a side of sweet potato fries for her to eat, figuring we could share them and I'd eat her hush puppies. The price for the fish & chips was also $11.99, plus $1.99 for the sweet potato fries because they're a premium side. The food didn't take too long to come out, mostly because we were the only ones eating. But I immediately noticed that something was wrong with our order. For one thing, the waitress had failed to mention to Ly that the pulled pork already came with a small side of coleslaw and maybe suggest that we get something else, so now my wife had extra coleslaw to eat. The pork was puddled on the plate with 3 small hush puppies on the side. (I found it strange that they serve pulled pork and coleslaw but don't have a pulled pork sandwich on the menu.) But it was my meal that really annoyed us. I had one piece of fried fish on my plate with sweet potato fries, a little cup of tarter sauce, and a little cup of coleslaw. Where were the chips for my fish & chips? So I called the waitress over and asked her what the fish & chips normally came with. She said that it came with a piece of fish and fries. I informed her that I figured as much but had expected my side of sweet potato fries (that I paid extra for) to be WITH the fish & chips. She said that she knew the fish already came with fries, so she just made the sweet potato fries my chips. Okay, but then why was I paying $14 for a piece of fried white fish and a handful of sweet potatoes?! Here, the waitress had failed to make sure of what I wanted. She decided to short me the chips without clearing it with me first. Had she said something to me when I placed the order, I would of told her that I wanted both the chips with the fish AND I wanted the sweet potato fries. That's what I was paying for! The fish was actually good and didn't taste like the bland frozen fish fillets you get from Food Lion or Salem Street Pub in Apex. But it's not worth $14! The pulled pork was also great, being honest here. The food itself is why I gave two stars instead of one. So we were finishing up our meal. My wife and I share food as couples do, so I had given her some fish and she'd given me some of her pulled pork. I guess the waitress saw that the fish and potato fries were gone, so she hurried to the table and said, "I'm gonna take your plate now". It wasn't mean or anything, just a statement of fact. Before I could say anything, she had the plate with my fork and sped toward the kitchen. I wasn't done eating yet! I still had the pulled pork on my plate! So that was strike three for the waitress. She then had the gall to ask if we wanted a dessert menu, to which we declined and asked for the check. I gave her a $2 tip (and no less just because she was prompt to a fault) and wrote on the paper, "Ask customers questions before doing things!" So we paid $27.86 for a puddle of pulled pork, more coleslaw than we could eat, one piece of fried fish, and sweet potato fries. On top of this, the wait staff chatted and laughed loudly the whole time. One worker spent the whole time watching the football game. Stopped in for an early dinner on St Pat's Day and no one greeted us for several minutes when we first entered. No leprechaun, no Hornswoggle, no Lucky Charmer. No one. There was a band setting up so perhaps all the leprechauns were just busy or preoccupied. It appears that there are plenty of regulars here so maybe they don't quite know what to do with 7 unfamiliar faces at once. However, after the initial unwelcoming, service was all uphill from there. I was the only one in our group who opted for corned beef which, I found out after placing my order, was made by our server. True story. I may have ordered it anyway if she told me beforehand but I'm not positive about that. Sometimes I just live dangerously, sometimes not. Our server actually did a nice job on the corned beef. The meat had more fat than I've ever seen on corned beef. Aside from (or maybe due to) the fat, the beef was tender, juicy, and had good flavor. The potatoes, carrots and cabbage were tasty. Swayed by a soon to expire LivingSocial, I popped into the Corner Tavern & Grill for an early dinner. Inside it's bare-bones with a small side-room bar. A gaggle of regulars are at the bar enjoying an early evening beer. The menu is your basic mix of burgers, sandwiches, apps along with some Moroccan food. I do some sliders which are nicely grilled and some ok cheesy fries, but I'll be honest with you that I'm not sure if the calories were worth it. There aren't a ton of details for my review because Corner Tavern & Grill is probably a place I wouldn't come back to again. Not because it's bad but because it's your typical neighborhood bar and grill and I don't live in the hood. The location is pretty deep in Cary so I can't see myself going out of the way to stop in here again. And service was a bit distracted and not so professional during my visit. We purchased a Living Social deal after reading the reviews on Yelp and am glad we gave it a try. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The bar area is sectioned off with a high open wall and the lights appear to be lower in that area. The regular dining area has high and low tables and booths. It was decorated real cute for Halloween too! There's plenty to choose from on the menu from appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and entrees. I was torn between the Moroccan burger (Finely chopped onions and cilantro mixed into the burger patty. Topped with house-made Moroccan tomato sauce.) and the Hawaiian (Bacon, caramelized pineapples, and grilled jalapeños). I opted for the Hawaiian burger with a side of onion rings. I asked for the burger medium rare and it was! The flame grill flavor with the grilled pineapple was really good and the jalapenos give it a bite every now and then. I asked for some bbq sauce on the side, but should have really asked for some teriyaki instead. That would have really taken it over the top! It comes on a kaiser roll and it was so huge I had to cut it in half to eat it. The onion rings are beer battered, not too thick, and crispy - yum! It was nice to find a new place with good food and a pleasant atmosphere. They also have live music on the weekends later in the evening. We hope to be back again soon. read more

Molly, the bartender, and the other staff, are all super nice and really in tune with what you want, such as drink refills that magically appear, so you really enjoy your evening. Mostafa, one of the owners of this tavern and grill, really listens to his customers, to their ideas about what they enjoy doing for entertainment, and possibly implementing those ideas in the future. If I could, I wish I gave half star. We live close to and walk past the tavern many times and usually see a large crowd of customers eating in the restaurant. Thinking it must be good, our family of 4 finally decided to give it a shot. We came in around 5:30pm on a week day, and it's still early for dinner. Not lots of customers there and we could see waiters/waitresses wandering around. We picked up a table inside, sitting there for literally 5 minutes without anybody attending to us. Not a single soul asked us about menus, questions, or something to drink, although a couple of waitresses saw us coming in. None. I don't care how the food tastes. Best burger in town! We had no idea this place was even here until my wife found a Groupon deal! The southwestern burger was just perfect- perfectly cooked and great flavor. Great draft beer selection, and the onion rings were amazing with a light batter that was to die for. The service is very very friendly, and the atmosphere is very family oriented. I ordered the Mahi Mahi dish and it was a very small single filet and a little overcooked. The flavors were fairly simple but pretty good. It came with baby green beans that were a little cool (may have been due to a timing issue in preparing the dishes and bringing them to our table). My wife ordered the Avocado Burger and I had a few bites. Very good burger! It had a nice grilled steak flavor. It was cooked to the temperature requested (which was medium). We also ordered the tator tots as an appetizer but these were accidentally forgotten by server so they came after our main dishes. We told him it was ok if he took them off our order but he gave them to us for free and I was glad he did. I expected the typical tator tots but these were quite unique. Instead of the solid potato filling, these tots were a mixture of cheese, potato, and green onions all fried together. Very tasty and we really enjoyed them (and only $5). I wasn't a big fan of the interior space... there was a lot crammed into a small area. There's a slight partition between the bar side and the dining side (we sat on the dining side). The clientele were mostly in the 40+ range. Service was pretty good (except for the lost appetizer order but the server sincerely apologized for that and we forgave him). read more

I wasn't blown away... the A-Ok rating really suits here. Nothing that will necessarily surprise you; but pretty consistent pub food. The inside is kind of cramped with a smattering of tables. And it has a pre-fab feel about it, the way the architecture inside was handled. But it's pleasant enough. The bar is separated by a partition, and there were lots of patrons dining there as well. We opted for the Loaded Tots, expecting a version of Dain's (think: cheese fries & bacon); but what we got was even better! Tots that have cheese and bacon INSIDE of them. It was like a cross between a hushpuppy and a jalapeno popper. We really enjoyed these. The server forgot to put the order in, so they came out after our meal... but he apologized and took them off the ticket. No sweat off our back! My avocado burger didn't impress me all that much though. The cilantro mayo was so scant, I didn't notice it -- let alone taste the cilantro. The avocado did add a creamy texture. The Corner Tavern and Grill is a nice little place located in the corner of the Kroger shopping center behind the Wendy's on the corner of Maynard and High House. The place is a little hidden, so you have to look for it. It sits in the graveyard of many other restaurants. In the past this location has been a French, Italian and something else that I can't remember restaurants. Because the space has been used in the past mostly as true restaurants it has a restaurant feel. There is a bar area with 6 or so TVs and the main dining room also has a couple of TVs on the wall. Off the main dining room is a small patio that has outdoor seating. The food is very good, and is a step up from most bars as it feels homemade and not out of a box from a freezer. They usually have a unique daily special such as a rib-eye steak sandwich or open-face turkey plate. In my visits to The Corner I have had the Burger, Blackened Chicken, Buffalo Chicken and open-face Turkey sandwiches and they all have been good. The pricing is pretty standard ($8 for a sandwich) for a bar/restaurant, but they do have some entrees that can get into the $20 range. The Corner has a full bar, with about 8-10 beers on tap most of them being micro-brews (yummy) or higher end beers. While the place is a bit small, it does offer good food and drink. It is more of a restaurant than a bar and is friendly for all ages. read more
